GunBroker.com is committed to maintaining a secure, professional, and compliant online marketplace. All sellers, especially new sellers, must follow the guidelines below to ensure a smooth experience for both buyers and sellers. Failure to comply may result in penalties, account restrictions, or removal from the site.
Listing Violation Policy
Purpose:
The purpose of this policy is to ensure a fair and consistent approach in managing product listings on our platform. We aim to maintain a high-quality, user-friendly marketplace for both sellers and customers. Violations of listing standards will result in progressively stronger actions.
Progressive Violation Process:
1. First Violation:
Action: A warning notification will be sent to the seller of violation(s).
Time to Rectify: Sellers will have 5 calendar days to correct the issue. If corrections are not made within this time frame, listings will be ended without being sold or removed from the system, with no fees refunded for those listings.
2. Second Violation:
Action: A penalty notification will be sent to the seller, stating that listings will be ended without being sold or removed from the system, with no fees refunded for those listings. Any items relisted will need to be in compliance with policy.
3. Third Violation:
Action: A penalty notification will be sent to the seller, stating that listings will be ended without being sold or removed from the system, with no fees refunded for those listings.
Duration: Seller privileges removed for 30 calendar days. Contact SellerAssist@GunBroker.com to request the reinstatement of Seller privileges.
Violation Categories:
1. Keyword Spamming/Stuffing:
- The use of irrelevant or excessive keywords in titles, descriptions, or tags to manipulate search engine rankings.
- The description should only contain information relating to the item listed.
- The use of identical word(s) is prohibited in the title.
- The use of identical word(s) is prohibited in the subtitles.
2. Out of Stock/Back Order Listings:
- Listings marked as "Out of Stock", or “Back Order” or any similar wording will not be allowed on the marketplace. Listings will be terminated and purged.
- Listings that utilize excessive starting prices as placeholders for items that are out of stock or on backorder are strictly prohibited. Such listings will be subject to immediate termination and permanent removal from the platform.
3. Off-Site Linking:
- Linking or references to external websites, including email addresses, phone numbers, or URLs, in product listings is prohibited and may result in penalties, unless explicitly permitted.
4. Selling Off-Site:
- Contact information or attempts to sell outside the platform are strictly prohibited.
- Attempts to bypass GunBroker fees or taxes by moving sales off-site are strictly forbidden and will result in immediate listing termination and purge.
- Adding contact information to images is prohibited. (websites, phone numbers, email address, etc.)
5. Hidden Text:
- Any hidden text or irrelevant images on the product page intended to manipulate the algorithm or deceive customers will result in immediate action.
6. Counterfeit Items are strictly prohibited:
- Sellers must only list authentic products and accurately represent item origin. Listings suspected of offering counterfeit or unlicensed reproductions will be removed and may result in immediate account suspension or legal action.
7. Vulgar, Offensive or Discriminatory Language:
- The use of vulgar, offensive or discriminatory language in listings or usernames is strictly prohibited.
Appeals:
Sellers may appeal any penalties or actions taken under this policy by submitting a support ticket to SellerAssist@GunBroker.com. All appeals will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
General Listing Requirements:
- Every listing must offer a specific product or service at a specific price.
- Listings may not solicit, or reference prohibited payment methods, including:
Venmo, Zelle, Cash App, Google Pay, Apple Pay, PayPal Friends and Family (PPFF), Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies, Walmart2Walmart, MoneyGram, wire transfers, or any person-to-person cash transfer apps. - Listings that appear to be general advertising rather than product-specific offerings may be removed at GunBroker’s sole discretion.
- UPC codes must be included when available for new or commercially packaged products. Including UPCs improves search performance, listing accuracy, and buyer trust.
- The use of vulgar, offensive, or discriminatory language in listings or seller usernames is strictly prohibited.
- Counterfeit items are strictly prohibited. Sellers must only list authentic products and accurately represent item origin. Listings suspected of offering counterfeit or unlicensed reproductions will be removed and may result in immediate account suspension or legal action.
Category Selection:
- Items must be placed in the most relevant product category.
- Improperly categorized listings may be removed or edited by GunBroker.com.
Use of Characteristics:
- Apply available item characteristics (e.g., caliber, finish, round count) to improve search visibility and assist buyers in finding the correct products.
Prohibited Listing Content:
Do not include the following in any listing content (titles, descriptions, subtitles, or images):
- 80% lowers
- Vulgar or discriminatory language
- Counterfeit items
- Prohibited payment methods: Venmo, Zelle, Cash App, etc.
- Cryptocurrencies: Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc.
GunBroker.com reserves the right to remove any listing or username that includes inappropriate or non-compliant content.
Title and Subtitle Guidelines:
A properly formatted title is critical to visibility and professionalism.
DO:
- Use a concise title that includes manufacturer, model, caliber/gauge and key features.
- Ensure correct spelling and proper formatting.
- Include at least two descriptive words.
Examples:
- Speer Lawman 380 ACP 95 Grain TMJ – 50 Rounds
- Sig Sauer P365 9MM 3.1” Barrel – 2 Mags
DON’T:
- Repeat keywords or phrases (P220 P220 P220).
- Use unrelated brand names for attention (Not Glock, Like Surefire).
- Use the word "not" in legality references (Instead say: "Restricted in California").
- Use all caps, excessive punctuation (!!!, **), or clickbait (“WOW”, “L@@K”).
Listings with violations will be flagged and prevented from posting until corrected.
Description Guidelines:
Your listing description must clearly and accurately describe the item.
DO:
- Include manufacturer, make, model, caliber/gauge, and included accessories.
- Describe cosmetic or functional flaws and reference them in photos.
- Clearly state if stock photos are used.
- Use the Additional Terms of Sale section for shipping and payment terms.
DON’T:
- Include off-topic references or brands.
- Add contact details (email, phone, etc.).
- Link to external websites or promote off-platform deals.
- Use offensive, vulgar, or unrelated language.
- Request use of prohibited payment methods.
Additional Terms of Sale:
This section is for your transactional policies.
DO:
- Provide shipping method, cost, and timeframe.
- Explain return or warranty terms clearly.
- Disclose any additional fees (credit card, FFL, insurance).
DON’T:
- Include contact info or external links.
- Mention alternate item availability.
- Solicit restricted payment methods.
Picture Guidelines:
Use high-quality photos to represent the item honestly.
DO:
- Include multiple angles and close-ups.
- Show any blemishes or defects.
- Note if using stock images.
DON’T:
- Add overlays with contact info or promotional content.
- Include unrelated or excluded items in photos.
Please Note:
The system may warn you about potential listing violations, but its assistance is limited. You are fully responsible for ensuring your listings comply with all Listing Policies. The ability to create a listing does not guarantee that it meets policy requirements.
Payment Policy Reminder:
As of January 1, 2022, GunBroker does not allow the use of the following for any transactions:
PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, CashApp, ApplePay, GooglePay, Rhea, Walmart2Walmart, MoneyGram.
Wire transfers, due to lack of dispute resolution and Buyer Protection coverage.
These methods are prohibited by both GunBroker and the payment platforms’ own terms of service.
