To keep our platform secure and fast for everyone, we use automated systems to monitor traffic. Occasionally, you might encounter a security page. Here is what they mean and how to handle them.
1. Security Block
What it means:
Our system noticed activity from your browser that looks unusual or doesn’t follow our site rules.
What to do:
- Make sure you’re not using automated tools or browser extensions that change how the site works.
- If you’re using a VPN or proxy, turn it off and refresh the page.
- Use a supported browser: Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Safari, or Microsoft Edge.
- Make sure your browser is up to date.
2. IP or Location Block
What it means:
Access is restricted based on your location or IP address. This can happen if your IP address has been blocked or if our services aren’t available in your region.
What to do:
- If you’re using a VPN or proxy, disable it and refresh the page.
3. Managed Challenge (Verification Check)
What it means:
This is a quick check to confirm you’re a real person and not a bot.
What to do:
- Keep the page open.
- Follow any on-screen instructions (such as checking a box).
- Make sure JavaScript and cookies are enabled in your browser.
- Most checks finish within a few seconds.
For API users:
If you use the GunBroker API, make sure your website traffic and API traffic use different IP addresses.
4. Rate Limiting (Temporary Time-Out)
What it means:
You’ve made too many requests in a short amount of time. This temporary pause helps protect our servers.
What to do:
- Avoid refreshing the page repeatedly.
- Don’t use multiple tabs to perform the same action at the same time.
- Wait about 60 minutes, then try again.
- Automated tools like scrapers, bots, AI agents, and unverified proxies are not allowed on GunBroker.com.
Sellers and integrators can apply for API access for approved automated tasks.
How to Report a Problem
