Why am I unable to place a bid on a listing?
Some sellers restrict sales to certain states. If you are located in a state the seller has excluded, you will not be able to place a bid on that item.
How do sellers restrict bidding by state?
Sellers can choose which states they are willing to sell to using their account settings. These restrictions are set by the seller, not automatically by GunBroker.
Will I see an error message if my state is blocked?
Yes. If your state is restricted by the seller, the system will prevent you from bidding and display a message indicating that the seller does not sell to your location.
Can I still view listings that I can’t bid on?
Yes. You may still be able to view the listing, but bidding will be disabled if your state is restricted.
Why do sellers block certain states?
Common reasons include:
- State or local legal restrictions
- Shipping limitations
- Seller preference or business policy
Can GunBroker override a seller’s state restrictions?
No. State restrictions are controlled by individual sellers and cannot be overridden by GunBroker.
What can I do if I want to purchase the item anyway?
You may contact the seller directly to ask if they are willing to make an exception. However, sellers are not required to change their restrictions.
