The Weight Shipping Profile determines the shipping cost of an item or items based upon the following formula:
Total Shipping Cost per Class of Shipping = |
Total weight of all items in the package * Weight Range Cost |
+ Any Handling Cost | |
+ Any Insurance Cost |
Example:
In this example, we assume the seller ships items overnight, 2nd day, and 1st class. The seller enters the costs for each of these shipping classes, as follows:
Handling Cost | $3 | |
Insurance Cost | $1 flat fee
Overnight | Weight greater than or equal 0 lbs. | $10 |
Weight greater than or equal 10 lbs. | $20
Weight greater than or equal 20 lbs. | $30
Weight greater than or equal 30 lbs. | $40
2nd Day | Weight greater than or equal 0 lbs. | $5 |
Weight greater than or equal 15 lbs. | $10
Weight greater than or equal 25 lbs. | $15
Weight greater than or equal 35 lbs. | $20
Weight greater than or equal 40 lbs. | $32
1st Class | Weight greater than or equal 0 lbs. | $1 |
Weight greater than or equal 1 lb. | $5
Weight greater than or equal 9 lbs. | $9 |
A buyer wants to purchase 10 items, and the weight of each item is 1 lb., for a total package weight of 10 lbs. The buyer would see the exact shipping cost for the 10 items on the View Item page, and in the GunBroker.com Checkout system. Here is what the buyer would see:
Total Cost | Weight Range Cost for 10 lbs. | Handling Cost | Insurance
Overnight | $24 | Weight greater than or equal to 10 lbs. = $20 | + $3 | + $1 |
2nd Day | $9 | Weight greater than 0, less than 15 lbs. = $5 | + $3 | + $1 |
1st Class | $13 | Weight greater than 9 lbs. = $9 | + $3 | + $1 |
Note: To use the Weight Shipping Profile, you need to assign weight to an item when you list it.
