Below you will find a questionnaire to guide and assist you with the shipping claims process through GunBroker. GunBroker is the “Shipper on Record” for labels created through the GunBroker Shipping Tool and must be the entity filing the claim to expedite processing. Independently filing a claim with a carrier for items shipped through the GunBroker Shipping Tool may delay or inhibit claim processing and/or reimbursement. Please be aware there are time limitations for filing lost or damaged item shipping claims. Make sure that as soon as you are aware of a problem with the shipment, you reach out to us with ALL of the below requested information. Until we have all of the requested information, we are unable to file the claim.
Please Note: GunBroker can only assist with shipments created through the GunBroker Shipping Tool. Buyers: If a seller used their personal (unrelated to GunBroker.com) account to ship your now lost/damaged item, the only method of recourse is directly through the seller as support is provided exclusively for claims associated with the the GunBroker Shipping Tool.
To ensure a supported shipping account was used, please contact the seller and ask the questions below before reaching out to GunBroker support:
- Did you create the shipping label on the GunBroker website through the Shipping Tool?
- Did you ship with your own (unaffiliated with GunBroker) shipping account?
If the seller confirms they created the shipment ON the GunBroker website, then we may continue to assist with your claim. If the seller created the shipment on the actual USPS website or through their own personal (unaffiliated with GunBroker.com) UPS or FedEx shipping accounts, then we will be unable to assist and must refer you back to the seller.
Claim Filing Time Limitations
USPS and UPS: In the event of loss or damage, claimants must notify GunBroker:
- Within five (5) days after discovery of any loss or damage; and
- No more than thirty (30) days from the date of tender of the shipment to the Carrier.
FedEx: In the event of loss or damage, claimants must notify GunBroker:
- U.S. shipments of damaged or missing contents - no later than sixty (60) calendar days from the shipment date
- International shipments of damaged or missing contents - no later than twenty-one (21) calendar days from the shipment date
- Claims for undelivered or lost shipments must be filed within nine (9) months of the shipment date.
Shipping Insurance and Claims
- Please verify that the lost or damaged item was shipped with insurance. If you are the seller, check your records to determine whether the item was shipped with insurance. If you are the buyer, please verify with the seller that insurance was provided and purchased for this shipment.
- If insurance was NOT purchased for USPS and UPS, the claim will be denied as the declared value was not provided.
- If insurance was NOT purchased with FedEx, the maximum amount they will pay for uninsured claims is $100.00 USD plus the cost of shipping.
