I wanted to be here to help my Daughters get through school. She begged me to stay and I love her.

When she would get angry with me she would punch me on the back of the head or shove me violently in the chest where my pacemaker/defibrillator is located.

She would get me to the point that I thought I might have another heart attack, so I would go to the hospital ER and sit outside, waiting for my heart to slow down - or not.

I don't, and never have, sworn at her or called her names. I am a pretty mellow guy, for maybe the last 30 - 35 years.

In front of my Children, she would scream at me that I was a MF(full length word) and a c**ks**ker - IN FRONT OF MY KIDS.

    Starting to get whiney...

    Doug,
If she is/was doing that, she does NOT love you. She is trying to kill you. File charges anytime it happens. We may be men, but under the law we are supposed to be genderless.

I was cussed, spit on, and stabbed twice. I never responded violently either. I never called the law. Big mistake on the latter. It cost me big in court. The last time violence reared its head, I did call the law. She slammed a car door on my head because I wouldn't switch visitation weekends.

I feel for you Doug. I am still praying for you.

What you need to do is have a giveaway. Do some real unloading. Give a gunaway. It'llmake you feel better.

My wife's uncle was married. She hired a cop to kill him years after the divorce. At the trial she said "I don't know what I'm goin to jail fer. He ain't dead." She's 95 pound, nuts, and in a wheelchair.

Doug, it sounds as if you may need to take a vacation for a while. Have you considered spending some time with Son #1 or Son #2? If not, maybe you should. Unless you don't want involve them.

    You are in my prayers.

Besides, you need to stick around for at least 6 months because I am coming out your way in June and I would sure like for you to show me around the museum.

sad. regadless of fault, but honest, if it was TRUE deep pure love, it would all self heal.
sounds like something was wrong with the original receipe. sounds like it cooked wrong and got ruined.
sometimes cooks never can tell theres something wrong until the smoke is coming out of the oven.
    very sorry.
good luck with your next receipe.
    [:(]
if you need a new cook book, let me know. ill be glad to help.[^]

My now-ex-wife's mom died abruptly, oh, I think it was eight years ago this past Mother's Day (ugly timing). My wife didn't take it well, to understate the situation. Refused counselling and used me as a verbal, mental, and emotional punching bag, me being handy when the pain got too much for her to bear. Trying to keep a sufficient degree of love and empathy intact, for the day she actually reached out for help, so as to be able to provide that help, I gave her space. She sort-of healed, we sort-of healed, but we'd come to a place where the space I'd given her was still between us -- and neither one of us had a clue how to come back together. We were still trying when an old high school boyfriend entered the picture (God BLESS the internet for making it possible for a guy in Oklahoma to locate a girl in Indiana whom he'd dated for several months, some twenty-five years earlier, in Arizona!). On the night of her birthday, last year, I agreed to make other living arrangements, and our divorce was final back in February.

What can I say but been there, done that? Ours was a civilized and by-and-large friendly parting of ways -- and still painful, awkward, embarressing at times, and financially very difficult. Need to make noises that might sound like you're whining, to someone who knows damned well you aren't? E-mail. My phone number is yours for the asking, and my time yours for the taking if time to talk is what you need.

    God bless.

    Doug,

Tough decision, not taken lightly I am sure.

Hang tough, stay focused. If there is any doubt that she may "nut-up" get a lawyer and don't let anger take ahold.

Time will heal the pain and remember, all things tend to happen for a reason, which becomes evident given time.

    Been there, done that.

    Good luck and hang in.

Well...I made it through the night.

I figure that for every day I stay alive, the likelihood of her wasting me declines.

    Right ??

Audrey went to my attorney's office and picked up the paper work this morning - I had emailed her yesterday asking if she wanted to do that or be served at work. This was after the following occurred:

I went to Staples yesterday and bought an itty-bitty Sony digital voice recorder that holds 150 hours of talk (ICD8600) for $39.98, so I would be able to document everything she said to me. I called her at work yesterday and told her I would be recording all our conversations from then on, then I told her I had filed for divorce.............dial tone.

Since she got home last night - around 2AM - she has not said a word to me - darn.

I called the Clerk of the Court just now, and was told that she had not yet filed a Temporary Restraining Order, as she did the last time I filed for divorce. Maybe she learned something when that TRO was dismissed.

Useful information for y'all - DON'T let people file Temporary Restraining Orders against you. It complicates your life immensely. Last time my CHL was revoked at once, and it took me two months to get it back after the Order was rescinded. Also, if you think you might possibly be getting into this situation - have a bag in your rig with your most valuable firearms in it, as well as a weeks worth of underwear and clothes, and all your personal jewelry. As that event approaches, have as much cash with you as you can, because she can have all your bank accounts and credit cards frozen - just on her word - no court action required.

I hope this information helps a fellow GBer or two.

    Onward and upward.

"NEVER GIVE UP - NEVER SURRENDER"

    Hi Doug!

Sorry, I just saw your post about the divorce, I was not aware of any issues.

I am here for you if you need to get together with someone to chat. Maybe 30-45 min from Sheridan since I am in the Portland area. I went through the same situation in 1998 when a much younger wife decided to move on. Tough, nasty adjustment but I survived and so will you.

Talk to friends often, take a deep breath, and slowly pick yourself up and move on.

Give me a call at any hour if you need to chat.

Doug,......I really don't think she would try to kill you in an "outright" manner, but I would be prepared to leave if you must.
If she is that hateful as you have described, and of course all of your "stuff" is combined,.......maybe even JTWROS on any investments,
she may try to cause you so much anxiety as to cause a heart attack, or stroke.
Since you do have some health issues, you must not get worked up, or into any knock down arguements.
If she attempts to provoke you into anything like that, simply walk away, and leave if you must.
Don't play into something like that.
    We would miss you here![;)]
    Hang in there buddy.

    Mark -

That's part of the reason I bought the recorder - knowing that it's running, I'll deal with her more calmly - and the same for her.

In 1995, when I had my bypass and the prognosis for living was grim, we put all our assets in her name, so I don't have to worry about that. I think we have a couple of cars with shared registration, but that's about it.

I'm in the midst of revising my will, and I changed life insurance beneficiaries yesterday.

You know, your lives really are seriously linked when your married.

Get out your Simon and Garfunkel and play over and over, 50 ways to leave your lover. Just get out the back Jack, just make a new plan Stan, just hop on the bus Gus, just drop off the key Lee and get yourself free.[^]

It's an awful situation at every level, Doug. Protect yourself, keep your dignity and preserve your integrity. Let a lawyer fight for the rest; without one you'll keep very little, and even though it seems the easier way now, you'll live to regret it.

Blessings sent Doug, these situations suck royally. Go get you a fishing pole and a few worms, find a nice quiet shady spot and relax under a tree somewhere.
