Workee here... try hitting reload, last time it didn't load for me the first time either.0 -
Link works fine .Yes Rock...They MURDERED the man...[V] 0 -
He was not tasered to death, that was death by asphyxiation. 0 -
braught it on himself . . why did he get tasered?
can not fault the officers if he died due to a med condition they didn't know about0 -
we are taught about this at the prison; during heightened periods of strenuous physical activity, like wrestling with the police, if a perp is place on his stomach he can asphyxiate. it is a relatively newly recognized issue.
here in the states police would have done the same thing to such an individual. placing weight on the individual to control him is also common practice
this is strait evidence how uninformed media can skew an event into police abuse etc. the man was combative whether he spoke English or not.
BRAUGHT IT ON HIMSELF0 -
The way I see it, it's nothing but murder. They were told he did not speak English, yet everything they said to the man was English.
As to staind460, it sure looks like abuse to me. Tell me why he needed tasered again when there were four men on top of him? They murdered him. The man was scared, he didn't know what was happening.0 -
Yes... there was a language barrier, but if you DON't speak Russian, then what are you going to do? You aren't going to wait three hours while they look for someone that can speak Russian. They tried to get the guy under control. Sad situation all around. I'd like to know some medical and mental history on the guy. 0 -
I'm sure the cops didn't mean to do it. 0 -
seems to me they should have found someone who spoke his language and until then just kept him isolated in that little room.
I am sure in a city that size it wouldnt take long to find someone who spoke his language.
thanks for the video Rock0 -
this is not the fault of the police. if you act in ocordance of the law, behave yourself and comply then you will be fine. this man was exhibiting violent and irrational behavior. he was dangerous. the police are obligated to remove him from the scene.
i think the man died from neck or chest compression from the weight of the officers and not from the tazzer.0 -

If you only speak English it's hard to order someone to do something in any other language.
He was tasered BEFORE four men were on top of him. I don't see any issue with the taser. Someone ALWAYS get injured when it goes hand to hand cop vs suspect, the point of the taser is to avoid those injuries. A tasr is painful, but it is very temporary, an arse whoopin' can result in permenant injury.
The issue I see is a case for neglegent homicide. The suspect had discontinued any obvious resistence, but the officer maintained pressure on neck or upper back. The officer should have been trained to avoid maintaining pressure in that area as it has been proven to be fatal.0 -
The language barrier is really not an excuse.
It's an international airport...travelers from all over the world.
Someone must of spoken Russian.
The cops either didn't follow procedure or were improperly trained...or the one stomping on his neck was just a sadist dumbazz.0 -
again i point out that it is SOP almost across the board to maintain the pressure on the suspect till the cufs/restraint device is in place.
this was an unfortunate accident, yes it could have been avoided, but sometimes it takes an incident like this to bring issues such as language or the asphyxiation that i mentioned (i don't remember the official term for this)0 -
LOL. 0 -
I'm surprised that the topic of the story is "Man Tasered to Death"...the Taser had nothing to his death, other than putting him on the ground.
Last thing I'd be doing (if I was in a strange foreign country where I didn't speak the langauge) is throwing chairs, computers, and acting like a lunatic0 -

One of the men shouted to taser him again after they had him on the ground under control.0 -
He sure as hell didn't look under control to me, he was not cuffed yet and he was clearly still resisting. 0 -
Ten hours in an airport would drive anyone nuts. 0 -

he was free to leave at anytime.0 -
I have been tased and yes it does hurt but also i have 3 stents in and aroud my heart. There is no problems. A taser only produces .003 joules of power go check what a difibulator produces. The officers did everything right.it is called pain complance 0 -

You can fault them for not trying all other options (like talking to him for more than 30 seconds, in a language he understands) before resulting to a violent method that has killed people in the past. You can fault them for continuing to kneel on his neck after he was handcuffed.
If we continue to accept this sort of behavior from police i believe that we will get to a point where you can be tasered during a traffic stop if you don't have your registration (yes, i'm exagerating to make a point)0 -
LKB3rd you have obviously never wrestled with someone who does not want to comply. whether it is the streets of the nation or the hallways of my jail it is all the same. you maintain positive control until the suspect stops resisting or is cuffed and fully restrained
and yes kneeling on a persons back is a form of positive control0 -
Actually he was polish, not russian.
I think that the RCMP acted a little to quick, but there are a lot of questions to answer.
Why did it take so long for him to get thugh first the baggage area, and then immigration. He was on a direct flight from europe, so had to go through customs stc.
Second, why, when he was free to leave, did he go back into the secure area?
Thjere are a lot of questions here.0 -

Obviously, you did not watch or listen to the video very closely. He through his hands up in utter frustration after being detained for 10.5 hours in a strange country for no good reason. Only when he starting walking away from the police, offering no resistance, and turning his back on them, was he tasered. He then starting body spasms from the shocks, I can only guess that this is what you call resisting arrest. My question is what was he being arrested for; being utterly frustrated at a system that detains a person for no reason. I can only surmise you are saying that his death was justified in your eyes. Sorry, I just don't it see it your way.[V]0 -
since when is canada a "strange country" ? he went there voluntarily. do you think he is the first person to have delays, mishaps, or an inconvience at an airport ? also, i guess every airport is now requiered to have someone on staff 24 hours a day that speaks every single language in the world, including drunk jibberish ? 0 -

I guess neither did you since he was throwing things around, smashing computers and threatening to smash glass windows. Although that was not known at the time!
I do not know why he was there - read my post above - but again, why did he go back inside? I know that area rather well, and he was at the doors leading out into the area where you are greeted by family, friends etc. So, why did he stop and go back inside to the secure area?0 -

All irrelevant. They only question is why did police take 24 seconds to taser a guy who wasn't resisting and to kill him, asphyxiation or taser, who cares, the result is still the same. They didn't try to talk to him, to figure out anything, nobody at the airport tried to talk to him, in 10 hours they could have found someone speaking polish or reached a relative and so on.0 -
