Would you sell your family pet(s)?
If someone offered you a substantial amount of money, would you sell your family pet(s)?

Absolutely.
Unimaginable as it may seem to the "my dog is family" crowd, my dog is not "family."
I like my dog, he's a good dog, but I seldom confuse the two.
Friend of mine last week tried to adopt a dog from one of those private rescue agencies, and they turned her down, as she failed their questionaire. Aparently, one of the questions was something to the effect of, "If your family were in dire financial straits to the point where you were having difficulty meeting your family's basic needs, would you consider giving you dog away?" and she responded, "Yes, I would give him to a responsible person who could care for him properly."
WRONG ANSWER!!!! She was informed that the correct answer should have been something to the effect of, "NO! ABSOLUTELY NOT! I would choose to compromise my human family's access to their needs."
Sorry, I find this attitude as disturbing as I do befuddling....
It seems they only want crazy people to adopt their animals, which is typical, as these groups will readily kill the animals in their care for the sake of a political statement. And that question was would she give away, not sell.
Those who answer that they would never sell their pets have, I suppose, either never had to worry about having enough money to pay the rent or buy food for the family, or have forgetten what it was like. Seriously, if it was a matter of sell the dog for even $20, let alone the relativistic "a substantial amount of money" or your kids go hungry, you'd keep the dog?
True, the original question was phrased differently, but it didn't say only when everything's peachy.
There. I feel better now.0 -
Ive got three BIG dogs.
In the past years, I remember sharing my last meal with all three several times.
I've only ever purposly bounced a cheak, twice, both times were to buy 300 lbs of dog food.
I dont care what it takes or what it costs, my dogs will have food, water and shelter, until the day I die......
Im not in a situation now where I would have to do that, but I still have that same frame of mind.
Your dog would never give up on you, you should never give up on your dog, or dogs.0
