Divorce in your area. Poll.
In the past few years I have seen a big increase in divorces among women in their mid 30's. in my area. Women who married young are hitting the 35 yo range and wanting out of marriages. It happened to me when I was 30. Cost me about $25,000 up front and still paying. A half of dozen of my friends have gone through it since then. Now my best friend is goinig through it. They just built a $325,000 home and have acquired many assets over the years. She has no explaination as to why she wants out other than she is just not happy. They have children involved also. He finally got a lawyer and found out is much better of financially than his "soon to be ex wife" told him he would be. She forgot to mention several items that they will have to split.
I could go on and on on this matter but my real question is are women in your area doing the same thing? What are some women thinking these days? Mid life crisis? Us men struggled through the first half of the marriage when it would have been easy to run, but when we settle down and get comfortable, the women want to split. To all the women on here, feel free to join in also. My best friend is heart broken and looking for some reasons as to why she refuses to try to work things out.

The only couple that I know that divorced recently is a pair of very, very good friends. We were friends with both of them before their marriage. He was the DJ at our wedding, she was dating him at the time. We were at their wedding, we got together with them about every three weeks.
We had thought they had a very happy marriage... they did a good job of hiding the problems. However, we were there for what turned out to be the end of the marriage... I don't know how many of you remember what I mentioned about July 4, 2006 and the cops making me lay face down on the middle of the very hot pavement.
Money did have something to do with the breakup of the marriage, but wasn't the cause of it. He couldn't hold down a job and spent money like it was going out of style. He was also abusive to her, and as it turned out, he told a lot of lies to her, including inventing a story about the death of his mother (she picked up the phone one day only to have his "dead" mother on the other end of the line).
We're still very close friends with her. We get together with him every so often, but keep him at a close distance. He's dating a woman now who is madly in love with him and wants to get married (he's very much an "entertainer" and a charmer). I want to warn her about him, my wife tells me to keep my nose out of it.0 -
forkliftking: quote:What are you doing for your man to make him want to satisfy you sexually? Still the same weight as when you met? Still keeping that sexy tan? Still buying and wearing those sexy outfits? Still keeping your hair long and sexy or like most women, have it bobbed off like a man's hair cut after marriage? Get a clue women...
Any man that expects a woman not to change physically over the years is an idiot. Change in people is something that a person has to live with and it would be a pretty shallow person that would leave a marriage because of physical changes of the other. Most women and many men try to keep themselves in shape and look good for their mate as a matter of pride. Hell even if I werent married I would still take care of myself. Of course there are some that just plain let themselves go and that is something the couple should talk about, not run out and get a divorce. 75 percent of men I see running around have a pot belly, 50 percent are sloppy in dress, and 10 percent are just pure undecent in their hygene..
Marriage is a two way street, you cnat expect the woman to stay the same for ever just as well as she cant expect a man to. The act of
Sex in a marriage is not about how one looks, it is a matter of love and respect for the other..0 -

The egg donor of my sons walked out at 34. She wanted a free wild lifestyle; she now lives one. She got remarried quickly, divorced soon thereafter ad now shacks up with a guy 12 years her junior. In reality the reason is summed up best by one word; irresponsible. They want to be irresponsible; if dumping the kids on dad and abandoning everything works, they do it.0 -

Very well put. 0 -
I dont think any of the women in here meant that emotions and sex were the only causes of problems, just that those were the EXCUSES used by many in their divorce problems..Today it is just too much trouble for some people to work out differences and make a marriage work. Mush simpler just to walk away, and try again and fail again..
As the ladies stated, one must look into the mirror and question that person as to what their problem is, not just look at the image. Marriage is a two way street, when it fails it is usually something on both sides that causes it. And as the ladies say it is usually those excuses they use rather than really finding out the root cause of their problems..0 -

It seems alot of women are in love with the idea of being "in love."
Some women also seem to "settle" when they notice their friends are all getting married, but they don't have any decent prospects for a husband.
I don't really know what the divorce rate is here, or the reason for it.
If I had to guess I think it would be the 'keeping up with the jones' thing like you meantion. And it applies to many things besides just getting married, like having a kid (or kid number 2, 3, etc). Thats the only way I explain why some of these couples are together for a few years, live together, have 1 - 2 kids, but never get married or for that matter seem to have any sort of hobbies or values in general. Eventally one or both sides either realizes they don't really like the other, or they find someone they think they like better and split up.0
