    BR here...this is NOT classic...

I see by the comments that no one has really looked in the mirror, or asked themselves why...

One comment on here did say a lot though and that comment??

quote: "while you are doing the laundry, bring me another beer, this is a great game."

A lot of men, and yes I know quite a few from the business, are always spouting, she doesnt understand me, she let herself go, etc..

Well dammit guys look in the mirror...you let yourself go, you got lazy....you dont care anymore...and you dont understand that a woman has needs...
We take care of you, the kids the house, the job, usually waiting on you hand and foot and you still complain????????

Women are realizing finally that their emotions, and sexual needs count too...not just yours...

oh for God's sake BR! Thanks for the stereotype. I know very few, almost no men that are waited on hand and foot. I hear this so much from woman. It's almost the same tired story as how abusive men are to woman. Does it happen? absolutely. Does the number justify the stuck record syndrome? not hardly. Humans, both male and female are plain ole short sited. They think they are the only one contributing to the relationship and refuse to see what the other really brings to the table. Materialism and over use of credit (perhaps I should say the use of credit) is the most detrimental problems to relationships today. If folks wouldn't try to have more than they can afford they wouldn't have to work two jobs each and be too worn out physically and mentally to do housework or be a decent parent. Financial planning differences and credit cause more marital discord than lazy husbands.

    oh for gods sake calamitywood...

Perhaps without realizing it, you have made my point more clear...

It will always come down to financial problems as the cause of the divorce cause hardly any man will ever admit he could not satisfy his wife emotionally or sexually....and notice I put emotionally first....

I will agree most of the problems have something to do with money but not always problems with it,my first wife thought everything was free, she wanted the nice house, the new car and all the other nice things she saw, when I told her no or we had to wait until we could better afford it she would pout and then if that did not work raise hell.when we were starting down the road to divorce,,,her reason she gave was I was never home,,I spent too much time at work and not at home with her,I was not taking care of her emotional needs,,to this day she still can not understand I had to work like that to pay for all her stuff,She is now on her 4th husband, her 3rd commited suicide and this one is much older than her and has now lost everything he owned, when they married he owned a very succesfull business ,a paid for house and all his kids are grown and gone, she convinced him to move his business and buy a house that was just under 1 million,he spent too much time at home, his business folded,he is in bankrupcy and she is hunting #5,,,

honestly BR I don't understand your point here. How is it financial problems (which I agree it is) the cause of divorce since (here's the part I don't get) men can't satisfy blah, blah, blah, ect. ect. ad nauseum?

Divorce rates among conservative Christians were significantly higher than for other faith groups, and much higher than Atheists and Agnostics experience.

    Don't mention it, Black Roses.

Surely, there are women I refer to as "upgraders" out there, women who are satisfied with what they have until they meet someone who they think is better able to meet their needs.
And men get lazy, or "settle down," as someone else put it. They take for granted that this babe they marry is just going to cook and clean for them and raise their children and service them sexually with no acknowlegement and will of course be forever greatful to the man for choosing them to be the one to do so.
And there are men who get bored with the whole "home and family" thing, and feel the need for some "excitement" in their lives. The wife is busy with the house and the kids, and they just aren't a priority anymore, which really ticks them of.

Two sides to every coin, fellas....

I was refering to "settle down" as in staying home with the family and doing family things instead of taking week long hunting or fishing trips, staying out all night with the guys, hanging out at a buddys house all evening, every evening, to help him on a project in his garage, etc.... Maybe I should have been more specific.

My bad. I should not have stolen your "settling down."
"Get lazy" would have been more approriate.

After my first wife slept with the entire Pacific Naval Fleet and the US Army in Korea.....I was a little cautious when I proposed to my next wife.

I told her that if she cheated on me while we were married I'd kill her and if she couldn't marry me under those conditions then it was just not meant to be.

I was shocked when she said yes. True story. I never pondered that maybe she'd just kill me first tho.[:0]

Never marry without a pre-nup in PA.

Unless there are genuine reasons for a wife divorcing her husband it is most always for personal self gain and in PA the women know it. Kaa-chinggggg!!!!!

    Darn right!
You think we are going to put up with years of trying to keep clean your oil and dirt-sodden work clothes so that you have some thing at least presentable to wear to work, and cleaning the kitchen after every time you clean/butcher something, for nothing?[:D]

I dont think I have ever agreed with BR... but she is 100% right on this one!

Now note she said MOST.... are there ones who only want money and things.. yeah but MOST women who ask for a divorce are either not being satisfied in mind or in body.

To answer forklifts question...from what I have seen... the first half of a marriage the guy is willing to make up for those late night out and talk and be adventurous... once they "settle down" and get comfy the talking stops and the sex gets less.

The kids will be fine. I have always felt it was worse for kids to be raised in an unhappy home. I raised mine on my own (her dad has not been around since we divorced 10 yrs ago) she is a wonderful child. Much better off being raised in a happy single parent home than in an unhappy home with both around. Plus her step dad (been married almost 4 yrs) is great.

What are you doing for your man to make him want to satisfy you sexually? Still the same weight as when you met? Still keeping that sexy tan? Still buying and wearing those sexy outfits? Still keeping your hair long and sexy or like most women, have it bobbed off like a man's hair cut after marriage? Get a clue women...

Personally, I haven't known anyone who has divorced in several years.
I'm tending to think age/maturity may be a factor. Back in my 20's & 30's, someone in my relm of friends was always getting a divorce. For all types of varied reasons.
But once we passed the 40 mark things seemed to settle down.
Perhaps our lifestyles changed to a more settled pace. But those that were still married at 40 are still married now. And seem to be happy. Maybe it's beause our options are narrowing and we have just made peace with the idea that "this is as good as it get's".
