Shooter was bullied.....
Well, the news keeps repeating what most of us already knew. The Va. Tech murderer was bullied at school.
As I kept hearing it, a question popped into my head.
Why is bullying such a common theme in these events? Is the torment inflicted by classmates enough to drive a person insane....or is it something else?
Are these shooters bullied because their classmates (perhaps unknowningly) sense that something isn't quite "right" about them....

It is a fact that mentals do stand out like a sore thumb and will attract the attention of all who cross their paths. Most young folks do not have a lot of patience with the strange behavior of other students who do not fit in.
It is not a surprise to me that these students consider themselves bullied! Its more likely that the shooter was ignored than bullied.0 -

There has always been bullying. There will always be bullying. I was bullied (SP?) in middle school and part of H.S. I got over it. I think a big part of the problem is that kids today can't take it. When we promote the touchy/feely entitlement mentality at home and at school then someone gets picked on they can't deal with it. When they take dodge ball out of gym class because they don't want feelings to get hurt, when the teachers can't mark papers with red pens because it might hurt someone's feelings, when they do away with the grading system so as not to hurt someone's self-esteem, they are taking away the ability to cope with adversity (bullies). I am in no way advocating bullying but it happens and kids need to learn to do deel with it. 0 -

Kids are bullied for being different...being a bookworm, being overweight, being skinny, being pretty, not being pretty, being poor and the list goes on...
How may kids were "labelled" in YOUR public school?...in your high school?....bullying has been going on for centuries and probably will go on for centuries more...Is it enough to drive the person insane?...Yes.
It can cause a child to quit school..they can become withdrawn or lash out as the murderer did...
Bullying doesnt stop when we become adults...Labelling doesnt stop and each time you call a person a name or imply they are stupid, a moron, ugly etc you are in fact a bully....0 -

He was 23...an adult...completely on his own..his parents do not even enter into it right now...nor did they when it first started to show in 2005, when he was 21.... 0 -

I was bullied.
But for some unknown reason, I didn't go home and pull Dad's WWII GI .45 out of the drawer and go waste the bullies(spelling is correct).
Matter of fact, none of the kids WE bullied, or who bullied us wound up getting shot.
In the fourth grade, I found some kind of nickel plated break-top revolver, and carried it to school for the rest of the year.
I guess I didn't shoot anyone because I was sure that Dad would spank me when I got home.
And... as far as name-calling... I call 'em the way I see 'em.

Do me a favor...If you have kids, take one of them and constantly call them stupid, dumb...tell them they will never amount to anything....ONE FLIPPIN WEEK and you will see a big drastic change in them....Now do it for years and see what happens...

...What you are saying is for someone to alow themselves to be "bullyied" and effected by that; if that's what someone allow's to happen to themslves, they are weak. Those people need to buck up and "remove" their "problem", by their own accord, maybe whip the bully's azz for starters. If the "bully" is just so over powering they can't fight them off, catch the "bully" with his back turned and brain his dumb azz with a rock whatever...the way it was done for years.

I was bullied. My bullies were bullied. I did some bullying, too. Everyone was bullied. Saying that he was bullied is like saying he had one X chromosome or a layer of skin protecting his organs from the elements. It simply ain't special.
He was a sociopathic mass murderer, and being bullied in school didn't cause that. It probably didn't help matters, but it's not the real problem. I wish I knew what was. I wish anyone did.0 -

You ever have a kid in college? Did you go to college? Not trying to be insulting, just that when I was in college my parents paid the bill. If I would have told my Dad he didn't enter into the equation he would have ENTERED INTO THE EQUATION. (Thanks Dad!)
Your parents are always your parents and always enter into the equation, one way or another. I will certainly be a part of my daughters equation when she grows up.
