Proud of his hi point?
So, my process server, who also is a court officer, bail bondsman, and does his own skips, buys a hi point 9mm. He LOVES it, says its the best thing since sliced bread. Now, I have never shot or handled one. I also know of their "reputation". How deserved it that reputation? Hartley Peavey, of Peavey guitars, once said that there's nothing mystical about any electric gutiar - it's not like it was dunked in magical swamp water. Thoughts?

I know that some people really knock HP firearms, but it's been my experience that most people who say they hate them, or say they are worthless have either never shot them (but say they have for whatever reason) or are simply a gun snob. I believed the anti-HiPoint rhetoric until I tried the compact 9mm model. That experience led me to purchase the 9mm carbine. A purchase I don't think I'll ever regret. I can make 1" groups at 50 yards with the carbine.
So I own the 9mm carbine and fire the C9 regularly (as my brother has one)AND both weapons are accurate and extremely reliable. I have never had a failure to feed/fire, and trust them completely. The warranty is second to none, and the people that work there are first rate.
Say what you want about the brand firearm, but those of us who own them know the truth, and the word gets around eventually.

If a group of people tell you over and over that something is the best thing since sliced bread, eventually you are going to start believing them....whether true or not...ie. Hi-Point Forum. Y'all have to be the most insecure group of folks about your pistols you spend all your time trolling ALL the gun forums in search of something negative said about your beloved Hi-Points. Only to run back to your forum and bring reinforcments to defend them, and then post on your forum how "stupid" all the "gun-snobs" are for not falling for the hype. Most people suggest different pistols for around the same price simply because these pistols are better, plain and simple. Y'all blow off these suggestions as being "commie" guns or as "used guns, what happens when they break, no warranty".
I think most people wouldn't give the HP's such a hard time, though deserved, if EVERY single post made on the ENTIRE webs gun forums didn't have 10 new members with one post spitting out one-liners straight from the HP forum. It gets old, give it a rest. Just for kicks, go to any gun forum and search Hi-Point, EVERY one has a couple new members saying the same things.
Kel-Tecs are an inexpensive gun, with just as good a warranty as the HP's, and they get bashed all the time. You don't see members from KTOG running all around trying to right the wrongs, calling everybody "Gun-Snobs" and sending rediculous emails/PM's to the forum members.
If you are happy with your HP, then I'm truely happy for you, but don't go around trying to convince everyone else they are the best gun for the price (they are not) just so you can feel better about your purchasing one.

For the record, I haven't sent you any emails. That, and I'm not really trying to convince anyone that one is better than the other, but I don't think they deserve the flak they get. I also think it's kind of messed up that people who don't like HP's tell people not to convince anyone they are any good, but all they want to do is tell people that they stink and propagate that opinion.
They are a budget firearm to be sure, but they are well made, American made, and function as intended. I don't have a large gun collection (only 5 or 6), and my favorite isn't even my carbine. of the ones that I own my fave is my GP100. I didn't come on here to give you guys any grief, It's just my experience that most complaints about HP's are unfounded. I read the forums from time to time and just haven't responded to any posts. I thought I'd put in my .02 where HP's are concerned.0 -

I have another good friend who seems to love em totally.
I happen to go with the bad, and wouldn't every buy one on purpose.

I am not a HP employee. Why are HP's poorly designed and produced? other than your opinion I haven't seen any technical arguments. I mean no disrespect, but let me know why you think what you do.

Apparently you're as lacking in your knowledge about cars and history as you are about guns.
Yugos are not imported anymore because we bombed the factory during our war against Serbia (killed several hundred workers) and the Serbs think it was/is a war crime.

Hi-Points are made of a Polymer Frame same as Glocks not pot metal. Can you send me a link where there is a picture of a Hi-point that "KBed"? john Browning himself perfected "Blow-Back" pistols. Its 2007 you don't think we can make a pistol as good/safe as they did 100 years ago? Its not rocket science! Can you show me where there is a defect in this form of operation? Are you saying/writing all "Blow-Back" pistols are unsafe? As Americans you know how people are aways looking for deep pockets to sue. Would Hi-Point make a defective pistol, knowing that just one case can/will put them out of business?

just to let you all know, i run a small gun shop up here in north dakota and i sell hi points. i sell approx. 60 a year. in the three years i have sold them i have had zero come back. the closest thing i have had to a comeback was 1 guy who said the gun was shooting way off. when he adjusted the sights it made it worse(you probaly know were this is going) after showing him how to adjust the sights he has never said anything about it. i have owned at various times both the 9 and the 380. the nine was fairly good accuracy wise and i didnt shoot the 380 enough to have an opinion, but my nephew bought a 9 and it shoots all over the place. the reason for that is the horrendous trigger pull, which is very inconsistant from one gun to the next i have noticed. i have no idea why they should be different considering they all have the same spring. oh and while some of you brought up the subject of the race of people who buy these, in 6 years i have never even sold a gun to a black person, as we are primarily(like 99.999% white) around here. 0 -

Hi Points are OK. Especially the Carbines.
Lots of snobs here that have NEVER shot one.
They are ugly, cheap and production utilizes some non-elegant techniques. However, they are fine shooters and function very well.
The instances of them 'blowing up' are complete bogus BS. If this were the case, the company (which has a rock-solid lifetime warranty) would have been sued.
In fact, there are some well respected professional shooters who modify them, fine tune them and use them in competition.

and have you called Hi Point? Very nice folks. They are extremely helpful, and you can send in your gun for them to check out, polish feed ramps, etc. And they will send you an extra mag for the trouble.0 -
Sorry to say this to you new posters, but you are all wasting your breath and energy here trying to convince these guys that Hi Points are worthy guns. I am not a newbie as they call it, have been here some time. I also own and am very happy with multiple Hi Point pistols. I have never, repeat never had a fail to fire, never an exploding weapon, and never the first jam. The two I have are quiet accurate pistols, they do have fairly lousy trigger pulls, although that is improving with use. Would I buy another? Damn straight I would. Further more, I have a friend that owns Kimbers and after shooting mine he too is now on the bandwagon. Hi-Points are not $1000 pistols, but they will perform their duties respectfully. Oh yea, they also are not in any way affiliated with Jennings folks and those that say otherwise should do their homework.
NOW, For the disclaimer: I am not an employee of Hi Point, I do not sell guns, and I do not belong to some Hi Point forum.
I do, however, have no problem with admitting when I have been and continue to be well served by a product I have purchased.0 -

the problem was it was fire 3-4 rounds and then stop. The trigger would go off but it was only lightly striking the primer not enough for it to go off. Once i tap roll rack it would again fire but only a few rounds then same problem. Sent the gun back twice got a whole new gun and same problem. Quit trying after that. I would assume there was an issue with the firing pin. Only used rem and win ammo fmj range. Company tried to say it was an ammo problem. It would load and eject fine. 0
