Dad bought me a 12 gauge pump for my 12th birthday. Used it for everything until I was 18, when I bought my first rifle.

My grandpa gave me a Marlin Model 25 .22LR for Christmas when I was 10, still have it, still shoot it, still cherish it.

First one I have owned I still don't "own." I won a 1892 takedown in 44-40. My brother has it until I get my permit. Haven't even had a chance to shoot it yet!

First shot a 22, then a 30-30 and then a 12 ga all by the time I was 8. Shot an M16 at 17 and for the next 8 yrs shot only that but I didn't own it just kind of rented it from the National Guard on weekends and annual training.

We had a couple of pellet guns that I used to put a dent on the squirrel population with, but other then them it was a Marlin Model 60 which was given to me by my uncle.

Not including "family guns" owned by my father that I had use of. A Mass. Arms Co. single shot 12 Ga. given to me at about age 12 by my sisters 1st husband.
Interesting that there are so many Winchester Model 37 shotguns mentioned. We still have the 37 that was my dad's 1st gun. Given to him by my Great-Grandfather in the 1930's. Full choke and boy does it shoot a tight pattern! I've never been to a "turkey shoot" (shooting at stationary paper targets) w/it that I didn't win something.
