Its funny to read some of the responses on the news page about the incident.

Alot of Americans think that the vet should have asked them to take it down instead of cutting it down...or call the cops (like they would really do anything about something so trivial in their books). It is these same type of Americans that will be screaming at the govt once we have lost total control over the southwest area of the USA because of the influx and their own inactions.

I really have a bad feeling it is going to come to violence in the south over the illegal issue. I have no problem with anyone from any country that wants to come here legally, become a citizen, learn our language, pay their share of the taxes and become an AMERICAN. You know...like most of our ancestors did over the centuries.

But this crap of "this is our country you stole from us" is really getting old. I cant walk into stores in Texas now without hearing and seeing advertisements in Spanish. They sure dont cater to the Koreans, Vietnamese or Laotians that now make the US there new home. In fact these ethnic groups go out of their way to learn the language.

We need to stand up and be as one...or we surely will fall.

As far as I know, it's not ILLEGAL to fly another flag over the US flag. At least not when done by a private entity. It my be against flag PROTOCOL, it may be in poor taste, it may anger up the blood, but a little thing called the 1st Amendment protects speech and expression, however offensive we may find it.

Do you think a person could sleep well if their name were involved with charging this hero with a crime?

Then y'all need to pin one on me too. I cut down a GUATAMALAN flag ,from in front of a apartment complex in Jupiter Florida. In this case they were flying it over the stars n bars as well.[:D]
Their was no confrontation,as the biggest GUAT. in the place was 5' 140#.

I definitely couldn't, but it has become crystal clear that lots of people, including the ones who run our countrey do not think anything like me.

there was no crime committed except by the mexican who raised the mexican flag above the Stars and Stripes.

The only crime that was commited was by the person who put the mexi flag over old glory.
The man that cut it down is a true American, and should be honerd as such!

Good to see some Americans still have a spine! If they prosecute this guy for stealing the flag, then let me be the first to chip in for his defense fund.[;)]

Note: I originally posted this in the Gun Rights forum (yes folks, there IS a gun rights forum on here)

Consider me in the minority here

It pains me to see Old Glory disrespected. There are few things I love more than my flag and my country, but the constitution is one.

The 1st amemendment recognizes freedom of expression as a God given right

In my life I've seen Old Glory beneath several flags...State flags, The Confederate Flag...I've even seen it displayed (believe it or not) below the University of Kentucky Flag thats in my sig line. It pisses me off when I see it, but I have no more right to tear down their Mexican flag than they do to tear down the flag that flies on my property.

Don't patronize the resturant....organize a boycott....burn a pile of Mexican flags in your front yard....but (if he is a citizen) don't infringe upon his freedom of expression or his rights as a property owner.

When I say "I don't agree with your opinion, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it" I mean it.

That being said, I'd be happy if he'd take his ungrateful ass back to Mexico

That's fine, Rack. It's also fact that vigilante justice has often been hailed as justifiable in the court of public opinion too. [:)][;)]

Freedom of speech is one thing but action is another.

That Mexican had no more right to fly the mexican flag above the US Flag then he has a right to lay the Mexican constitution on top of the Constitution of The United States of America and say we now are run by Mexican rule.

Atleast not until they conquer the USA.
And that is not going to happen without a fight as excellently demonstrated by Jim Brossard.

Actually....with the upcoming Presidential Election...it may be in American's best interest to organize a group....of members from all 50 States and US Territories.

Then on one early morning......the capitals of all 50 States get the Mexican Flag ran up the poles......by some Americans trying to make a statement that this country might as well surrender.....

What effect would this act have on the US Presidential Election?

Would Americans finally say enough is enough? Well if that's what we gotta do....that's what we gotta do.[:(!]

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, actually, he did. Action or conduct expressing certain ideas is considered within the meaning of "speech" for Constitutional purposes.

At times like these, a little "vigilantism (sp)" is not a bad thing.

Falls under the category/hopeful-defense of "righteous indignation".

Free speech is not without consequences. It would behoove some people to remember that point.
