What was your very first gun?
Was repairing broken butt-plate on an old Hopkins & Allen single barrel 12g. Got to thinking that my Dad bought that shotgun for me at an auction 42 years ago. Was my very first gun. Wondering what others first guns were?

The M-16A2 in Basic, but i had to turn it back in. 4 years later I bought my first personally owned firearm, a Tec-Nine DC-9. 0 -

I bought my first gun it was a Winchester 44mag lever action. I think I made a good choice. 0 -

Daisy Red Ryder. Saved my allowance - which I think was 50 cents a week & bought the gun from the local hardware store. Kept it hidden from my folks for about 2 years, then it vanished. I was 7.
Next first gun was a Savage single shot .22, when I was 10 - gift from my Uncle.
Next first gun was also from my uncle and was a set - Winchester .38-40 and SAA 38-40.
First firearm I bought was a 2" Model 36 with custom grips and a trigger job. Paid $80 for it in Sparks, Nevada in 1966.
Certainly have enjoyed my "first" guns.

Mossberg 500 20 gauge. My dad bought it for me 2 months after, I was born, shot it once to make sure it worked and gave it to me for Christmas when I was 12. He told me he bought it that early cause he "couldn't pass up that great of a deal."

First one I bought was a S&W 686 .357 revolver. First gun I was given was my great granfather's Winchester 44-40. They had babies and now I've got alot more. They're like rabbits...at least that's what my wife says. 0 -
I started out with Muzzleloaders and it was a 45 cal Thompson Center Hawkins 0 -
Mossberg 500 12 gauge. Worked one day a week in a parkinglot as an attendant ("can't park here for hte game, can't park here for that bar") for a year to save up for it. Still have it. 0 -
Colt Commander 45 Satin Nickle on 21st birthday. Wore out the finish. Now in the desk drawer, in hard chrome, 27 years later. 0 -
The first rifle (gun) I ever shot was an old Winchester Model 1885 high-wall converted to shoot the 22 Hornet. The very first gun that was my own is an Ithaca Model 49 Saddle Gun (single shot lever-action in 22 LR) that was a Christmas present in 1968... I still have that little rifle, and it still shoots very accurately (after more than 75,000+ rounds)[^] 0 -
This isn't exactly an easy question to answer because you weren't really specific in your question.
What was my first gun would seem pretty basic, except you don't mention in which lifetime. It may have been a flintlock, it might have been a Gattling gun, it might have been a Winchester 1300 or it might have been a Noisy Cricket.0 -
I will not count BB guns here. When I was 14 my Grandpa got me a Marlin 880. That was my first. The first I bought myself was a Marlin 60 when I was 18. My first high power gun was a Mauser 98k my dad gave me when I was 17. My first that I bought myself was an Argentine Mauser 91 carbine. 0 -
My red rider. Followed by a winchester 9422 0 -
Can't remember,but it was either the new Mossberg Model 535(?) 20 gauge bolt action w/C-Lect-A-Choke that my Dad gave me when I was about 13 (late '60's) or the Stevens Model 44 .22LR that my Great Uncle (Godfather) gave me at about the same time which originally belonged to my Great Grandfather.
Both have been shot a LOT,but are still in good shape and are still and always will be in the safe.[^]

Age 14. Daddy bought me a Marlin Mod. 60. I still have it and will for the rest of my life. Another .22 that he got from a tip board at the glass plant the next year for $1. Still have that one, too. 0 -
A Ithaca Model 49, Lever Action Single Shot, 22 I bought at a Target store in Pasadena Texas back in 1973. I still got the thing.

Got a O/U when I was 12-14 or so.. legal limit is 16.
But it was in my fathers name, only for claytargets - so legal enough, as he was always with me.
But it was a 12 gauge, 2 3/4" o/u, JAGUAR.
A danish shop bought a bunch of these and had them branded with their own chain of shops' name.
I recall it was pretty well used, and the rear stock was slightly cracked - but it fit me like a glove, but I traded it for a Winchester 1500XTR semiauto 3 shot capacity.
It also fit me like a glove - and I even shot better with it, than with the o/u.0 -
