What was your very first gun?
Was repairing broken butt-plate on an old Hopkins & Allen single barrel 12g. Got to thinking that my Dad bought that shotgun for me at an auction 42 years ago. Was my very first gun. Wondering what others first guns were?

Got a Winchester model 37 .410 when we were young, but had to share it with my other 2 brothers, and my younger brother still has that old shotgun.
I beg for years to get a .22 caliber rifle. Dad was always scared of the distance a rifle could shoot and was afraid we would accidentally shoot one of his cows. Finally on my 16th birthday he gave me a brand new Ithaca Model 72 .22 cal Levergun. I still have it today and always will.0 -
My 1st guns, came about this way. My dad passed away in 1963, soon after mom decided to sell those guns to Ole Red a neighbor, who owned a gas station down the road... Well I had a (12 yr old) cow!!! 1st and only time I ever had it out with my mom and it was heated...In the end I said I'll get a job and buy them myself... Mom states that she needs the money now and it just can't wait!! Now Ole Red takes out his wallet and hands her the money and heads toward the door, he stops and looks me in the eyes and says "you owe me quite a bit of money son... I started pumping gas the very next day and that old fart worked extra hard too. But I think I loved that old man in the end as much as I loved my own dad... cause 43+ years later there is a m61 Winchester in 22 Mag, a Remingtom no.2, a Sako 222, a Colt Woodsman and a High Standard still in the hands of me and my brothers (via gifts to them on what would have been dad's 70th birthday. And I'm sure that they will be in the family for at least another generation after me cause I have the word of some very good boys and I trust them. Ole yea a couple of years ago at Ole Reds estate sale I bought every one of his guns too!!! That'll teach that old fart for trying get "MY" guns...[:D][:D][:D][:D] 0 -

You know Ive just realized that I have had the privilage to know some really fine people in my life. And nearly everyone of them was a gun owner.... FYI the 1st gun I bought that didn't belong to my dad was a m510 Remington that had a broken stock. I was 15 or 16 by then. Bid on and bought it myself at an auction. Here is a good one for you! I had it and an old H&A single 12 ga, in my locker at school the entire year while making stocks for them in shop class.... And the school knew it!!! How things have changed!!! Image they sold a gun to a minor no questions asked and then they let him keep it his locker at School. Ah, the good ole days/////|||\\\\\ 0 -

On my 8th birthday (1953) my parents gave me their Winchester Model 04 single shot 22 rifle that they bought right after they were married. They used it early in their marriage to shoot egrets, etc. on the river and sold them to a fellow that used the feathers to make arrows. They were able to make extra money during lean times by doing this. I still have the little Winchester 54 years later and it will continue, hopefully, to be passed down though our family. 0 -

First gun that was sorta mine ( had to share it with my older brother so therefore I never got to touch it ) was a .410 single shot.

My Dad bought me a winchester model 37 410 ga. For Christmas in 1986 and took me rabbit hunting that afternoon. It's still in the safe with alot of company but would be the last gun to go if I ever had to get rid of any. 0 -
Remington 760 pump action in .308. Intended to hunt deer with, but never succesful [:D]
It was my graduation present from my parents. I grew up around guns, and always had access to them anytime I wanted, but that was the first one that was given to me, and officially mine. I still have it, and I can't imagine ever getting rid of it.
I have bought and sold hundreds over the years since, but this one will stay mine until I'm co-mingling with the dirt.
Nowadays, I hunt deer with a Winchester model 94 in .44 mag. It is the perfect rifle for the terrain I hunt in, but I'm still not very successful [:D]0 -
H&R Topper in .410. My dad bought it for me when I was born in 1979. 0
