Armageddon - Ragnarock - SHTF...
There is a lot of discussion on GB about a coming National disaster or apocalypse. I have seen on TV predictions of the end of the world in December of 2012.
Can any of you help me out with these concepts, and tell me your thoughts??
Religious and/or secular comments would be welcome.
I am trying to form some conclusions for myself and would appreciate your help.
Thanks.
Doug

The end will come like a thief in the night. All of these predictions are hogwash. There have been predictions of the end of the world since man has had the brains to contemplate such ideas. The Aztec calendar ends in 2012, but the Aztecs met their end about 500 years ago. People throughout history have had to deal with problems hundred's of times as grave as those we have now in our lives. We have it made, compared to them. Give thanks. Be grateful. And have a little faith baby. 0 -
One other quick thing. I have read several talk about the Aztec calender ending on 2012, I beleive that was actually the Mayan calender end. 0 -
Doug, the world is going to end at 3:45 pm, on Monday, March 15, 2021. Have a nice day. 0 -
If we base this theory on the Bible, which I personally choose to, then think back to the Old testament.Paraphrasing to say the least, the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah would not have happened if only there had been 10 righteous people there. Based on this text, my thoughts are that as long as there are those that are still righteous in the eyes of God, the world will continue to exist. At what point God has had enough of the wicked, evil and etc. no one knows, but he will do things in his own time. That is what I believe. Others of course will laugh it off and even poke their fun, but it shall not change where I stand on this. Take this for what it is worth to you, just some food for your thoughts. 0 -
Don't panic.
Here's how it is going to end.
A "rapture" takes causes the disappearance of many people on the Earth, and a dispropotionate number of Americas as opposed to Arabs. Iran seizes the opportunity to drop nukes on America. From there, our great natural defenses, the Atlantic and Pacific, become our limitation. Armageddon begins and North America misses out on the real war.
Heay, I can write fiction like anyone else.
Truthfully, I think it is wise keep an eye on the horizon.0 -

Sorry, I won't be able to make it.
This thread is giving me a lot to ponder.
I note that no one has really addressed the ever popular GB "SHTF" circumstance.
Why is that ??

Well, because when the gun board shtf comes, Mexico and the Middle East will still exist! 0 -

doug, in the bible it speaks of when the olive tree bears leaves again not a generation shall pass. a generation being mans time, three score plus 10 or 70 years. in may of 1948 isreal became a state or nation. add 70 to this and you get2018. now subtract 7 years tribulation 2011. just my opinion. i'm not talking religion on here much anymore as there are too many unbelievers. i stop by from time to time, that is all . i feel out of place and not welcome and have not the time for bickering. my beliefs are strong as i'm sure others are just as strong the other way. ....regards[;)] 0 -

captplaid, you seem to be a pretty good man, i believe doug wilson is also, but there are others here that are extreemly mean spirited. argguing is one thing. personal attacks, threats of killing your family ,is another. there are other forums that uphold the rules for all, equally, not here, i can't speak for others, but i'm tired of it. the offender has a timelimit to appoligise to jacob, if he cannot , court may be in order. sorry 0 -

The Mayan calender ends December 21, 2012 AD.
I'm not sure what that means, there are a lot of opinions out there.0 -
Who sez it hasn't already come and we are living in it now 0 -

Very good point. I doubt we will know upfront.0 -
It's kind of weird coz it seemes like all folks hopes the end of time will come in their lifetime.
...and so far all of em ended up dissappointed.
Why do we want that ? Life is to boring and we want some really exciting stuff to happen ? [:)]0 -

It just seems to make sense to me to have a little extra put away. Extra money, food, water, and ammo. Maybe a generator with some extra fuel.
9/11, Katrina, local power outages, all of these recent events ought to tell you to pull your head out of your butt and put something on the side, just in case.0 -
Jesus says, no man knows the day or the hour. In the end many secrets will be revealed but some will never...
I say 2012 is merely the End of the "Age of Pisces" and the beginning of the "Age of Aquarius" (or maybe Aqua-Arius)[}:)]
I can't wait till Nid-Hog season though...0 -
It may be so but because it would be the end of Hillary's first term in office. If she runs for re-election, it could very well bring on the end of the world.[xx(] 0 -

I had not thought of that.
Are you speaking seriously ??

Hey ECC;
"I believe our bodies will be transformed into our new heavenly bodies and I do not believe those who experience the rapture will experience death. The Word is actually pretty specific about this. It says that not all will sleep (or die). Read 1 Cor 15:51-58
"Listen, I will tell you a mystery: we will not all sleep, but we will be changed-in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality..."
Not to argue, but to clarify, the scripture does indicate that all men die, "And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment..." Hebrews 9:27
Remember, the rapture occurs at a very precise and specific point in time, and only those Christians alive at that point will be transformed into their heavenly bodies. Those already asleep in Christ will be transformed with His return at the resurrection, "For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also WHICH SLEEP IN JESUS will God bring with him". 1 Thess. 4:14
In scripture, being dead is to 'sleep', while sleeping is not necessarily being dead (an important distinction, although Paul did admonish us to, "....Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light." Eph 5:14 He is speaking here of those who sleep in ignorance, not in true death of the body).
Here are a couple of other New testament references where death is equated with sleeping, beginning with Lazarus, of whom Jesus said, "....Our friend Lazarus sleepeth: but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep. Then said his disciples, Lord, if he sleep, he shall do well. Howbeit Jesus SPAKE OF HIS DEATH: but they thought that he had spoken of taking of rest in sleep. Then said Jesus, unto them plainly, LAZARUS IS DEAD". John 11:11-14.
In Acts, the dead David is said to have been sleeping, "For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption." Acts 13:36
And Paul, speaking of the witnesses to the Lord's resurrection said, "After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but SOME ARE FALLEN ASLEEP". 1 Cor 15:6
I didn't mean to imply that the rapture experience was one of pain or suffering, or any other like manner of death. Only that the result of that change accomplishes exactly what death accomplishes, and that is to turn one from being flesh and blood, which cannot inherit the kingdom of God, into a glorified incorruptible being with a body that can inherit the kingdom of God, "Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption." 1 Cor 15:51
Christians who are already dead are resurrected into their glorified bodies, while those present at the rapture/resurrection, are instantaneously changed into those same incorruptible, glorified bodies. But both can be said to have gone through death, for "It is appointed unto men once to die...." (Could this be why Jesus cried at Lazarus' death? knowing that man must die only one time, and that Lazarus, by dying once, then being resurrected, to die yet again at a later date, represented some other case, or some other dispensation, one not necessarily good for him?)
This is a good discussion, but one that will ultimately satisfy no one, and in which no one is likely to undergo any substantial change of opinion.
But good, anyway, for if it makes us realize we are going to die, and that time doesn't end with our deaths, maybe we can make some preparation for what comes after resurrection (or, as our first scripture says, "And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment").
I am and remain sincerely and respectfully yours,
Sahagan0
