The myth of my state; (The People's Republic of) Massachusetts, is that there is any justice or representation of the people. When our Senior Senator (Ted Kennedy) is guilty of killing an innocent young woman and has never even had to answer for his actions in any way, and our Junior Senator (John Kerry) {and also the Senior Senator} can pass themselves off as representing the little guy or the minorities and any other oppressed group they can think of, when both of them are obscenely wealthy (even thought I don't believe in the class warfare the both of them promote) and are so out of touch with any average normal person, there is no justice, there is no true representative republic representation. The other myth is that all of the liberal whack jobs are more enlightened than conservatives... Especially when their great policies are proven to be abject failures on a daily basis yet we continue to accept and promote them for the status-quo.[:(!]

Also, another little known fact about West Virginia.
West Virginia is where the tooth brush was invented.

People in Washington are "ruggedly independent."

We USED to be "ruggedly independent" before the state filled up with socialists from Kalifornia. Now the few "ruggedly independent" of us who are left sit on the outside looking in while the big-city socialists steer the state by electing nothing but liberal democrats to the Governor's office and State Legislature. [:(!]

I am so sick of this epidemic.....people who move from one state to another and wanting to change everything there to be like the state THEY JUST LEFT!........

Agreed. When I moved here in 1986, I did so because Colorado was charming, quiet, friendly and enjoyable.

Twenty years later, after everyone else followed me, I find it rude, noisy, somewhat enjoyable and filled with a bunch of egotistical twits.

For the first time since I've lived here, I'm actually considering finding a job out of state once I get out of school.

Because gullibility is a product of the weak minded and a liberal will tell them everything they want to hear. On the other side of the coin...not enough right minded people get out and vote so the idiots win by default.

I'm from a small town in the far western corner of Western New York, upstate NY.
When you introduce yourself from anyone who is not from NY, and say that you are "from NY," they automatically assume that you are from "the city."

Big earthquakes always occur early in the morning. Just as earthquakes don't care about the weather, they can't tell time. The 1940 Imperial Valley quake was at 9:36 p.m., the 1989 Loma Prieta quake at 5:02 p.m. People who perpetuate the time and weather myths tend to remember the earthquakes that fit the pattern and forget about the ones that don't.

California could fall into the sea because of an earthquake. The San Andreas Fault System is the dividing line between two tectonic plates. The Pacific Plate is moving in a northwesterly direction relative to the North American plate. The movement is horizontal, so while Los Angeles is moving toward San Francisco, California won't sink. However, earthquakes can cause landslides, slightly changing the shape of the coastline.
