What are the myths about YOUR state?
Going out in minus-12 F. temps this morning (a common occurrence for the past three weeks), it occurred to me that people may rightly question one's sanity for living in Minnesota, and it got me thinking about myths (or facts) about various states. For example, there are folks who have actually asked me whether the snow ever completely melts in Minnesota. (Uh, yeah, once every decade or so, like when it's 102 degrees in the summer and I'm harvesting carrots and potatoes from the permafrost). So for my state, it's the "It's always cold there" myth. What are some of the common myths about YOUR state?[:)]

Just remember, in Arizona we don't drive the speed limit, we drive the temperature. [8D] [:D]0 -
Myth: It is always raining in Orygun.
Truth: Not when it's snowing.

Most people don't even know that Delaware is a state!!!
The sam people think Virginia and West Virginia are the SAME state. Virginia is for Lovers. Not.
West Virginia is apparently for sheep lovers... at least that's what some of the posts here suggest.

And not much of that, lately. Thanks to the greed-heads along the Front Range screwing us out of all our water.
Hope your lawn's nice and green.
Because our crops are not.
Ooh.
Is it me, or did that sound bitter?
Shake it off, Plink.
Nothing personal, Spanielsells. I like you. I just get royally pissed about water issues lately.0 -

And, honestly, I don't feel like my crack implied. I have wonderful friends up in the Greeley area that are farmers/ranchers and have a hell of a time making ends meet 90% of the time. The drought has really worked a number on them. And, all the retards on Capitol Hill can do is figure out how to get more and more people to move to the state.0 -
Well, the snow has helped this year.
I gotta get outta here. I've still got a card to buy.0 -

back in the 70's my mom went to philadelphia, she was sightseeing, somebody asked her where she was from, she said "nebraska" they asked her if we have trouble with indians... and they were serious.
on the other hand, my grandma was born there in nebraska in the 20's, when I stopped by with a friend of mine who was an indian, she was scared.0 -

Well when I lived in Oregon people always think its raining there. Not so much it varys according to which part of the state you're in. On the Oregon coast though it always seems to be raining when I lived there.
When I lived in Alaska some people thought we still lived in Igloos and used dogsleds. Alaska is farther behind in alot of areas from the lower 48 though. Some towns there are no roads in or out. Plane or boat is the only way. This is a good thing in my opinion.
In Texas the slogan everythings bigger in Texas. Not true in the least.0 -
