I'm just wondering how much formal education our forum members have....
So what's the highest level of education you've completed or are currently working on?
GED?
High School?
Associate Degree?
Bachelor's degree?
Master's?
Ph.D?
You get the idea....
Trade schools and vo-tech apply as well....
Since I asked the question, its only fair for me to go first.
My highest level thus far is an Associate Degree in Science. Right now I'm in my senior year for my Bachelor's in Geography

Some college courses. Previously Certified to teach Vocational Machine high school/ college. My other half... B/A, Masters, Masters +30, National Board Certification, working on Ph.D 0 -
BSCE, structural engineering.
Master of Engineering, structural design.
Doctorate (Engineer's Degree), structural engineering.

I will finish my MBA in December. Very slight change of a PhD in Political Science. 0 -

Started taking some advanced courses last year toward an MA in theology. Might get it finished in a few years, or maybe not. Son will be starting college in a few years and he will need money!
Took a couple of courses a few years back toward a PhD in Theology, but realized quickly that wasn't for me!0 -

Bachelor of Mechanical Management and Engineering or also called Bachelor of Marine Management and Engineering.
Included are subjects like :
Marine Law, international laws regarding ships.
First aid and training in recognizing certain illnesses and the use of medicinecabinets for emergency use at sea to perform small uncomplicated operations with aid of a doctor via satellitetransmission.
Course in practical firefighting with breathingapparatus, entry, firefighting, all kinds of extinguishing agents and so on.
Course in planning firedrills and training of firemen by becoming chief firefighter.
Metallurgy, chemistry..........
Basically - educated to become Technical chief of any offshore operation like a ship, sub, drillrig - but also Healthcenters like hospitals and so forth.
I started out as 3rd Marine Engineer and 2nd Marine Engineer at a hospital here in Greenland - and ended as Technical Chief of the Tech-Department, with responsibility within electricity, waterdistribution and heating including steamgeneration, firefighting and drills, ventilation.
In short - anything technical/structural in Greenlands biggest hospital (280 sickbeds, not much - but we're only a country with 56.000 citizens and the town here only have 16.000 citizens.) and in any area of the hospital. Which are Surgical, X-ray, laboratories, storage, cleaning/washing, supply of medical air/nitroxoxide/pure oxygen, maintenance of Autoclaves for sterilizing OR-tools, scope-cleaners and so on.0 -

Kristov...yeah, I do things backwards. When God called me into the ministry, I was one semester short of finishing my BSCE. Had to have a BS or BA to be accepted to divinity school, so figured I had better finish up what I had started rather than starting over with something else. I was already 26 years old and wanted to "get on with it."0 -

Right now I'm planning on Grad school.
As far as employment, I've got some decent choices, even if Grad school doesn't work out
1) National Geospatial Intelligence Agency
2) US Geological Survey
3) DNR
Plenty of other government work available too if those don't work out, USDA ect.
I've got some experience with satellite imagery too, so I could likely pick up a job an intelligence agency as an image analyst0 -

For some reason many people have the erroneous idea that just because a person went to college they didn't also experience life's "hard knocks."
I bounced around as a bar tender, construction worker, truck driver, hydraulic mechanic, sales clerk, farm hand and warehouseman over a 30 year period before deciding to go back to college (dropped out after 2 years). Spent 1987-92 earning an AS (industrial arts), BS (liberal arts) and MA (art history) while continuing to work full time. It wasn't easy and that's why I don't appreciate people insulting those who made the effort.
I graduated in July of 2003 with a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in higher education leadership which is a totally useless degree outside of working in a college. There are about half a dozen forum members I know of who hold doctorates but I seem to be the one a few people want to throw stones at. Fire away, I don't care.0 -

Wasn't satisfied.
Rolled that into a BS in Agribusiness Economics.
Started over at the bottom 5 years ago. Now I am perceived by many as someone who is working his way up rather than those who come green out of school and don't really know the jobs. Funny thing now, I'm not sure mgmt above who think having a degree is everything knows I have a degree. I guess the ones I hold in contempt are those that worked there way up but now think a college degree is a mandatory requirement.0 -

BS in History/Political Science, 1 yr post grad, cetified to teach Driver Education. Many tech courses in my 30 year career with Tx Dept. of Health inspecting Public Water Systems, 68 years of the School of Hard Knocks. 0 -
select-fire: If she is doing a Ph.D. is 7 years she's doing good. Most programs advise incoming students to expect 10-12 years for a Ph.D. (which is absolutely ridiculous) They told us the Ed.D. program would be 4-5 years and I took 4.5 so I guess I am average.
BTW- I didn't mention it but I also paid all tuition and costs myself. No grants, or scholarships, or federal funding or student loans. Paid as I went and it wasn't cheap.0 -

I wouldn't feel like that, I make 1 1/2 times more then my sister who went to college for 8 years and I love my job many more times more then she does.
Education is great, but you can make it very well without with a little determination. Saying that I'm thinking about trying to go to college. I took their tests and I'm at college level for everything except math. Not bad considering I dropped out my freshmen year and only got 3 high school credits.0
