Girl murdered---I was next door visiting
Woman Murdered In Winnsboro
Wood County detectives are continuing their investigation into the death of 19 year old Brittany McGlone, who was found murdered at a residence in Winnsboro. Investigators say her death was the result of massive head injuries. Officers say she didn't live at the residence where she was found but knew her attacker. Anyone with information about McGlone's death should contact the Wood County Sheriff's office.
This happened this past Friday (during the day) at Winnsboro, Texas.
The wife and I had gone to visit her Dad last Thursday (he lives on Lake Winnsboro) and his home is "next door" to the residence where she was murdered. We were all at home and didn't see or hear anything. The boyfriend had gone to Dallas that morning with his Dad to pickup his grandmother. The boyfriend lives there with his Dad and mother. The detectives questioned him all night Friday night and released him Saturday morning.
I haven't heard of any updates since we left Sunday to return home.

I see its been a while since anything has been posted about my sister's murder. Coming up on the 2 year anniversary on May 4th, i just wanted to catch up. So far, that i know of, the suspect that was arrested previously was released last July i think. Nothing else has come up in the case. Feels like we are at a dead end; feels like nothing is being done.

Hope this scumbag is brought to justice soon. Keep the faith. 0 -
...Good luck, and in our prayers and thoughts, and I hope they catch the sorry bleener. Sometimes the scales of Justice tip too slowly for our likeing, but, most times they do tip in the right direction, hang in there.
...I'm not big on "memorials", "headstones"...etc, but the one ya'll have for your sister probably reflects her to a "T", and is very, very nice. Barrels? Horses and proud to be Texan and lived the lifstyle I bet...[;)]

My name is Hope McGlone. Brittany was my only sister. I found this forum and wanted to give an update on the case. The previous suspect Chad Carr is not really a suspect anymore. No one's told us but from what has been told to us it seems that way. DNA results came back and we were told no one BUT Brittany's DNA was found. We were told whoever killed her was wrapped in saran wrap. I dont know how thats possible. The case has now been turned over to the cold case investigators. I dont know exactly who that is. But I was told that they can only work with the evidence that the Wood County Sheriff had. As of now I have no hope in my sister's case being solved. Its my belief that is has been screwed up since the beginning. Thanks for reading and your thoughts and prayers.

I recall this case a little, but do not recall these previous postings, I have read for the past few minutes to catch up.
Hope, the Texas Rangers have a cold case group and they first go off original evidence to make sure everything was done proper and that no one missed anything. They also can develop new evidence, I know sometimes a new set of eyes on a case may be helpful.
Thank you for the updates and know that your always welcome here. I hope that your family gets justice soon.0 -
Really sorry to hear that, Hope. I'm the one that started this thread and was next door with my wife visiting her Dad when Brittany was murdered. I was very hopeful that the person(s) responsible for this terrible tragedy would have been apprehended long before now. Our prayers to you and your family. 0 -
Sad story, hope they get enough evidence to charge and convict someone for the family to get some closure. 0 -
Its terrible to hear of a tragedy like this, even being nearly 3 years ago. Sounds like the original suspect learned how to leave less evidence for forensics. Its sad that he was not kept in prison for much much longer then 5 years.[V]
You guys have friends here, family here, people who genuinely care. Hang out with us when you can, vent when you need to, you are welcome here. May the day come soon when they find the piece of excrement who is responsible for this evil and bring him to justice swiftly, may he linger in [}:)].0 -
thank you all so much. Did you know our dad beneteau? thank you for starting this. 0 -

This is the first I've read of this. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Sorry for your loss. I certainly hope that some day the murderer(s) will be caught and brought to justice.0 -
I remember this case. I wonder how the guy they arrested has fared these past years. I hope no other young women have suffered the same fate.
I also hope the family can find some solace that Brittany lives on in the memories of all who she touched and that her spirit is re-ignited whenever her name is spoken.

he's been in prison since 2012. when he was arrested a little after my sister was killed(not for her murder), he was ultimately placed on probation, then messed that up and went to prison. he gets out in 2020 if not granted parole. quote:Originally posted by kannoneer

Near Lake Winnsboro,, you're welcome. [:D]0 -
Not sure if anyone is still on here, but we're coming up on 13 years since Brittany was killed. No arrests ever made. The main suspect gets released from prison this year on an unrelated charge. He's been in prison since 2012. Not sure what we're facing at this point. Hoping for the best. There are 2 facebook groups if anyone is interested in following. Justice for Brittany McGlone and Brittany Danielle McGlone 1987-2007. 0 -
Wow, I remember when this was first posted here. I hope you folks find closure someday. 0 -
OG post, wow such a sad story. I hope that “Karma” takes care of this if the proper authorities fail to 0 -

Brittany McGlone. Such a beautiful and vivacious young Texan. Someone knows the culprit. Is there a reward? Sometimes money will get people to talk. The suspect who is to be released from prison may have talked to someone while he was in the joint. Hopefully they will interview everyone he came in contact with and mention the reward. Any former girlfriends should have been interviewed. No DNA really hurts the case but perhaps some was missed. They have more sophisticated tests now than they had when the murder occured; could her clothing be re-examined? I really hate to see someone get away with murder. 3
