try bringing your car in for a warranty fix with a tire missing. isnt that what happened here?
not that i know about tv junk, but if someone flew a plane out of my airport and returned with just a horizontal rudder in his hand, i would be curious where the rest of the plane was.
just a thought...could they have been under rules to ensure the WHOLE THING came back so it can be looked at under a magnifying glass to see what caused it, not blame someone....just look at it all, so they could see what happened. most big wig mfg'ers have teams that check that stuff as a package. w/o the 'other stuff', the test would be invalid.

just a thought....before you bring all your other good stuff back.[;)]
Please read the post, if you want to, I can send you a picture, or I can explain it to you in Finnish[:D]

BB is a scab opreation.[xx(][xx(] Took my computer back for repair, was told it would take up to 3-4 weeks to get it back. 3 mounths latter I still had not got it. It came in 3 mounths and 3 weeks. Wasn't fixed. Had to waite 3 more weeks for them to send me a mother board and power supply. In the mean time I find the computer intel 4 has been changed. They denied any wrong doing. Now I've got one sloooow HP. That was 2 years ago. Haven't been back, won't go back, and I bad mouth them every chance I get. Oh yeah, all the programing was erassed, was gonna cost me $150.00 to get it reprogramed.( Dumb store like they are the only ones who know how to do it.)

Well no more Best-Buy for NUTFINN[:D]

I purchased a TV ($1800) from BB this past Saturday, got it home, plugged it up, some pixels were burnt in the screen. Took it back to BB (just the TV) they wanted all the cords, remote, etc back, I said they are at home, but when you get the new TV out of the box you can have all the accessories that come with it, all I need is the TV.

It is evident that common sense is banned at BB, no deal, Local GM at the best buy store excorted me out with my TV, I must have really ticked him off, one would think that a BB GM would have the capability (people skills) to deal with a ticked off Finn, boy was I wrong.

So, I went to Circuit City, purchased the same TV, drove by on other BB on my way home, took the cords and manuals from the new TV, carried it in, got my credit for the TV.

So BB lost the sale and lost me as a customer, they do not care, but if they ticked me of, they will be ticking more folks off too. CIRCUIT CITY RULES, got it cheaper there too[:D]

In the past 10 days I also purchased

    - PS3
    - Sony Surround Sound System
    - DVD player
    - Several games and BlueRay discs
    - Personal Computer

All together around $4000 (with the TV), most were gifts, got a receipt. Packing them up right now, taking them back to BB for a credit. I know who cares, it just makes me feel better (the principal)[:)]

P.S. yep I can be an a-hole too, thats what my wife said when I explained this to her, still.

EDIT: I JUST WANTED TO CHANGE IT TO A GOOD ONE.

i agree most bb's r run by idiots. they hire 17 year olds as store managers. the one near us has chased off several sale by harrasing the purchaser over the extended warranty.

I complained to one such 17 year old manager that the saleperson would not stop harrassing me over the extended warranty even after I had told him multiple times that I did not want it. Her response to my complaint was to ask me if I had had a problem with extended warrantys!

This kind of shear stupidity is rewarded by taking my business elsewhere!

Nutfinn - not trying to stir the pot or anything, but they did read the post. You only brought back the TV, not everything in the box. That is all they are saying.
The reason that they want everything back is so if they test it and not see the same thing that you saw, they will sell it as an "Open Box Item". I understand that they could just take the stuff out of the box that the new TV was in, but it is SOP that if something is returned, everything has to come with it. You can thank all those who are not as honest as you for that.

Forgot to mention when I bought it, it was an open box item, sorry. When I really got hot is when they try to charge me $87 for the stuff that was missing, I was trying to explain them that you will get all that from the new TV that you are giving me, all I need is the TV.

Well sorry to hear about your troubles with BB but out here I bought all of my appliances and 3 LCD TVs all from the same BB over time.Except for the ice maker which they sent a repair person out within 3-4 days and replaced the whole unit, I have had great service from them! Guess I lucked out.

As a home theater installer in a previous life, I can tell you that the routing of cables can be a real nightmare to do right. If I had the same problem, I would have done the same thing. If they had the same one in stock, I would insist that they exchange it. Most large crt TV's don't go home in a box anyway. Best Buy will still take them back. Of course, I know we are not talking about a crt, but surely you get the point. I recently had an issue with them on the online order and in-store pickup. I sent an email and got the
"Sorry you didn't have a good experience" email. Oh well.

Good luck to you on the new setup!

I was going to point that out also.
    Seems not everyone remembers that.

My sister in law bought a New flip phone from them and took out the "extended" warrenty on it. 2 days after she bought it, a dark spot came up on the L.E.D. screen. she returned it for replacement, they would not even talk to her about fixing it or replaceing it. They said she had dropped it and that it had been abused and it was not covered under warrenty for that. There was no scratches on it what so ever. "Never buy from them." They have no customer service.

Write a letter, one of the kind you have to put an actual stamp on, to Best Buy and explain the situation to them....

For it's an axiom in the journalistic field, that for every one person who writes and complains about something, there are at least one thousand others who feel exactly the same, but aren't motivated enough to write. And it wouldn't hurt to mention that fact to Best Buy either....

And by the way, that goes both ways. I've written to businesses where I was treated like dirt, and actually caused certain jerks to be fired. And I'm not in the least ashamed of it.

But I've also (more often in fact, than I write letters of complaint) written letters of commendation, or compliment when I've been given better than average service, products or attention.

Shucks, I've got a letter on my bulletin board right now from the maker of PLUSH PIPPIN frozen Apple Pies (buy'em at Wal-Mart, they are excellent, the pies that is), where they say they've put my letter of commendation to them, on their own corporate bulletin board.

I used to love them too, I have spend 1000's with them in the past years, but no common sence or customer service, well, thank goodness I can shop where I want, I will still use my existing reward zone coupons, or maybe sell them in Fleabay (don't like them either, AT&T or my water company), who knows. All the forums I got this posted, several 1000s has already read it[:)]

Yep, I have used the letter thing time or too, and you are correct, you get more results. I am done with the BB, so I am not going to bother write any letters. Last time I worte one was with Delta, they sent me a travel voucher for $200, it expired, I try to avoid Delta if I can.

I want something explained to me in Finnish!

Best Buy in Trussville has a real "bright spot" walking around the store. I was looking for an 80 gig Zune for my middle child. I asked the guy in a blue who was walking by if they had the LARGER hard drive model? He said....."that's the largest one they make." I told him NOOOO...this is the 30 gig and there is an 80 gig. He started telling me that I was thinking of the I-Pod. I didn't want to tell him exactly what I was thinking. I looked around for someone who worked there that maybe looked like they didn't have their diapers changed after Bush Sr. was president (I didn't find anyone that fit my criteria.) I came home and bought it on line.

Come see me NUTFINN! The store is a madhouse....watching me run around these days is better than a nite at the comedy club.

It seems some have had good, and some have had bad experiences. Makes me wonder if it's not a managment specific problem.

I've had similarly difficult dealings with Circuit City, but I'd imagine the same goes for them..(?)

all BORGs are tacky places to shop, pay more at the little mom & Pop's and this money gets put back into local economy, yes, the comment about the extended warranty was right on, that is how they make up for half-price sales, is to make the money back from selling WARRANTIES...just like MickeyD's makes there real money off of coffee and soda, not hamburgers//

They didn't try charging you a 15% restocking fee? They tried that crap on me, I called the corperate office and explained the box was not yet open on a Navigation system I bought.

Their policy is if box is open charge the 15% if not full refund.

    Total hassle.

I am also done with Best Buy.

Had something similar happen to me last year at BB, but only with an $1600.00 computor. The sale was never made though. The sales guy was trying to sell me all kinds of software and warranty, and I declined, as I would have my IT department wash it(all the BS the new ones have in them), and install the stuff I need. I was counting out the last of it, and he goes into a piracy speach of which I told him there was no piracy, did he want to make a sale or not."I don't care, I don't get paid a commission" was his answer. Picked up the stack of 16 Ben Franklins, and went across the street to CC...right after I explained to his manager why.
