BEST BUY incident
Well no more Best-Buy for NUTFINN[:D]
I purchased a TV ($1800) from BB this past Saturday, got it home, plugged it up, some pixels were burnt in the screen. Took it back to BB (just the TV) they wanted all the cords, remote, etc back, I said they are at home, but when you get the new TV out of the box you can have all the accessories that come with it, all I need is the TV.
It is evident that common sense is banned at BB, no deal, Local GM at the best buy store excorted me out with my TV, I must have really ticked him off, one would think that a BB GM would have the capability (people skills) to deal with a ticked off Finn, boy was I wrong.
So, I went to Circuit City, purchased the same TV, drove by on other BB on my way home, took the cords and manuals from the new TV, carried it in, got my credit for the TV.
So BB lost the sale and lost me as a customer, they do not care, but if they ticked me of, they will be ticking more folks off too. CIRCUIT CITY RULES, got it cheaper there too[:D]
In the past 10 days I also purchased
- PS3
- Sony Surround Sound System
- DVD player
- Several games and BlueRay discs
- Personal Computer
All together around $4000 (with the TV), most were gifts, got a receipt. Packing them up right now, taking them back to BB for a credit. I know who cares, it just makes me feel better (the principal)[:)]
P.S. yep I can be an a-hole too, thats what my wife said when I explained this to her, still.
EDIT: I JUST WANTED TO CHANGE IT TO A GOOD ONE.

anyway that is all i got from them[:(][:(][:(]0 -
Why would they consider giving you just a new TV as a replacement when it would be so much easier to simply give you a new and unopened box with the TV and all the other items inside? When they send the defective item back to the distributor they will need everything that came with the unit when it was shipped. 0 -
Circuit City might be belly up in a year looking at their stock price...then what will you do? 0 -
Comp USA is going belly up. I wouldn't be surprised if BB weren't next. 0 -
BEST BUY SUX. The tried to screw me on a computer. They won't get any more money from me either. I didn't even get a letter from corporate saying they were sorry. BEST BUY SUX. 0 -
I know this is your rant but who tries to return something and only brings back part of the purchase??? 0 -
wow...if i had that much free up money.....i wouldn't give a dang!! niiiiiiice.....[;)]
know what ya meen about the service side thoo !! [:0]0 -
I will NEVER buy anything from Best Buy. They ASSUME your a criminal just like Sams'Club. They treat their customers like crap. Seems like everytime I was in there, someone was at customer service complaining about something they bought. And Circuit City just laid off most of their employees and hired new people at half price. I will not be going there either. I like ABC Warehouse. Never had a problem with them....yet..[:)] 0 -
Come to think of it, I have a problem with Best Buy also.
I bought a pack of photo printing paper, and ink cartridge last week for $32. The stuff was bad, it made a red hue all over the photos.
I will have my showdown with Best Buy tomorrow.
Hopefully it won't be a showdown, I just want an exchange, I need the stuff.0 -
I've done that sort of exchange, where I already had the cables routed. All they needed to do was give me the device and keep the new cables wrapped.
No problem.

I like Best Buy. Can't imagine trying to return something and not having all the "stuff" with it. I can't really blame the guy at BB. All you had to do was get everything that came in the original box, and they would have made it good. One thing I learned in retail when I worked there a LONG time ago...The customer is NOT always right. And nothing you can do for some customers will make it right. 0 -
I won't use best buy either. I purchased some items from BB online a few times. I moved and placed a new order, during the process I typed over the address in records to change it. They still sent it to my old address. I called them on it, and they refused to admit it was their fault or refund me even though they said it was a known issue with their online order system.
In the end I finally found the guy at home at my old address and he gave the item to me, and I haven't returned to BB since.0 -
Common sense is lacking, all you want to exchange is the main unit, the store keeps the box with the new cables wrapped, its a win for the store as it is easier to return to the vendor / distribution center with a box they opened and saved the packing to.......
O ya, I had a similar experience a few years ago with BB.
And I have worked in retail/catalog sales for over 20 years.....0 -

Given, I think I would have brought it all with me as well, but...
If he was just exchanging the TV, why would it be so hard for them to open the box of the one he would receive and give him the TV only from that box?0 -

I read the post. Don 0 -
I've purchased from Circuit city for over 20 years and they always treated me right. Their prices are competitive and their customer service is excellent so I'll stay a loyal customer until they pizz me off. Then I'll torch 'em. [}:)] 0 -
I can see your point, but, I think sometimes when you purchase electronics, the serial number of the unit is on the box, too, and maybe there is a scanning process or something that needs to be done to insure proper store credit. Suppose you had returned to the store and they were sold out of that particular model? Then, surely you would need all the components of your purchase in order to receive credit. Better safe than sorry. 0 -
Welcome to Corparate America! I have had similar issues with Best Buy, Wal-Mart, and HH Gregg. It sucks that Circut City is down in the dumps right now cause around here their service is top notch. Radio Shack is my only other option unless I want to drive a 100miles for something.
I glad you got your problem solve, even if it was doing business some where else.0 -
Best Buy has already gone belly up once. It used to be named "Best" and went out of business as "Best" and opened back up as "Best Buy".
They only tried to screw me once, but it was in a way which I had specifically asked them not to screw me. I got my money back, but it still irritated me a little.
If I refused to do business with everybody who pissed me off a time or two I wouldn't be able to do business anywhere. I try not to get that angry. EXXON is the exception. [:D]0 -
I like Best Buy. I am a member of their rewards program and get $5 back for every $100 I purchase there. I have taken a number of items back and have never been given any resistance at all.
Sorry you had a bad experience and I hope your new TV works for you.0 -
try bringing your car in for a warranty fix with a tire missing. isnt that what happened here?
not that i know about tv junk, but if someone flew a plane out of my airport and returned with just a horizontal rudder in his hand, i would be curious where the rest of the plane was.
just a thought...could they have been under rules to ensure the WHOLE THING came back so it can be looked at under a magnifying glass to see what caused it, not blame someone....just look at it all, so they could see what happened. most big wig mfg'ers have teams that check that stuff as a package. w/o the 'other stuff', the test would be invalid.
just a thought....before you bring all your other good stuff back.[;)]0 -
Please READ the dang story! Sheesh.....doesn't ANYONE have any reading comprehension any more?
