ouch, even Ruger mini 14s, ouch.

There is one hope, a constitutional challenge to the law (if it passes, and probably will).

Hopefully Bush's recent supreme court nominees will declare such a law unconstitutional.

The supreme court is full of "conservatives". Now is the time to test the mettle of the conservative politicians when it comes to gun rights.

This new law could result in the constitutional challenge we need, to take gun rights to the supreme court, and score a big victory for gun rights, and possibly nullify not only this ban, but a whole lot of other gun regulations.

If this law passes and takes effect, you will know that neither political party really cares about this law.

Any one of the three branches of government can stop this law from taking effect.

Bush is still in power, we may yet see if he truly meant it when he said he'd sign an AWB if it came to his desk. If he vetoes it he is a liar, if he signs it he is a traitor.

There are two branches of government where conservatives are still in control. If this law passes, I suggest you all abandon the republican party, abandon any support you had for bush, and vote liberetarian.

Or maybe republicans nationwide should register as democrats, and try to take over the democratic party from within, and try to get a real pro-gun candidate to win the democrat primary.

We know where the democrats stand on the issue, its been nearly 8 years and we still don't know where the republicans stand on the issue.
I think we will soon find out

I will take that bow..Thank you very much !! Didn't vote perversion (democrat) but LOVING this.

Your stinking Republicans had the job for how many years ?...and did NOTHING to roll back gun laws ? Instead, they went after OTHER freedoms and rights...with YOU cheering them on ?

Let me explain, Bubba, in simple words. MOST of you support gun laws. Revealing an utter lack of understanding of the SECOND Amendment...So now the Elites want more...and you are upset...wahhhhh-wahhh.

YOUR gun laws GOOD...THEIR gun laws BAD...began to get the picture ?
You folks that WILL NOT support the Constitution SHOULD be disarmed..and your heros are going to see to it.
Those of us smart enough to actually understand BOTH parties..corruption ALL...are amused.

I guess most of my guns will become pre-ban items. Higher value. [:D][:D][:D] Maybe I could get $3000 for my PolyTech.

We should let them ban them.

Can you imagine the money we could make....making firearms and magazines in our backyard machine shops?

I mean come on....making an AK ain't exactly harder than making pancakes. Remember those Egyptian Maadi's.....looked like they were made with chisels by prisoners in Egypt....indeed they were!

A bumper sticker I saw a few years ago.

"The Day We Lose the Second Amendment is the Day We Start the Second Revolution"....
I think that sums up things nicely....Don't you ?
Vindictive ? Why ? Why should people riding upon the backs of Second Amendment Supporters...REAL ones...be allowed full rights ? They are willing to condemn ME to their half-existance..forcing ME to crawl on my belly to some stinking empty suit to buy a gun..just as THEY are perfectly WILLING to do...

THEY are WILLING to hand over to the goverment their rights...therefore, depriving them of those rights is to be expected, given the nature of goverment...ANY goverment.

H.R.1022 - Assault Weapons Ban and Law Enforcement Protection Act of 2007
    Sunday, 18 February 2007
    Details

    Sponsor - McCarthy
    Proposed - February 13, 2007
    Congressional Record Link - H.R.1022
    Amends - None.
    Amendments - None.
    Vote - None yet.
Results - No change in law.

    Status

February 13, 2007 - Read twice and referred to the Committee on the Judiciary.

    Synopsis

H.R.1022 is much closer to the 109th House Bill 1312, the Assault Weapons Ban and Law Enforcement Protection Act of 2005, than it is to the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban.

    1. The list of weapons prohibitted by name is greatly expanded.
    2. In 1994, a list of attributes determined whether or not a gun was a 'semiautomatic assault weapon'. Two attributes were required. Under H.R.1022, only one attribute is required.
    3. he attributes defining 'assault weapon' is greatly expanded. Barrel shrouds are now included in the defining attributes for an 'assault weapon', so this bill could be considered the Hughes Amendment equivalent for evil, black rifles.
    4. All transfers of 'large capacity feeding devices' are prohibited.
    5. Private transfers of assault weapons are prohibitted.
Read carefully the catch-all for 'assault weapon' attributes:

    (L) A semiautomatic rifle or shotgun originally designed for military or law enforcement use, or a firearm based on the design of such a firearm, that is not particularly suitable for sporting purposes, as determined by the Attorney General. In making the determination, there shall be a rebuttable presumption that a firearm procured for use by the United States military or any Federal law enfocement agency is not particularly suitable for sporting purposes solely because the firearm is suitable for use in a sporting event.

    Analysis

The rights of the people predate the Constitution and continue to this day. That does not stop Congress from trying to diminish that idea in people's minds. The message underlying this entire bill is that the Bill of Rights can be increasing limited by passage of laws.

According to United States vs. Miller (1938), military weapons are specifically protected by the Second Amendment. But those very weapons are targetted by this bill. As all semiautomatic rifles and shotguns have their design history in military weapons, this bill could be the death of all semiautomatic rifles.

The bottom line is that this bill is a disaster, in no uncertain terms. The unabashed gun grabbers should consider this bill a step toward nirvana.

Finally, recognize that this bill has no expiration. If it passes, it will not go away without an act of Congress and signature of a president.

Which if it does pass, and down the road there is an act of Congress and the presidents signs it to over turn, then there'll be a new AWB proposal. It's an endless cycle. If the people keep electing freedom hating morons, than, that's what we're going to get. Plain and simple. I'm just shocked that somebody actually thinks this is the most important thing on their plate right now. Completely shocked. Sure didn't take long, did it?

HB: While the republicans haven't helped the problem, I don't know of any freedoms they took away from me that affect me. They haven't done any damage towards gun control either. They leave things alone. Most dems' only intent is to raise hell and get rid of the 2nd ammendment. Many not only being antis, but extreme antis. If they're not in office, they're hovering around waiting. They've almost got the complete set in now. All that's left is to vote Obama in and you can kiss everything good bye. Guranteed.

I don't support any gun laws. I also think felons should be evaluated as to the nature of there crime, for whether or not they can own a firearm. Not banned for life. At least that's the way it is here.
There should also be mandatory CC in every state. No state should be able to exempt themselves. They don't have the right to.

This crap..'sporting use'..OUGHT to have been greeted by instant imprisonment for EVERYBODY using it in the government...were the people living in America still Americans.

The Second Amendment was designed to keep tyrannical goverment in check..and we the people allowed these scum-bags to cut our throats. Military style weapons are what the Second is about...ASSUALT WEAPONS....

Look in the mirror, if you want to know why bills like this are eben considered...

CCW's ? Ohh, HOW the NRA and the masses cheered and bragged about 'winning' CCW's...sure...a clear win for the Elites.

We begged them to take a RIGHT..and make it a privilege..and we pay thru the nose for it. Every time you brag about how.."No CCW's are involved in criminal activities"..you cut our throat....you PROVE that nobody is fit to carry a gun unless government approved...TOTALY ignoring the tens and tens of thousands of people that carry every day of their lives...WITHOUT government approval...and do so safely.

Then,,setting it up so that the coming shakedowns countrywide sets up the non-ccw holder as instantly a criminal...instead of a person that actually READS the Constitution....

    Thats it...get mad at me.
For pointing out what the Constitution says...and what is.

The person you OUGHT to get mad at..is yourself. Yourself..for buying into government/NRA propaganda..for quietly, meekly, accepting crawling on your belly to your daddy to buy a gun...

    You know..."Daddy...can I buy a gun"..... No...you were a bad boy...30 years ago, you had a fight...you may not have a gun...crap like that....

Do I crawll..? You bet...but I crawl KNOWING that it wasn't the Democrats that make me crawl...but my fellow gun owners that didn't have the guts to go to the streets to protest gun control....NO...that AGREED with gun control....

Sometimes you have to play their game. I think everybody would agree it would be nice if we could go back to the days of the old west. But, even then they started limiting allowing firearms in town. Why, because ignorant people were heading to the bar to get drunked up and local law enforcement didn't want any trouble any more.
Well, it's still the same only we have millions and millions more people to deal with, GREATLY outnumbering available local authorities compared to those days. If everyone who wanted to carry was allowed to, I really don't think it would be pretty or help our case. We can't assume everyone is like you or I. CC at least ensures people carrying have passed whatever and have some sense of control and reason. That some citizens are responsible. Nowadays, you almost can't blame them for having to do something.
Just getting a CC law on the books would be a huge step forward for us compared to where it stands now. You have to start somewhere.

  • JackBwr
I said I don't support any gun laws but maybe I do support some. I don't think CC is that bad of a law, but there should be standard guidelines for everyone. Background checks? Are they really that bad? If you have nothing to hide, who cares? Do it and get it over with. I dont think a prison escapee, serial killer, should have the ability to go to the hardware store and walk out with a firearm in 2 minutes. Is it an inconvenience for all of us? Sure. So is security searches at the airport.

My problem is that you have to draw a line in the sand somewhere. At some point. I personally believe it was drawn long ago and now they've gone WAY past it and want more. I can't accept any more. I'm a single issue voter. I see where the candidate stands on gun rights first and foremost. If they pass that, then we go on from there. Which is why I'll probably be voting 3rd party in 08 and then the repubs and dems both can shove the ballot up their ......[:(!]
