No One Answered My Question
how many of you on this board have gotten a DUI or driving with a suspended license ? i think i smell ALOT of hypocrites on this board as well as ALOT of hateful people in their comments towards paris hilton. i cant believe how shameful everyone here is acting. however, i find it very promising that due to the enourmous outrage everyone here is spewing that all of you guys will be petitioning you congressman to increase the jail time for DUI offenders and those driving without a license.

I was fresh back (less than a week) from the Gulf and was doing my partying. I got stopped in my 78 Firebird Formula for doing a Cali stop and exabition of speed to start it off and when the officer asked me how much I had had to drink I replied "probly to much".
Well I had drank 16 shots of Yagermiester and about 5 beers so I did not lie with my statement!
But mine happened back in 91 and the penalties were not as bad then.
And I learned my lesson with the first DUI because I have not drove drunk since!0 -

None! They held me in a cell at the police department untill I sobered up. I paid a $750 fine and informal probation on my licence for 3 years!
Like I said things were a bit different then!0 -
She isn't in jail because of a DUI, she wasn't given any jail time for that, she's in jail because she violated probation. Judges and PO's don't take to kindly to that.
Knew a guy that broke into an occupied house and stole money. Was caught and went to court. Was given no jail time, but probation and told to repay money. He didn't repay money (violated probation) and the judge locked him up for two years.

I would drink and drive until about 20 years ago. I stopped that behavior on my own, with no DUIs, and no injuries or wrecks.
I thoroughly detest drunken drivers and I believe there should be mandatory jail time for them.
You can call me a hypocrite, but I think I became educated.
I support the use of breath analyzers connected to the ignition system - you don't pass, the car won't start.

After Doug's post,........I should clarify!
I never said that I didn't drink and drive,........just nothing ever happened as a result of it.
I also quit driving after drinking at about 35, or ten years ago.
If I am gonna tie one on,........I stay home, and send someone else out for more beer!0 -

I do not condone DUI's either. But the breathalizer on the ignition should only be used for those with current convictions for DUI! And there should be a stamp of some sort on a persons licence for about 5 years indicating that they have had a DUI!
To put breathalizers on every car is an invation of privacy that most people should not have to go through!
And that breathalizer is also beatable only needing a person who has not been drinking to blow in it (say a 6yo kid who has no idea what is going on!)!0 -

But it's a moot question, since I don't drink alcohol anymore. Partly because I have a very high profile in a very small community and the best way I could guarantee that I wouldn't be embarrassed by that kind of press is to simply quit drinking.
But also partly because I'm not what you'd call a person of moderation and my kind of drinking would've killed me in very shor order.

I have'nt had a drink in over eight years. Even when I was a boozer I did'nt drink and drive after about the age of seventeen, which was how old I was when I did get popped for DUI. In other words I learned my lesson. 0 -
The fact that this story has somehow gotten this much coverage, when there are two wars on is frankly ridiculous, but for the record, for someone to get jail time for driving on a suspended is unusally severe, for the Sheriff to release petty crime inmates to house arrest is very common in california due to overcrowding, for a judge to override that decision in a case like this is unheard of and to then double the time that has to be done, because he is upset with the Sheriff's decision is absolutely unfair. I know everyone is getting a chuckle because Paris is finally getting hers, and 45 days in jail isn't really that big a deal, but Paris Hilton was treated unfairly and if you shouldn't get special treatment for being a famous you shouldn;t get treated worse for it either. The fact that a judge has wasted this much time and resources on a nothing case, when the judical system is backed up beyond belief, is ridiculous. And when the press gets bored with the "Ha Ha look at Paris" angle and decides to do the obligatory "was that really fair" angle that judge hopefully will have to deal with some repercussions. And bottom line, when we cheer on petty injustices, even stupid ones like this, we become worse as a society. And if you don't believe it, tell me why I have to see Paris Hilton take the lead story on the nightly news when there are two wars going on. 0 -

I love a good cold beer, or sometimes three, but not when driving. I may have one in a restaurant with a meal and drive, but like git r done, if I have two or more, I am a passenger.
To answer the question: No DWIs, no DUIs, no license suspensions or revocations. It isn't remarkable. This sort of record is very easy to achieve.
Of course, I meet people all the time who act as though getting busted for DWI, or having a suspended license, or even going to the penitentiary, is just something that happens, not something that they engineered for themselves. It is as though such things are inevitable, and the question is not whether it will happen, but when.
Are you one of those people?

agreed. I have 2 friends, ones brother was shot by a drunk person (jordan), and another's kid was killed by a drunk driver (Doug)0 -
None, None and None also I have no points on my lic.

Sometime life's not fair!
How's this for fair?
In January Hilton pleaded guilty to charges of drunk and reckless driving and was sentenced to 36 months probation. She was also ordered by the court to attend alcohol treatment classes and pay a $1500 fine. She ignored the court ordered classes.
She was then stopped while driving on a suspended licence twice more - on January 15 (with a suspended license) and February 27 (driving 75Mph. down Sunset Blvd./drunk).
... YOU try that sometime and see what the judge does to YOU, pard!

I've been driving for 50 years, never got but three tickrts, 1 for speeding, two for passing on a solid yellow. I was guilty all three times, paid my fine without whining. Newer had a DUI, wife always drives when I drink.
My sister got a DUI, speeding, wrong side of road, hit another car head on, other driver DOA, Guilty of felony vehicular homicide, bet your ass she doesn't drink and drive. She's not a hipocrit either, she freely admits what she did and gives testimony for why no one should drink and drive. She has to live with the memory every day since 1983.0
