This killer is my wifes cousin. Killed his parents, classmates and wounded alot more. Even had explosive devices for the Police when they came to the house ( after he was arrested ). He will spend the rest of his life in prison.

It appeared the Campus Police responded to a Domestic Violence situation. They made the call that all was secure at the location and did not feel the need to escalate the situation further. Because looking at the situation now shows that they were in error, does not diminish that AT THE TIME, making the call that they did was the prudent one.
All here who make the judgment that they did not do enough are just playing armchair quarterback. YOU WERE NOT THERE! What would you have done is moot. Don0 -
My nephew goes to VA Tech. He was in class. There was no indication that there would be more. You cant stop campus life everytime a crime is committed even if it is murder. 0 -
Well, I guess this is all news to me in this day and age. Two people killed in the dorms, and you just proceed as if there is nothing wrong. No reason, or identification of the killer, and all goes on as normal,.........something seems wrong to me.

Picture this Mo: You are the President of a school/university, and this University is, say, unique, in that it is a one-half mile long strip of buildings, all in a straight line, with each one connected to the other by walkways. The reason that it is laid out in this manner is due to the lay of the land, which would not accomodate any other design as well as this one. At one end of the university are dorms, and all other classrooms are located at the opposite end of the campus. All other institutional offices being in buildings in the middle of this long strip. At 7:00 AM it is reported and confirmed that two students have been murdered by a a gunmen, or gunmen at the first dorm located at the end of the building. I think that any public establishment (resteraunt, grocery store, even colleges)that refuse to allow people with a carry permit to carry on their property should be held accountable if any harm should come to that person

People here are speculating on what MEN would do. These are students. And no offense to any engineers here, but....engineering students at that. I know a lot of engineers. Most are liberal minded, have to think situations through a LOOONG time before making a decision or taking action, and typically would not be the type of people I'd want to be relying on to stop a gunman.
Today pi$$es me off so bad it is indescribable. It is not the police or SWAT team's fault. There is a thing called 'response time'. Chances are it's going to be 30 min.+. A lot can happen in a 30 min. period.
To start out, the schools, public transportation, hospitals, they all SHOULD HAVE the repsonsibility of protecting their occupants from this. A handful of maybe armed, maybe unarmed security guards on a campus this huge is a JOKE! What do they expect.
Next, people have a responsibility to defend themselves. I'd venture to say many many people were behind this guy at any given point. If anybody could have been armed, prepared, and had the will to do something, most of these people could have been saved.
People in America today are W-I-M-P-S! Big ones at that. It's what their wimpy parents teach them. It's what the wimpy news media teaches them. It's what their wimpy college professors teach them. They are sheep and this will have the same result EVERY TIME until we turn this thing around. People need to start caring about their sons, teaching them and making MEN out of them. Instead of letting the schools and the tv raise them.
And then we need to erase this fear of guns and start arming people. Guns are our freinds! The general public ARE the first responders, EVERY TIME. It's no secret. Somebody needs to be trained, armed, ready willing and able to do what needs to be done.

First of all, I am a full time student at my university, and I might see 1 cop on campus in 1 months time. And all of them do not even have a gun on them. If the students and teachers were able to legally exercise their hard earned CCW's on campus there would be no need for security or predicting the guys next move, cause he would be dead after the first shots were heard.0 -

I agree. Now supposing that I did, having my concealed carry permit and a handgun, brought that said gun onto my campus one day and brought it hidden in my backpack. Now I have no intention of killing anyone, and I have no reason to take out the gun in class, because I am there to learn. But I am breaking the law by having the gun, because at every entrance there is a sign posted saying that firearms are illegal and violators will be prosecuted. Now suppose some wacko busts into my class and starts shooting people for no apparent reason. If this actually happened as described above, I would immediately take out my gun and take the guy out, and then make sure there are no others involved as well. I know right now and am convinced that by doing this, no matter how many lives I might save, that my life is over, whether I get killed or not. So there are two possibilities, either I get shot and die, or I am arrested and put in jail, banned from school so I could never go back or graduate, probably get fired from all of my jobs, and have my life ruined because of this a hole who wants to kill my friends and everyone else. If it did happen as I have described, I have long since decided that no matter the outcome I would do all that I am able to do to stop him and save the lives of even one person, because it is the right thing to do. I do not plan on having any help from any police officer, because they are almost nonexistant on my campus, and help would be at least 30 minutes away. It is up to the students and the teachers to take care of the situation, and that is why I believe all good people ought to be armed at all times.0 -
I dont know if anyone posted this info yet but a CCW license is good on any post secondary campus unless signs are posted banning it. I just looked it up in my CCW book to make sure. Maybe other states are different than KY's. laws though. 0 -

Are you sure? I am in NC and at every entrance there is a big sign that says that firearms are not permitted on campus. It has been a while since my CCW class, but that means no guns at all, whether carried open or concealed right?0 -
Probably all of us here own and/or drive cars. If some crazy killer had just driven his car into a crowd leaving a professional sports event and killed hundreds, none of us here would feel any association or guilt to that heinous crime just because we own car.
But since the VA crime involved guns, sadly many of us here feel some kind of responsibility or at least some kind of association to the crime. Or at the least we feel that the crime somehow reflects badly on gun owners like us.
How sad. Sad that liberal society has brainwashed us to feel unjustified guilt.0
