We're still under lockdown here on campus. Anyone out there have any information on what's going on? 0 -
i just heard on CNN, that there are reporting at LEAST 20 dead. they have yet to confirm that number. (that number came from VA tech officials)
shooter reportedly took the "easy way out" [}:)][:(!]
supposedly only 1 gunman. several different crime scenes..0 -
At least 20 student's dead. Most were in classroom's. Done by an Asian male. He was loaded for bear and went from classroom to classroom unloading on student's. This is freakin horrible. 0 -

20 Dead? I've been seeing reports of up to 20 wounded....
Get ready for a knee-jerk reaction from Washington [B)]0 -
Tragic, monstrous and utterly senseless carnage.
Yet, it is all the more reason why gun control doesn't work.
All of those innocent and law-abiding students were literally "sitting ducks" in their seats as this gunman fired away at them.
If guns on campus were allowed and if only one of these students was carrying a gun and had the opportunity to use it in self-defense, how much sooner would this madman's rampage have been stopped and how many of those now dead students would still be alive?
What a terrible, terrible waste of human life.[:(][:(][:(][V]0 -
22 dead, 28 wounded at current count. I freaked. My daughter is a student there and just went back last night.
I called her and she's home & ok (Thank you, God) but she's very upset. Jesus, this is worse than Ohio State or Columbine. God help those poor families. [V]0 -
Here we go again! These things defy logic and stink to high Heaven. For the ones pushing an "assault rifle" ban the timing is perfect. We may be saying goodbye to the ARs, AKs, HKs, etc. 0 -

+1 on this. It is an absolute shame. Of course the libs will see this as another oppurtunity to make more gun laws.0 -
Something else for the lefties to grab on to.
Horrible news for anyone.0 -
When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns... 0 -
Require students and teachers,RA's who pass rigid standards to carry concelaed, along with Doctors, airline stewards, etc... 0 -

I fully agree. Concealed carry among average everyday qualified strangers - does she or doesn't she? - makes a potential nutcase think a little bit more before trying anything - OR - at the very least, enables one of them to put an end to his attack a whole lot sooner and save others.0 -

The general public will respond with outrage and a strong anti "assault weapons" sentiment. As I watch the breaking news the anti gun propaganda machine is already in high gear, it almost seems they were ready for something like this.
Hopefully, he was a Muslim terrorist or an illegal alien.0 -
Glad Spider's daughter is OK!
One guy on FOX speculated that this guy must have an AK or AR...and they aren't that easy to buy. Then he said even if it's a Glock,it can fire 17 shots in 6 seconds... THis guy has no knowledge just speculating out his butt.0 -

Fantasy, never fly. The general public will respond with outrage and a very strong anti "assault weapons" sentiment. As I watch the breaking news the anti gun propaganda machine is already in high gear, it's almost like they were prepared for action on something like this.0 -

Thanks, Capt. It's still a horrible tragedy. [:(]0 -

We'll see pigs fly before they allow CCW on campus0 -

And what happens when one of those people goes ballistic. ?!?
Not if........ WHEN !!!!
In my opinion, there's no way to safeguard against this.
If you put up strict security-checks - you'd end up with strictly dead security.
If you pass more laws, making it harder for anyone to get a gun - you've done nothing - it'll happen again. Criminals will get or use the guns on hand..
If you allow teachers and/or students to carry concealed - you prearrange a way of getting guns into school.
Two things may come - the nutzo gets shot and the teacher/student gets sued but lives - the nutzo uses the system to get weapons inside and the system fails and you end up with stricter rules and have gained nothing.0 -
+1 on Spider's daughter. 0 -
There's a White House press conference going on. Some "nappy headed" reporter is already arguing for stronger gun control laws. [:(!] 0 -

Just carrying a gun doesnt increase the chances of someone going balistic. This is how the anti-gunners think. Id like to know how many CCW's have lost it and just started shooting. My bet it hasnt happened. Guns arent going away, but if we leave our schools, airports, hospitals, unarmed you can bet that these shootings wont go away either.0 -

It's worse than the Texas University killings by Whitman. It's good to know that your daughter is okay, Spider. There's going to be untold agony for a great many families and friends.0 -
I feel badly for the victims and their families and I feel badly for all of us law-abiding gun owners.
Neither of us did anything wrong, but both of us will suffer for it.0 -
"NBC's Pete Williams said two law enforcement officials told him the gunman killed himself. They also said the gunman used two 9-mm handguns during the rampage, Williams reported. He said the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms was trying to track the weapons."
At least he wasn't using the dreaded black guns...but not that it matters to the anti gun whackos anyways. Prayers for all the unarmed victims.0 -

If you allow teachers and/or students to carry concealed - you prearrange a way of getting guns into school. For some reason you have forgotten there are "good hands" for guns to be in and there are "bad hands" for guns to be in. I myself prefer as many guns in "good hands" as possible, and as few guns in "bad hands" as possible.
Two things may come - the nutzo gets shot and the teacher/student gets sued but lives - the nutzo uses the system to get weapons inside and the system fails and you end up with stricter rules and have gained nothing.[red] The "nutzo" will ALWAYS find a way, regardless of how strict you come down on the peaceful, lawful citizens
Some of your post is a partial blueprint for an argument that all guns be outlawed. But since murder has been "outlawed" for over 100 years, such restrictive gun laws obviously will not solve the problem since criminals don't obey laws. As evidenced by the ongoing murders.
I think you already know this and actually feel that way, but the only answer is to give as many choices for the lawful, peaceful citizens to use in protecting themselves and ATTEMPT to give as few choices as possible to the criminals in their plans to attack those lawful, peaceful citizens.0 -

Yeah, but you know Pelosi and "The Brady Bunch" are going to use this to push HR1022 through anyway. Yes, this is worse than the University of Texas killings in 1966 by Whitman (15 dead, 31 wounded) and we all know that influenced the 1968 Gun Control Act.
I need to get back to work but thank you all for your kind words about my daughter. I already lost one at age 20 and couldn't handle losing another one. [V]0 -
