I met a rotten cop today
You know, one of those punks who wanted to be a state BOY and wound up a local cop, just out of the local community college and flunked the state police exam a couple times, with student loans to pay and all, took the job as a city cop to pay the bills but remains convinced that he deserves better and anything he says is gospel regardless of to whom he says it.
I was getting a cup of coffee on my way to work. I got out of my car wearing a clean white shirt and a pair of magenta pants. Piggy bpy was getting out of his cruiser and couldn't resist the opportunity to comment on my clothes. "Nice pants."
"They work for me," I muttered in dismissing him without the second's hesitation he clearly hoped would establish his "dominance." I continued without even being annoyed by his ignorance.
He got to the counter first and left. When I got to the counter I was met by the clerk who commented, "Guess he never saw scrubs before." My response was, "whatever," knowing I had a tough day ahead of me and that I have the ego boundaries to not let this jerk (the pig boy, not the clerk) make it a bad one before it started.
I thanked the clerk for mentioning that he has a lot of respect for people who work in hospitals, and that he knows that he couldn't do what I do. I told him that he shouldn't sell himself short before I left.
Something about hiding behind a badge makes the "job" so attractive to pigs. I worked with them for 9 months. Only a few were well adjusted people, most were so full of themselves that they didn't function well at all without the authority of their office.
I'm an RN, and I'm in the line of fire eevry day. Not good enough for ego boy, I guess. Without the clerk's praise I would have just written it off to some other ignorant meanie wannabe pig and forgotten about it.
Doing what I do I am faced with the fact that many in the medical field aspire to work here first for power and secondly for humanitarian reasons. Knowing this I remain convinced that positions in law "enforcement" are attractive to those who share that former drive.
I ran into a bad cop today. Who can say where he will burn out? He has proven himself unfit where I am concerned. I'm certain that there are worse than him, not certain as to just how bad he can be.

Great story and relevant to...what??
Anyway, thanks so much for posting.[:o)]0 -
"Line of fire?"
I didn't know RNs were fired upon. I have been a couple of times but I guess if wanted the real action I would have been an RN instead of deputy sheriff.
My mistake.
By the way, nice pants!0 -
YAWN.........
Get a grip funny pants.0 -

Heh, heh, heh....he said "nice pants".....magenta, weren't they?
Let me see, magenta pantaloons, womans career, makes fun of cops, tries to say he works in the "line of fire", cracks on those who actually do work in the line of fire.....Sounds like a "male identity crisis" of some kind.[:o)]
Don't usually stoop to these kind of juvenile responses to moronic posts, but two Rolling Rocks and a Single Malt on the rocks and, well, h ell, its kind of enjoyable.[;)]0 -
relax man, holy crap, whats the big deal 0 -
...oh yes, life saver, stand in line to take orders from the doctor and wear your nice pants! I thought the term pig left when the hippies did? I hope you treat the people that you come in contact with better and with more respect then you gave the officer.

Lets see I had to deal with a hospital concerning a client recently, I had to deal with an RN with a bad attitude that thought he was
far more important than he was.
Bad apples in all professions....including yours blckhrn0 -
Blackhorn you just aint right are you boy? 0 -
Blckhrn....don't worry. Some people say things only because they think they are funny and don't realize that the planet is not their stage. I have done it before. I was on the phone with one of my kids (those who know me a little can guess the one it was) and I got a little "worked up"
out of nowhere here I am....mumbling to myself when this 20-something year old, dark complexion, scars on top of scars, mean looking THUG.....steps up in front of me. I don't know if he wanted shells, a gun, directions, but that guy got the entire speach that I would have given my child if I were still on the phone. I know he thought I had lost my ever-lovin mind...because he looked over at his friend and said....."wut WRONG wit her!?" And they left.
Everyone has their days. He may have just been thinking "boy am I gifted in the art of gab...and EVERYONE just thinks I am so hilarious." You just got the brunt of his ego.0 -
So, uhhh, somebody made fun of your pants?
And then somebody else said they didn't think they had the stomach for the job you do?
Truly, it is a hard life for some of us.0 -
You should have asked him where is the rest of The village People ?

let me get this straight...you wear magenta pants into a public area and you wonder why someone comments about them?
i dont see anything wrong with the cop. im sure it wasnt a man thing. he was being social.
maybe its me, but if i walked down a public street with a parachute on my back, im sure it would draw attention. yet, other people are allowed to wear their weird uniforms in public and we're suppose to ignore it? this falls under the 'i wonder why he raped me' situation. you know, a girl dresses like a ho and wonders why men look at them with certain intent.
remember back in the 80's when wearing pajama sweats was the rage? all the wwf guys started it and it caught on. first they were loose, then they got tighter, next thing ya know you had spandex. [xx(] call it what you want, but it made you look like a fag wearing pj's in public.
i wonder how fast the liberty tax statue guy gets out of his daily uniform. im sure he wouldnt want to be caught dead in it after his shift.
no, i think you set yourself up. dress more proper as not to stick out like a sore thumb and im sure he wouldnt have even given you a glance. then again, he's a cop PAID TO WATCH the publc.
be glad he did.
btw, why would you want to wear scrubs into public where the environment is not clean and then walk into a hospital? arent you suppose to dress up at work?
its my opinion and im sticking to it. dont be hurt. i still like ya.

Hmmm, interesting theory Bobski. Nice to know you're taking a page out of the Islamic Fundementalist playbook... i.e. blame the victim. Of course its the womans fault. Its only natural for men to rape. If only she had been wearing a burka, then none of this would have happened...
Get real. Rapists target all women, not just those who are scantily dressed.0 -
Seems your skin is a little too thin. Magenta pants. I don't get the rant though. Sounds like a Alpha Male stuck in a Beta Female role. I don't know...I guess you proved you're a man already by wearing magenta pants.[:D]

Because he commented on your friggin' pants?!!
I wouldn't want somebody like you working at any hospital I needed.
I'd say your judgemental, pathetic and juvenile attitude make you unfit to work in health care.
perhaps, though, you're just burned out.
Grow up and grow a set.0 -
it doesnt take a rocket scientist or a muslim religion to figure this one out. if you dress to be seen, you will be seen.
what part of duh, dont you understand.
uniforms dont define a person, CHARACTER does.
anyone who wears weird things in PUBLIC sends the signal that theyre weird.
proper social behaviour USE TO BE an american custom. the 'do what is right in your own eyes,' theory has ruined us. which side are you on?
and for the record, personally i dont like seeing scrubs in public. granted the medical field is a respectable field, but its not just about life saving, it also is about death. and when i see scrubs in public, death is what comes to mind more often than life. i shouldnt have to see it. its bad enough when i must go to a hospital. i dont like seeing it walking around buying coffee in a 7/11. 50 years ago it would have been considered shameful and unprofessional to wear scrubs in public. now i see interns eating in fancy resterauts where suit and ties are accepted. whats happened to america? this...'anything goes' tolerence has gotten out of control and i for one wont have anything to do with it.
america has become a society of pushing it to the limit, and then some. always notching it up one more level.
the days coming folks. stray all we want, we will be yanked back.0 -

YEAH I HATE DUMBASS COPS 0 -
Well Now , Lets See ...
You dress like a flaming fruit in public , make some crazy off the wall so seemed perceptions about some-one and something that you know NOTHING about , claim to be 'in the line of fire everyday (notic I spelled it correctly)', all because he made a comment about your 'dress'....
Ha!Ha!ha!
Sounds as if YOU are the one with real issues !!!

I am with bobski on the scrubs part.
I work in a clinic and we are not allowed to wear our scrubs out of the clinic for any reason other than an emergency evacuation of said clinic. We must change back into our military uniform to go to lunch or appointments or to go to and from work/home.
The reason behind this is not a professional image. It is INFECTION CONTROL!!! Think about this one a minute. You want to sit next to a person that is wearing scrubs that people have coughed on, sneezed on, touched, possibly wiped secretions on? Not me. The first thing I do upon end of the day is go home and take a shower. There are so many aerosols in the clinics that you dont have a clue what is on your skin and in your hair.
If you work in a medical environment, the acronym "OPIM" should be very familiar to you (Other Potentially Infectious Material). It covers the gambit from skin secretions, to oral secretions to other orifices. [xx(]
Think about what might be on those scrubs next time you see them sitting in a restaurant or in the store.0 -

You deduced all of that from "nice pants?"
You know, there was a story in the news recently about 2, not 1 but 2 nurses who killed patients with drug ODs for a variety of personal reasons.
Obviously all nurses are murderers, right?0 -
Maybe he really liked the pants?....and what was in them.[:p] 0 -

THANK YOU!!! I need a laugh today, and you provided it.
That's funny right there. I don't care who ya are. The original post, that is.
Magenta??? Magenta??? What the heck color is magenta???0 -
I'm still trying to figure out how he knows the guy's whole life story from him saying "nice pants."
Blckhrn is the one who should have been a cop. He'd be the greatest detective since Dick Tracy.0 -
I thought Magenta was something like spandex or something. [:I] [:0] 0
