I met a rotten cop today
You know, one of those punks who wanted to be a state BOY and wound up a local cop, just out of the local community college and flunked the state police exam a couple times, with student loans to pay and all, took the job as a city cop to pay the bills but remains convinced that he deserves better and anything he says is gospel regardless of to whom he says it.
I was getting a cup of coffee on my way to work. I got out of my car wearing a clean white shirt and a pair of magenta pants. Piggy bpy was getting out of his cruiser and couldn't resist the opportunity to comment on my clothes. "Nice pants."
"They work for me," I muttered in dismissing him without the second's hesitation he clearly hoped would establish his "dominance." I continued without even being annoyed by his ignorance.
He got to the counter first and left. When I got to the counter I was met by the clerk who commented, "Guess he never saw scrubs before." My response was, "whatever," knowing I had a tough day ahead of me and that I have the ego boundaries to not let this jerk (the pig boy, not the clerk) make it a bad one before it started.
I thanked the clerk for mentioning that he has a lot of respect for people who work in hospitals, and that he knows that he couldn't do what I do. I told him that he shouldn't sell himself short before I left.
Something about hiding behind a badge makes the "job" so attractive to pigs. I worked with them for 9 months. Only a few were well adjusted people, most were so full of themselves that they didn't function well at all without the authority of their office.
I'm an RN, and I'm in the line of fire eevry day. Not good enough for ego boy, I guess. Without the clerk's praise I would have just written it off to some other ignorant meanie wannabe pig and forgotten about it.
Doing what I do I am faced with the fact that many in the medical field aspire to work here first for power and secondly for humanitarian reasons. Knowing this I remain convinced that positions in law "enforcement" are attractive to those who share that former drive.
I ran into a bad cop today. Who can say where he will burn out? He has proven himself unfit where I am concerned. I'm certain that there are worse than him, not certain as to just how bad he can be.

Blckhrn, you're clearly overreacting. while i don't regard police myself, this just doesn't look like the cop meant anything but to be funny, but who knows, i wasn't there. 0 -
You know whats sad, blackhorn tells of an expierence involving a dick headed cop, who had no business saying what he said, especiallyl while in his uniform, and of all the responses, locust fork, jamesRK, and MND were the only ones not knocking on his pants. Yall LEO apologist need to grow way the hell up. 0 -

Except when I am working, I wear what pleases me and bloody well don't care what anyong thinks about it.
I don't think anyone was busting on Blckhrn too much. I, for one, thought the post was a gag, just from the mention of the color "magenta."
Even if he was dead serious, which I doubt, I thought he was being a bit sensitive about a casual remark that probably would have been taken as a compliment by the next guy.
If I am piggy boy, are you nursie poo?0 -
Well, this would have pi$$ed me off too, although I probably wouldn't have posted it on here.
I know what Magenta is, but rarely use the term. I don't think the cops line of work factors in as strongly as what is perceived here.
I would have chalked it up to simply meeting yet another a-hole in public. I may think whatever I'm going to think about what somebody wears (although I kind of gave that up in junior high) but I would never bother making a comment to a stranger about it. That is showing a pretty weak disposition, as in having to put down someone in order to feel good about yourself. Most people leave that behind in junior high.
Some though, will still feel inadequate into adulthood. Maybe why he chose to be a cop, who knows?0 -
Didn't sound like a gag to me. 0 -
He said "nice pants" for God's sake. Even if it was meant to be sarcastic get a grip. This hardly constitutes a biting insult or an abuse of authority. The fact that anyone has his BVDs in a bunch over this just goes to show how unreasonable and over sensitive some of us have become.
Anyone who thinks "nice pants" is a deadly insult should see the emails I get from forum members. Anyone who thinks "nice pants" is awful obviously doesn't have enough real trouble in his life. I wish to God that somebody commenting on my trousers was the worst problem I had in my life.
By the way, I know what magenta looks like. Anyone who has studied photography can recognize magenta and cyan for that matter as magenta (a red), cyan (a blue) and yellow are the colors used to make color photos. All the colors seen in a photographic print are made by combining these three basic colors.0 -

Well Now , Lets See ...
You dress like a flaming fruit in public , make some crazy off the wall so seemed perceptions about some-one and something that you know NOTHING about , claim to be 'in the line of fire everyday (notic I spelled it correctly)', all because he made a comment about your 'dress'....
Ha!Ha!ha!
Sounds as if YOU are the one with real issues !!!
Sincerely !

I guess I don't know how a flaming fruit dresses. I buy my work clothes on sale, and I don't give a bleen what color they are. Fact is that they are XXXL, and I only need XL but they were long enough.
Another fact is that if this punk didn't hae anything respectful to say to someone who OBVIOUSLY works in a service area he should mhave said nothing at all. The punk needs to reserve his inane comments at least to someone who actually falls into the area of his actual authority. Maybe I'm placing myself in a certain era that involves showing respect for anyone but he was out of line but as I see it, this wannabe punk, lacking any real purpose in his egocentric life, ordained himself the fashion police for lack of any legitimate complaint.
Alpine, I am in the line of fire. I deal with not only antibiotic resistant strains of virulent pathogens every day but also terminal diseases and venipuncture on HIV, Hep B and C and possibly pathogens that have yet to be recognized. It's all good in your small little world that this punk has license to say whatever he will to whoever he will just because some idiot granted him the power he aspires to but is not entitled to but you are one of them. The only difference is that, if you get a bullet, you will be taken care of. I will be thrown to the dogs. The thing that makes me better than him is that, if I don't have something nice to say to someone, I say nothing.
Alpine, You're thinking that you should have the opportunity to catch me speeding right now, for example. The difference between me and you is that I would treat you the same as anyone else. Enjoy your "power." I hope it bites you in the ass someday, you deserve it.0 -
You sure are an intuitive person, aren't you? To be able to totally analyze a stranger from a two-word comment? Wow. You are wasting your life as a RN. 0 -
Sorry Blckhrn I retired 15 years ago. But all those things you mention, I addressed in the field before calling for an ambulance so they could come into your ER.
I think you missed your real calling if you can psychoanalyze a person from a two word response.
Get a real life, this one is missing a soul.0 -

He should have said nothing, I deleted your personal insult and I have had enough of your insulting remarks and of you. I had a Bic lighter that came from Labatt's brewery once, set it down on a table in a bar once while playing pool there. I came back and it was missing. I started talking about the fact that someone who would steal a $0.79 lighter would do anything. Next time I turned around there was a dollar bill on the table where my lighter had been.
I just swept it onto the floor.
Anyone who will do a $0.79 crime will do a million dollar crime.
The end.0 -

You flatter yourself with the assumption that you can recognize a soul and with your belief that you are entitled to pass judgement. I really wonder just how much corruption you either committed or encouraged in your illustrious career. Right is right and wrong is wrong, doesn't matter if you wear a badge or not. The pig had no business saying anything at all to me, but I see that you are not equipped to ascertain the difference between the rights of a taxpayer and those of a pig.0 -
What if I THINK I would do a million dollar crime.....but I wouldn't take your lighter! Am I a bad girl? [:I]
Lets not fuss you guys....you are all good people here!0 -
He should have said nothing? Just ignored you altogether? Then, he would have been a stuck-up snob or something, right?
Did it occur to you that he liked your pants and was paying you a compliment?
If he said, "Nice car," instead of "nice pants," would you have been offended?
I have learned something. When I go to the convenience store at the beginning of my shift to get a cup of coffee, I have to stare at the floor and not speak to anyone, lest I be psycho-analyzed on the spot and labeled some sort of loser.0 -
You will stop referring to police officers as "pig" at once, and forever, on this forum. Got it? 0 -

See Nunn, I dont have the least bit of problem with cops. Rookies, I hate. Senior cops, no problems
If this was any other topic it would be locked, so get at it, would ya?0 -

Now, that is about a silly statement. No offense intended.
Where do you think we get senior cops? There ain't a factory making them. They have to start out as rookies.0 -
I thought to myself "Why has this thread not been poofed yet." I finally read this thread. I understand. It was quite a friendly read. 0 -

David I"m in agreement with you on this, a person should not generalize a comment such as that. What if however, the person, be he a cop, or not, is truly a pig? Pig meaning that they practice and preach one thing while on a power trip, yet do that which they preach against.0 -

I wasn't going to tell about this, but since this appears to be the thread that won't die anyway, I'll throw it in:
When I first read this post, it reminded me of my mother-in-law. Long, long ago when my mother-in-law was still alive I took my wife over to her sister's house for a visit. Her mother was already there and the wife asked her how her day was. She said her day got off to a really bad start. She said when she went to work that morning, before she even took her coat off, Sidney (her boss) said "Good morning Kathy". She said "If I'd had my gun with me, I'd have shot him right between his beady little eyes." You could tell she was still infuriated just telling about it. I had to chew on my tongue to keep for laughing or saying something. Of course, if he hadn't said anything, she would have been insulted because he ignored her.0 -
