Best .22 Target Pistol
Hey Guys I need your opinion. What is one of the best and most accurate .22 pistols. I have heard myself Colt woodsman match target, is this true or is there a better one out there? any help would be great

wallie, all you seem to be able to do is slam hi-stds. name your choice please. please put here what youre best choice is. then, justify it. im at least willing to put my choice on the line and im fielding all inputs. why cant you?
and most of all....define in your opinion what best means?
i can list 10 page damage reports on just about any gun made too. it doesnt prove a thing. fact is...hi standard offers the buyer the most options and the best fit for the money. and because of close tolerences, guns built like this must be cared for.
and most of all...i want to hear our original posters inputs. all he seems to have done is ask and back off into some corner and not help us define what his best request is for!0 -

but i'm not a young man any more and i'm very busy like with this dancing and I'm not as fast or as good as i use-to be...why I have to take care of these girls[8D],, sure U can talk U probably have just One to take care of[:)]
Okay back to HI-Standards..... It's a great gun and I really enjoy shooting it...it's a shame the co. went to hell but that's that and I'm not going to bad mouth it any more[;)]....just to say that the HS's I was talking about were heavy used guns like 5,000 plus rounds a year
What gun would i pick.....it has problems too, like U said they all do,,,but it has an excellent track record
It won the first World Chamionship in 1914, it won 17 out of 19 world chamionships, it won countless gold medals, the world is using it, we are using this pistol
Now if I was a young shooter with high shooting interests and read and seen this......I would say to myself wallie 1 hole

why so many winners..so many different hands, what am i missing
why so much money....why just buy one for 200-400.00 or so after all it the shooter not the gun

here is a test given to 290 plus shooters in the 60's,,,i know some
of these guys used hi-standards, but given guns that were not match quality their scores dropped considerably

So accurate I can usually hit my shed with at least 2 of the chambers.

semi autos werent that popular in small cal.'s until post ww2 and revolvers were the most go to gun around. when prewar american semi's were out, the most were geared to utility duty. only a handful were actually built for match from the ground up, (elephant ear NM colt, and imagine that, high standard had the model d and e!) and too, the k series s&w's were great guns. and the guns you mentioned were popular. granted, but the game changed. revolvers fell out of vogue. like everything else, things change. and too, keep in mind, a lot of those revolvers you mentioned were TRICKED OUT. i/e: king conversions etc...
now, we all now know your choice. 'the hammer.' nice gun. not american made nor cheap, but still a nice gun, (designed after the american 41.) the hammers success is directly based on the genius of other incorporated gun designs. not really fair to stand off to the side and say 'the hammer' is best and oh by the way, its because we watched all the rest of you make the mistakes for us and here, take our product without them. and now pay us twice the cost of your gun, and oh...sorry youre out of business, we arent. please take my list of 23 points and go down the list and start answering them yes or no. can 'the hammer' match them point for point?
so this is my challenge based on facts. nothing cruel intended, nor am i desperatley trying to defend my choice. try as anyone may, my choice will never change. but for the sake of our poster, please try to compare your choice to my choice and give our reader some insight...besides 'i love my gun' and 'here is a pic of an undocumented target with holes in it,' isnt enough.
in order to be a top fuel drag king, it takes a lot of engines. sometimes to be high gun, it takes a lot of guns. any choice of any gun can fail, break, or go out at the worst time and the mear fact that its a PRECISION TOOL makes it even more prone to break. closer tolerences dont allow for one spec of error. its why gunsmiths can feed families. and its why mercedes benz and porcshe dealers have service depts.

so lets set up a scenero....youre shooting your hammer. some father and his 14 year old 80 lbs soaking wet daughter is watching you one point down. he wants her to shoot but she cant pick up your gun. its too heavy. so you reach in your bag and......do what?
if it was me with my hi std, i'd slide off the slide and bbl, slip on a 22 short 4" with alloy slide, change mags and let her shoot.

I picked this gun because it is the BEST in my mind and (one) of the proven TOP DOG WORLD LEADERS
I don't care if a gun has 123 points if it can't run with the BIG DOGS
In todays high competition world U have to look at all the avenues for success
remember,,,U want to be the BEST and U need every insight possible
U want the best equipment, U want to be # 1 not #2 not #3 U want to be the top DOG and to do this U have to research and U can't go back in time and say David used a model 00 slingshot to slay 1 giant and this slingshot had 50 good points....that don't cut it in todays world

they may be the most accurate, but not nessessarily the best.
if someone came in 2nd place at the olympics with one, odds are, as accurate as it may be, it would end up on the for sale board as they started looking for one BETTER.[;)][:)]0
