Thanks for the info, dongismo. I'll google this individual later on and see what I've missed. I've made my point on this issue. I am not now a do-it-my-way-zero-tolerance person. Who knows what the future will bring, besides a cane and a new set of glasses, of course.

    Thank you, Kimi.

I realize that I infuriate many people with my delivery.

Kimi...I have soft-soaped the message of how dangerous it is for governments to control arms for many, many years. Seems to roll off peoples' back like water...

I changed, back a few years ago..and today I poke people where they hurt. Their pride in being American....

Makes me a rather unlikable individual..I understand. But it is all worth it if ONE person decides that compromise is the death of our freedoms.
God bless and Merry Christmas...may the New Years be a time of Peace and Prosperity to you and yours.

We all get more set in our ways and how we think as the years go by, Highball, and you would know that too. Actually, I do not find you unlikable in the least, you're the kind of guy everyone needs to know, if you ask me. I enjoy reading your postings.

Prosperity to you and yours, too, Highball!

    None of your business..as a U.S. citizen.

What IS your business is securing your A.O...being armed well enough and trained enough to take out some perp that is a threat to you and yours.
THAT, friend, is the way it should be.

Why hell, if that is the case, we should allow illegals to buy firearms in our country. For that matter, we should drop the age limit on buying them also (every hotheaded 12 year old boy or girl should be able to buy a handgun). And ex. felons, we cant let them go without guns either. We ought to be able to buy them for other people if we choose. And people with restraining orders against them should be able to purchase a gun in fear of retaliation. Background checks? Why do we need them? Hell, I guess you people think guns should be sold at every convience store to anyone with the cash. Maybe you should read about the foundation of our country, read it twice if necessary. In the mean time, I will refer you to my LAST post directed at YOU.

You either miss what "shall not be infringed" means or you purposly are not being honest.

When the NRA "comprimises" WE are the ONLY ones giving ANYTHING up. The left wing wacko are the ONLY ones that GAIN a footing.

WE would have been better OFF to either win the fight or lose it. NO comprimise, at all, anytime. Neal's son Jeff, in the recent SGN, just put that to print.

Personally I think it would have put an end to the fight RIGHT THERE. The anti gun agenda now is in motion, because of COMPRIMISE on gun owners part. The gunners gave the anti's reconition that they were "right" somehow. NOW we have to contend with the beast WE helped create, either by destroying it all together, or allow it to destroy US. Remember the anti's agenda EXISTS BECAUSE WE GAVE THEM A FOOT IN THE DOOR.

As long as we continue to accept the NRA's comprimise, and we continue to allow the anti's to push their agenda, we will have gun control.

It has to stop SOMEWHERE Kimi, and people are getting smarter. The dues are stopping. We DEMAND our rights back. People are getting ready to "show" the political scum bags where we stand.

Can you feel it in the air yet? Can you hear the fife playing in the distance? It may be faint, but it's getting louder.

    freemind:

I fully understand what "infringed" means here. And, you are right in reference to your compromise point the way you present it.

I don't know Neal, Jeff, or what they have done, so I can't speak to that. However, I do know that the effects of Zero-tolerance tactics on a non-isolated population will create a division among many of the people who would otherwise be on the same side if a fight were to break out. Which brings me back to the point that GB members, from what I know, back the 2nd Amendment. So, why attempt to fracture our small community here, or anywhere else for that matter, when in the final analysis, we would fight for our beliefs in a more effective manner should we foster teamwork instead?

The Anti-Gun crowd has been in motion for ages, and for ages now, millions of people have fought the good fight the best way they have known how. The Anti-gun crowd is not anywhere near new, however, it is more dangerous today, simply because of the snow-balling effect of Anti-American activities since the birth of our nation.

Step with a full-30 on the beat of the base. [:)][;)]

You said you knew nothing of Knox's. I am showing your thier organization, with their commentaries.

I gather that it is another side to the issue, if you are willing to take it in. Remember that Neal was a long standing memeber of the NRA and shared some of the views some people express here. The Knox's seem to have a very good view of the RTKABA.

In laymens terms, can someone tell me exactly why they dont like this bill? When I read the whole thing, all I got from it was people with diagnosed mental problems in their life wont be able to buy guns. My mother has worked with the mentally ill for over 30 years now and she can tell you that there is no help for these people. As long as they stay on their meds., they are better but they are still not quite right.
I may be missing the point of this bill so please explain it to me.

With all due respect, forklift, is your mom a doctor? If so, that is the first time I have heard this prognosis from a professional in the mental health field. While it's true that some people inherit genes that give them the proclivity to mental disorders, some disorders are caused by outside influences. Many people with mental disabilities find their illness subsides with age. Some to the point that they have to take no or little medication at all. My middle daughter is bipolar, or manic/depressive. She has fought this for about 15 years. She is currently raising two of the sharpest, most well adjusted children I have ever known. While she has been hospitalized on more than one occasion, she has never been considered a threat to herself or anyone else. As time goes on, she has learned to deal with this and is on less and less medication.
My point is, those who need hospitalization for mental illness aren't locked up in the "looney bin". Many if not most go on to live normal productive lives. However, thanks to 2640, they will never be allowed to own a firearm.

Thanks for the info you stated but it still did not answer my questions. If a person is on meds. for any mental illness, they dont need to own firearms. The meds. may make them balanced, but what could happen if they quit taking them? Who can insure me as a U.S. citizen that those people wont stop taking their meds.?
I'll answer you useing myself as an example!

I am on meds for my PTSD! Mine are primarily sleeping medications as I suffer from extream nightmares and without meds I wake up in cold sweats and such.

I cannot gaurentee anyone that I will allways take my meds!

I am in no way a threat without them (unless you want to count how tired I would be after a few nights of very little sleep and me getting in my Bronco and driving) but it is really non of anyones buisness except mine if I take them or not!

A person who is off there meds and is going to go out and go nuts can still get a gun if that is what they want to do with or without any laws!

Do you think most of these young gang bangers are going to the local gun shop to buy thier guns? No they are getting them from some hoodelum standing on the corner selling stolen guns!

There is no laws you could pass to keep a gun away from someone if they really wanted to have a gun!

There are some here who think that the gun control laws are "for our own safety and protection". [V][V]

I believe in the right to bear arms, I bear many, but some people are just to ignorant to own them. Remember Virgina Tech.? I cant forget it. That guy had a mental illness but he still purchased guns. Ask the family members of the ones who died if the shooter should have had a constitutional right to bear arms even with his mental problems. If it whold have been your child who got brutally murdered, would your opinions be any different? I agree that some people should have a second chance to own firearms but some people should never be allowed to own them.

It is perfectly okay, Forklift, for you to spit on the Constitution. Free country, and all that.
Just stop pretending that you support the Second Amendment. You have not one clue about what it means.

My formal education level has no bearing on this discussion at all...since it is perfectly obvious that compared to you, I hold a Phd. in freedom.

I often make the comment that I don't fear the strident anti-gun voices of the Shumers/Fiendsteins/Kennedy/bushs NEARLY as much as I fear the gun owner that supports gun laws.

The 'fear' I speak of here is for the survival of the Constitution.

EVERY gun owner that supports gun laws weaken the Second Amendment. They make it 'ok' to infringe the Second by the goverment..after all...if a GUN OWNER says its ok...its GOTTA be all right !!

I really don't give a rats behind about the disarmed, gun-hating Socialist puke attempting to destroy the Second Amendment...AND the entire Constitution. They are whats called 'sheep'...sheep are easily controlled.
No..the gun owner that believes that somehow central government control of firearms is a GOOD thing..that there is real trouble.

You are not the one whom gets to decide who get to have a gun. If people are unstable, then they shouldn't be loose on society. However, who are you to say what freeman/woman get to arm themselves?
What because you own some gun, that makes you king? What will YOU say when they declare you incompetant because you have an OBSESSION with gun? Practically any shrink will call you nuts.

And further more, I pack regardless of the signs posted unless it is on federal property. On private property such as a college university or shopping mall, all they can do is ask you to leave if they see you packing anyway. If you refuse, you may be charged with trespassing. In Kentucky, that is what the law states anyway.
