    Illinois State Police is correct G22,
    missing from the list is Illinois Department of Natural Resources and Illinois Secretary of State Police both also carry the Glock 22

    In talking earlier about the Texas Ranger's guns,
    I was standing next to a Ranger in Austin,Texas
    about 6 years ago. He had 1911s cocked and locked on
    each hip. Quite a sight to see. Reminds me of a quote I heard where an old man asked a Ranger if carrying his 1911 cocked and locked was dangerous, the Ranger replied, "I wouldnt carry the SOB if it wasnt." Texas Ranger Joaquin Jackson carried a 1911 .45 Commander. I am sure a few still carry the old 357 Magnum. The local county sheriff
    here in TX carries a 8 3/8" S&W 25 in 45 Colt stuffed with
    Silvertips on his hip backed by a 30-30 and a 12guage.
    I know a few Rangers still carry a 30-30. From what I have read
    they also like the AR15 and the Mini 14.

    last time I checked, the Missouri State Highway Patrol was issuing the .40-caliber Glock. If sticking with the model set by other agencies, I would assume they offer a choice between the model 22 and 23.

    Also not included: the Texas Parks & Wildlife Dept (TPWD) who employess Texas' game wardens and park rangers, currently issue the .40-caliber Glock 22 as well. In addition to their sidearms, the wardens are also issued AR15-style rifles, though I am not sure of the make. It is possible to find some still carrying the older .223 Ruger Mini-14, but their sidearms will all be the same.

    according to GLOCK magazine 2007 edition...The SC highway patrol is looking at switching to the Glock 37 as well as PA. As of now, the NYSP has switched to carrying the Glock 37 as has Georgia.

    Maryland has switched to the Beretta Storm pistol .40S&W.

    I'm going to have to argue with that. I would believe 1975, but not 1965. That is a Smith & Wesson Model 66, and it was not produced until 1972 or 1973. The early ones, like mine which I bought in 1974, had plain white (not red ramp) stainless steel front sights, and plain white (not black with white outline) stainless steel rear sights.

    just looked at a picture of Kansas Highway Patrol- couldn't find Kansas State Police- and the KHP is definately carrying some type of Glock. It was a female officer so I'm not sure if it is indeed, the .45 as the list suggests, or another variant.

    Alabama---never looked at State Police or State Troopers, but Montgomery P.D. carry Glock 22 and Dets. carry Glock 23. M.P.D. just switched

    I confirm the change that Rack Ops says. They did go to the M&P .40. But they have the option to stay with the 10MM if it was issued to them before the change. All new state Kentucky State Police do not have the option they have to carry the M&P .40.

    Last Ranger I saw was carrying two 1911s cocked and locked.
    Most either carry 1911s or Sig 220, 226.

    If I get a chance, I will post a picture of one of these that I have! All of them are new and unfired, in their' original shipping boxes from the Colt Custom Shop.

    Those would never have been intended for duty use. Many agencies commission any type of commemorative at very good prices for their personnel. Having been in state law enforcement 30 yrs (retired) I have seen several of this type purchase. I bought two myself but never a Colt like this. Many officers used it to make a profit by selling the special editions. The NCHP had one made in 44 mag once I believe. It was never intended and would not have been allowed for duty use. If my dept.had ever done a Colt SAA I would have kept that one for sure.
    By the way, the NCDMV Enforcements present carry is the Sig P239 in .357 Sig.

    The Kentucky State Police stopped using the S&W 1076, 10mm in 2003 and after that they went to the Glock 35 .40 and not an M&P. The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife have a S&W M&P in .40 and switched about 2-3 years ago from a S&W 4566, .45acp. According to Glock the Kentucky State Police are the only major agency to have a Glock 35 as a standard issue sidearm for all its Troopers.

    What's a matter with Ruger? I've had a P944T .40 for about 5 years now and I have't had one issue ever. I even used to shoot it in IDPA and did pretty well.

    Should just issue them a bag of small shiney rocks. More reliable.

    I've seen more Glocks and Sigs with FTF problems than Rugers.

    Bring back the Model 10!!!

    Only reason they all went to hi cap autos is the majority of the kids going into that profession cannot shoot, are not trained properly and are not encouraged to practice. They cut their own throats by discouraging officers from being involved in the "gun culture" where the oldtimers who have been shooting as civilians can pass on their knowlege. What a shame, and I am sure this mentality is getting many killed. How many times do you see an article like this one from the June 11th 2008 Idaho Statesman.

    Boise police fired 20 shots at suspect
    Two Boise police officers fired at least 20 shots at a man who kicked out walls and ceilings of a North Boise condo complex while trying to evade them last Thursday, Boise police and the Ada County Critical Incident Task Force said Tuesday.

    The multi-agency task force, led in this case by Meridian police, is investigating the June 5 incident that sent Dorian Michael Willes, 30, to the hospital, where he remains. He was shot in the hand, shoulder and torso area by officers firing from about three feet away, Boise police Chief Michael Masterson said Tuesday.

    The incident started as part of an investigation into drug activity at Somerset Hills condos. As officers were arresting one man, they saw Willes speed away in an SUV then run into a nearby condo. A search ensued and a few hours later the Special Operations Unit was called to help.

    A police dog alerted officers to the basement of a condo. Police said they told Willes to come out, but he yelled that he had a gun. The two special unit officers - Norman Carter and Jason Bruner - went into the basement, where Willes was hiding on the floor underneath sheets of plywood, not wood as earlier reported.

    Willes forcefully pushed up the plywood sheets and lunged toward the officers with what looked like a gun, Masterson said. They later learned it was a soldering gun.

    Carter, a police officer for 11 years, and Bruner, a 10-year veteran, fired Heckler & Koch MP5s, light-weight submachine guns that have three settings - semi-automatic, three-round and fully-automatic, said Boise SOU commander Capt. Pete Ritter. The officers used the three-round burst setting with one officer firing three times and the other firing four, Ritter said.

    "That sounds like a lot of trigger pulls, but you're talking about milliseconds," Ritter said.

    Prior to June 5, a member of the unit had not fired on anyone since 1985, Ritter said. Both men are on administrative leave, which is standard procedure.

    Masterson defended his officers Tuesday, saying they were in imminent danger from Willes, who has a long criminal record, told officers he was armed, and refused to surrender.

    "This was a sudden, unprovoked assault on police officers," Masterson said.

    Willes is scheduled to be sentenced on unrelated federal firearms charges in September
