    12 Mossberg 500 20 gauge for small game and a mossberg 1 gauge 12 gauge slug gun for deer. Still have both and use the slug gun for hunting in Ohio. First gun I bought myself was on my 18th Birthday I bought a 20 gauge over under, and a Remington 700 30.06 that I use for deer.

    I had a step-father that wasn't all that fond of me. Strangely, he and my mom bought me a 12 ga bolt action shotgun for Christmas when I was only about in the 6th or 7th grade. They just gave me the gun, a few boxes of bird shot ammo and out the door me and my buddy went to another buddy's farm to figure out how to shoot that shotgun. Nobody ever got hurt or threatened with my shotgun and somehow I was very careful with it even without any adult training/supervision.

    When I got older and wiser I kinda wondered if my step-father half-hoped I would either shot myself or somebody else. Either way I would have been gone from his life.[;)]

    BB guns should count, especially if they hurt a three year old boy's big toenail when shot at close range, like from one inch. [:D] Had a .22 at nine from Mom, and Dad worked for about two weeks to buy me a Winchester 42 at 10.
