emailer asking new for more pics on a $10 item.
weirdest - emailer wanting me to take one 30 round mag to the grocery store and weigh it so he'll know if its a heavy well made mag or a cheap light one. serious. it was a EG AK mag snd I don't think they make them with lighter gage metal

Rosie....you are such a baby. With such a short fuse I'm supprised your head hasn't popped. I never complained about an actual confusing situation (such as a dutch auction....which I hardly EVER list because of how covoluted it gets.) But if I have ONE GUN listed for a frikkin PENNY and my shipping charges are right there for the world to see....$20.....why on earth should everything hang on whether or not I reciever or respond to the "friendly" e-mails. I'm a gun salesperson....one with three kids, a retail store, home business and NO....absolutely NO time for playing around. I don't want to make anyone fell all warm and fuzzy. I have every bit of confidance I will be fine because my prices are FAIR. I describe my sales accurately. I take tons of pictures....and I get the item to the buyer quickly. You can't beat that. You can hunt down the perfect seller in your eyes, but they won't be in business for very long if they seem to be any more understanding than the guys here are. The world seems to eat those guys. Those of us who get a little ticked off....actually have some time invested in these things and have grown tired of some things....but we're still here.
Nobody is complaining about a PARTICULAR person....just pointing out little things that annoy us. Like the idea that an e-mail is a paper-trail....not really. The fact that I have a registered user name with all of my information, credit card, FFL, personal info that is affiliated with my auctions.....AAAAAND......the buyer has all of his/her info registered with the site is more substantial than any message. Because I listed the item....the buyer bids and wins....that is enough and not any more powerful than an e-mail. I have too many actual LEGITAMATE questions to answer to have to sort out things at the end of a simple listing. I think of these rediculous sorts of questions as 10 minutes away from my kids....not helping an actual buyer recieve the item. Rosie's situation was different, but still glad such a fuss-but won't be looking at my penny auctions with no reserve!!!! If this little post got you that upset I'm afraid to do business....0 -
I always ask for the total price and if their shipping information is correct. Call that annoying if you want. I call it making sure we're on the same page and that our ducks are in a row.
I don't understand the mentality of a person bothering you when they are trying to give you their money. Customer serivce is expected from me if I'm giving my money.
As a customer I honestly don't give a damn how busy your life is. I guess I'm the odd ball since I expect a seller to be decent and a little customer service. If you're selling something you should expect to deal with people and not just collect their money. [V]0 -
This has nothing at all about being decent. I don't mind a phone call....my number is right there if you want to call me and be certain I am a legitamate seller. I sometimes have 100 e-mails a day (at least half of them are junk) I can't set things up to scan for these crappy e-mails because it JUST MIGHT throw away my buyer's messages. It ticks me off to no end to have rediculous mess mixed up with my ACTUAL questions. I just might lose a sale because I didn't get the message in all of the deleting crapola. In the middle of all of the REAL questions to have someone think we have "bonded" over something so simple as an e-mail is crazy....and a waist of time for both parties. If you want to get to know your seller before you buy.....call them. An e-mail is no way to ease your mind before sending a check. I could portray myself as anyone using a computer.....just look at some of these posts. Phone calls are the way only way to get the results wanted by asking "how much and to who"....because if you actually don't know your total and to who you don't need to be buying on line. If you are trying to assure yourself that you aren't sending your money to a Pakistan internet sales ring.....call the seller and have a few words!!!! 0 -
The people on here that can't spell, and are so uptight with over inflated egos are just laughable, although, I suppose some of these sellers resemble true hillbillys that don't shop in those fancy stores.
Sellers to maybe avoid, if they come off looking like ... well ...

I've gotten my share of "dumb" questions also. I'm alway happy to answer questions through. I even don't mind the tire kickers. It's all in the name of doing business.
I sold a Jeep not too long ago and was still getting calls long after it was gone. 1 woman ask me if I sold it and I told her yes. She then ask me if the sale fell though, if I would hold it for her. I told her it had been gone over a week and the money/title exchanged was already done. She call me a few days later and ask me if it was still sold. I told her yes, but call her a couple days later, after I found a couple Jeeps that were close to what I had. I email her those ads.
I had a Camaro a couple wanted to see, but wasn't sure it they wanted it. They ask me if I would bring it to them and let them see it. They were a 6 hours away. I agree, but they had to paid for fuel regardless of purchase or not. They gave me fuel money but didn't buy it. I was polite and they were a very nice couple. But never again, almost 14 hours on the road for fuel. I sold the car couple days later.0 -

Thats it Locust, keep on calling buyers names. Should really help your sales. If you don't want to take ten minutes away from your kids then stay home with them and be a mother. If a potential buyer is too lazy to read important items like "quantity", or if they solicit me to break the laws regarding interstate transfer, or if they offer me some podunk dipwad gunshow price on some POS WASR and expect me to sell one of my well made guns for the same price, then they are UNWORTHY of my products.
Plain and Simple. If that puts sand in Rosie's vag, so be it.

I will say also that for every Rosie type customer there are 99 more
straight forward customers that come in and do not have an axe to grind.

But since you can get on the computer, find gunbroker, and search for an item, I expect you to know how to read and not ask me something I clearly stated in the auction. If you are too stupid to read, then I don't want to get into a transaction with you. Who knows, you may sned my money to the wrong place when you are trying to read the address and put it on the envelope.0 -

Funny as heck you made a typo in your rant. Oh no, you'll ship my item to the wrong address. ""flyingtorpedo"" isn't even a registered seller on gunbroker ... no wonder some of these people talk a little ... brash.
Gunbroker should link sellers posts to their auctions, and viceaversa, then maybe there would be some integrity on both fronts.
I overlooked someones shipping rate they listed on the auction, asked them how much it was and was told 'it says it in the auction, but it's $6'. I replied 'oops, sorry .. and thanks!'.

Ohh man. You sure as hell wouldnt like a buyer like me. I ALWAYS request that information before sending payment. For all I know, the contact information is old, and was never updated. If I am sending money to someone, I want to confirm who I am sending payment/ ffl to, and I want his address confirmed.
I am going to send some guy on the internet some money, who I dont even know, without confirming who and where he is? Fuggedaboudid.
Matter of fact, I usually email sellers BEFORE I bid-I really want to know that I am dealing with an actual person, and not some listing that has been there for 3 years, and for all I know, the person who listed the auction died 3 years ago.
Most sellers that I have dealt with do not have a problem with this, or at least realize that they have a potential buyer on their hands, and there really is no point in not giving him the simple info he has requested.
I asked one seller for the serial number, OR PARTIAL SERIAL NUMBER of a gun he was selling. Smart ass told me to buy the gun, and then I could read the serial number myself. Sent him an email, politely telling him his smart ass remark cost him a sale. He then lectured me that there was no reason for me to have the serial number prior to purchase. I explained to him, that a lot can be known about a gun by its serial number, that certain models of guns had certain features depending on when they were made, and the serial number would supply that info. I then explained to him that the gun he listed, and the description he gave did not match up, because it had certain features that did not make sense for that time period. (I have to tell someone who sells firearms this??)
He finally sent me the serial number, huffing and puffing- I told him to take the gun and serial number and shove it up his azz.0 -
Salzo...you are right. I would LOVE a buyer like you. I don't mind questions. I have no earthly idea how anyone could find any sale of mine that was over 7 days old...much less 3 years old.
I answer any and all questions I get....even the rediculous ones. The fact that I sell my items for a penny with no reserve....post detailed pics of every sale....send a detailed e-mail at the end of the sale with step by step instructions with EVERY phone number and address anyone could ever need to contact me....means that a lot of the problems that COULD occur don't.
Salzo...your post tells me that you haven't read the entire thread. Your post tells me that you are trying to get the "warm and fuzzy" bonding feeling through e-mails....and I have posted my thoughts on this whole idea. Internet sales are NOT like any other type sales. If I were a buyer I would do my homework...but an e-mail with pointless questions is no way to set your mind at ease when it comes to buying from a salesperson.0 -

When working at the Gun Shop, and asked the question how much a gun had been shot, I always answered it was owned by a little old who only drove it to church on Sundays. 0 -

Locustfork- You are right, I did not read the entire thread.
As far as the three year listings- I was refering to those listings that keep regenerating over and over again. I dont know if there is some "automatic relisting" feature for sellers-but when I see that, I just think there might be some issues, and I just want to be certain. I see the same savage rifle come up from the same seller, and it has been doing so for a long time- for all I know, that gun was already sold, and he just "fprgot" to pull it off the auction.
And when I email a seller prior to sale, it isnt to ask him a dumb question to get all warm and fuzzy- I have had legitimate questions about every gun I have bought on line. I do not buy many guns, when I do, I want to make sure I am getting what I am seeing.
I checked out the link to your auctions-I was actually checking out the ithaca 16 guage this morning before I saw your link.
Can you tell me if it works? Is it a 16 guage, and is it an Ithaca?[:)]0
