seller peeves? weirdest thing you've been asked
mine;
emailer asking new for more pics on a $10 item.
weirdest - emailer wanting me to take one 30 round mag to the grocery store and weigh it so he'll know if its a heavy well made mag or a cheap light one. serious. it was a EG AK mag snd I don't think they make them with lighter gage metal

I would like to see a small insertion fee area. I'm talking about 10 cents to list something. That would eliminate the same auctions that have been on this site for a year with zero chance of ever selling. I see one seller that has 600 plus items for sale and hasn't had a feedback posted in a month. If he had to pay a dime for every listing that kind of stuff would end and this site would be a much better place for everyone, sellers and buyers. I'm interested in selling stuff at a reasonable price and I am tired of looking through all of the overpriced stuff to find what I need or am willing to pay.0 -
How about sellers who put what there item isn't (i.e. AK47 no AR FAL). If I wanted to look for what you are selling I would have searched for it, since I didn't I don't want to see your auction, sorry. Between this and the starting prices that are 150% of fair market value it takes forever to find what your looking for. I agree that they should do away with the free re listing. A couple of times I have seen an item that I would be interested in if the starting price wasn't too high, so I watch it for a month or so and it will be re listed a half a dozen times without any change. 0 -

How about a sliding scale. The first five listings of an item are free if it does not sell. After that you have you pay an insertion fee that keeps going up for relisting the same item.0 -
i don't sell gun stuff online (mostly because i keep everything i buy). but i sell a lot of computer parts on craigslist. i get a lot of questions like is this ddr or ddr2 ram when the answer is in both the title and the description. i now include the link to the manufacturer website and the "friendly" disclaimer to please not bother me with any dumb questions. if you need to know if your motherboard is compatible with the ram/videocard/processor i'm selling, then you probably shouldn't be trying to upgrade all by yourself. 0 -

Don't you think Smells that you would have a much larger customer base of repeat customers if you helped them out a little? Most of us don't know crap about computers and need a little help to do some of these things. Saves us money and makes more for you. A win win situation. 0 -
Well, I have been asked questions like "What caliber is your 38 Special revolver?" OTOH, momentary brain freeze is not limited to buyers or sellers. Daughter's store was robbed- responding LEO filling out report, asked "What is your name?" Daughter looked at him, and tapped the NAMETAG pinned to her shirt w/ first and last name on it. I'm a seller and a buyer, both on GB and eBay .
If someone asks me a question that is already on the auction, I take it as they are testing me and my response time is all. I do that as a buyer as well, but try to come up with an original question.
I asked a few sellers on here a few days ago some simple questions about some magazines. Out of 4 emails sent, 1 came back in minutes, 1 came back later in the day, 1 came back the next day, and the fourth still has not answered. That says a lot about how serious this seller takes his sales. As a buyer, I'd go with the first guy that responded in minutes, even if a bit more spendy. That is someone that is willing to please, and will ship the product out promptly.
You guys that are selling things and are irritated by buyers, that is just amazing ... you're in the wrong business and have too much ego for being a salesman.
If someone contacts me about my items, I go out of my way taking extra pictures (and add them to the auction, so it enhances the entire buyers pool), answering stupid questions, and taking care of whatever their concern is, I'd never demean them.
You guys that have more rules than description, I'm amazed you ever sell anything. No this, No that, don't do this, blah blah blah. I'm not looking at your auction to hear you preach, or tell me how much you hate paypal.
The only thing that makes me upset about buyers is this; the ones that do not pay ... they bid when they were drunk, or realized after the fact they didn't have the funds ,,, that's the only thing about buyers that ticks me off.
I have sent stupid emails to sellers just to test them. If they come back with a wise crack, f 'em, delete that auction from my bookmarks and move on.

I take lots of pictures. I write a good description. If I get a legitimate question about my merchandise, I figure I didn't do something right.
The questions that I think are funny are the ones that the prospective bidder would not have asked if he had only looked at the pictures and read the description.0 -
there are good points on both sides here, sort of.
the main reason i am writing is due to the arguement that should be posted on another thread. the thousands of auctions on here that dont sell. mostly dealers trying to get full retail or over on new guns that clog everything up. they sit and list every gun ever made because its free and if something sells, oh thats nice i made a sale. i like the idea of a listing fee.
i am a dealer(a real one with a full time store) and i only list used guns on here, new ones do not sell. i would wager even with a very minimal markup(10-15 dollars), shipping, ffl transfer fee, that anyone could go to their local gunstore and buy it for the same or less.
also like someone else said i hate when i look for something on here and i get titles that look like this.
"heritage 45 nib not colt ruger"

Can't say i totally agree with that...in my case.
For instance: i sell custom knives, from various auction sites, our website
and locally.
Although i do manage to sell a few through here, it's
just a fraction of some of our other venues.
And while we try to keep whatever may sell on here in stock at all
times, it sometimes don't work out and the buyer may have to wait
a week or two. But as long as that is known up front i don't see
anything wrong with that.0 -

Locust, I'm sorry I asked for the total on such a small amount but it was a dutch auction and I don't understand them. Won't happen again on ANY of your auctions and thats a promise.
If this thread comes up missing I have a list of the buyer bashers and can be emailed for same. Shouldn't be too hard finding their seller names if different from here. I just thought of something! I could become a seller and become smart too!! On second thought I don't think I will because I would have too much respect for the person feeding my family. [:)]0 -

I have been putting computers together for some time now to give to kids whose parents can't afford them. They are not the best computers in the world but to an 8 year old they are fantastic. I know nothing about computers and rely on the generosity of others for hard and software and knowledge. I take the best of several computers and make one. Some time I have to buy a thing or two to make one work, such as a memory stick. The extent of my knowledge is if it fits then try it. It is obvious you would NOT be a source for parts OR knowledge for me.0 -

This thread is very interesting. It's substantially a blacklist of sellers. Gives the buyer an opportunity as to who to do business with, and who to avoid.

By the way, I just got off the phone with a feller who doesn't bid on auctions because it's a waste of his time. He wanted me to end an auction that had a bidder, and sell him a gun out from under the legitimate bidder, off the auction. Guess how polite I was?0 -

Its not so much that your laughing at the ignorance of another, I can sorta see how its funny for an enlightened person to laugh at someone trying to gain some knowledge. Just ignore these potential customers and all the others that may read but don't post, heck invite some other like minded sellers into the conversation.

I sell a lot of Ka-Bars on ebay (over 1700 so far). All of my auctions plainly state in bold print in THREE DIFFERENT PLACES that I ONLY ship to US addresses. Still, I get several e-mails per week from some nitwit asking "How much is shipping to Spain, England, Australia, etc.?" I got one yesterday asking if I ship to Canada - I told him I would only if he can prove that Canada is our 51st state. 0 -

Not all questions come from firearm enthusiasts. I'm sure law enforcement, criminals, news reporters and gun control trolls may get in a few questions. The weirdest thing asked on the auctions is: Do you ship (he was asking about Chinese AK parts) to China? 0
