just wondering, truthfully now reply again

who here has a conscience, one that when you do right you feel good , and when you do wrong it bothers you until you correct it[?]

    I definately do, and it seems at times it cost me, because those who don't will take advantage of you. I truly do try to treat people, like I would want to be treated.

    I admit I do and it can sometimes be a weakness that some would take advantage of. Ive never done anything bad that stayed with me, but Ive had my share of regrets.

    I guess not. I do what I believe is right because it is right, not because it feels good or virtuous, I do other things for that. I avoid doing wrong because it is too much hassle, and because it is not right.

    now to answer my own, i have always followed my heart and listened to that inner voice,both for guidance and for that extra edge in psysical strength when needed. now the problem. a family member that has chosen to run for a public office, wants help in getting elected, he needs a job, has degrees in business and finance, and is a good people person. my word is good to all i know, he knows this, and it would bring him many votes. the problem is i have seen his colors many times, a self serving person that can be swayed for self gain. i cannot in good judgement support him. how would you handle this without family problems arising.[V]

    Dang tough one there. You are going to have to tell him - if you can.
    Not much help - huh. I don't see how you can keep the family out of it but you have to do what you feel is right.

    I have one and it is so finely developed at this stage in my life that I rarely do anything that I feel sorry for.

    Avoidance and all that stuff, you know.[;)]

    I would just say that I was going to stay out of it,........BECAUSE he is a relative.
    No need to even go into the real reason why.
    Use the old arguement about not going into business with family, etc., and you want to avoid any "issues" that could potentially cause a family rift.

    I'd get face-to-face with him and tell him the truth.

    I would also tell him that I won't make any noise about my lack of support to the family if he does not.

    If someone asks you about it, just tell them to check with him.

    Unless you really detest him and think that the public or family should be informed.

    I have a conscience.

    Are you saying that he is unemployed and is running for public office in order to get a job? I think you've answered your own question.

    The qualifier at the end of your question changes it from a problem to a dilemma (a problem for which there is no solution).

    I know what I would do, and you know what you should do, but you don't have to live with my consequence and vice versa, so I won't tell you what to do.

    Some advice given to me in the past was "Just do whatever you think is right".

    I would have to tell him - just to be honest with myself! Easy to say - I'm on the other side of the computer. I've had to tell a Brother-in-law to take a hike and stay out of my life - but he was much worse than what your describing..
