florida shooting/ handicap parking/ stand your gro
Early this week in Florida a man was fatally shot about handicap parking dispute. Sheriff says "stand your ground" applies.

I happen to agree with you...shocker...my first question was "I wonder if he'd have confronted the woman if he weren't armed?" And that was before I read that he's done this kind of thing before. I am going to avoid confrontation off duty unless I absolutely have to intervene.0 -
Just watched the video a couple more times. Guy should be charged with murder. That's just ridiculous. He got shoved down for being an idiot. His life was not in danger. Guy was walking away when he got shot. If im on the jury. The guy is going to jail 0 -

I keep seeing folks call Drejka an old man like he's some kind of defenseless invalid...he's 47 years old...I'm 46 so he's not an old man.

There is a BIG difference between walking up to a man and asking what the problem is and why are you chatting with my wife and walking up and blindsiding with a violent shove to the ground.
I have watched the video many times. At first though the delay in the shot was not justified but in reality the shooter was in an unnatural shooting position, on his ass and PROPERLY aligned the sights before shooting.
Try that shot yourself, I did in my back yard range. It is good exercise for you to see how FAST you can draw, align the sights on a short barreled pistol and fire an accurate shot. See if you can react faster while laying on your ass on the pavement or yard.
What it boils down to is the shooter knows in his heart why he shot; only he and God know for sure.
The age of the shooter was important, he was not a 25 year old. The Dead Guy had an extensive record for attacking folks. The video is below it starts with the blind side at about 2:40 into it. The attacker was not seen until he was 1/2 step away and already raising his hands to shove the guy. Note, he kept the target in his sights leading me to think he was in fear.

We can not hear the verbal exchange, how nasty on either side it was. We can see the violence of the ambush shove. The striped space NEXT to the HCP spot is most important, it lets wheel chairs get out and have access to the ramp to enter the store.
We will never know what was in the heart of the shooter, he and God know the truth The LEO reports and jail records of the dead guy I saw showed a propensity to attack people, often. Those records no longer show up on GOOGLE they have been scrubbed out, I can not find them any more.0 -

I see from the way he is carrying himself, he is disabled. His knees are arched and his back is bent. When he got knocked down, he didn't look like he was going to be getting back up in a hurry.

Exactly. Not only that, she was getting out of the car to attack him too.
And yes, he kept the gun focused to repel any further attacks. If he had taken a second shot, well, that would be suspect. He hit the guy, no bystanders, hit the perp, the one who deserved it. Other criminal got back in her car. Good shoot0 -
I am 67 and that guy looked older than I am! He is stooped over at the shoulders and walks and looks like some 77 year old guy. He must have some kind of disability or bad injury.

The black guy gave a violent assault against the old-looking white guy, he could have seriously injured the man. Typical thug behaviour from a Djibouti.
Still, the white guy bears a great deal of blame, he was not directly involved in people illegally parking in handicapped, he should have just called the cops and let them handle it. And the cops would have not even responded, or, if they did, the car would have been gone by the time they got there.0 -
I don't understand the excuses of support of the thugs.
3 or more serious violations on their part, starting with the entitled attitude of "I'm special, I don't need to honor the law" by parking in the handicap spot.
Then when confronted, did not move but got out to assault the man.
Then thug assaults man.
Then many delivers instant justice, the very thing we conceal carry for.
Think of this. Same guy smashes the door of your home down, are you going to wait and call the cops or plant him?
It don't matter that white guy was not on his property, that is what stand your ground laws are for, so you don't have to be intimidated and abused by the thugs.0 -

Well if he is disabled then all the more reason he shouldn't be confronting strangers. If he had not initiated this confrontation, had been some innocent victim walking into the store and randomly attacked then there would likely be alot less debate. Like the Zimmerman case, both seemed to put themselves in this position which muddies their self defense claim. That and the perceived delay between the assault, the apparent lack of follow up attack and the actual shooting.0 -

It seems to me this was a perfect storm event. You had a parking lot commando busybody looking to stir up something. The guy had apparently made a habit out of hassling people for parking issues at this store. And rather than politely point out to the woman that she was parked in a handicap spot and move on, he apparently harangued her for a minute and a half. A nosy busybody who wants to feel important, and who might have been invigorated by the handgun weighing down his pocket.
You had a woman who parked in a handicapped spot and then apparently didn't want to move. I have no idea what was being said on either end of the conversation between her and Mr. Busybody, but I doubt it was friendly chit-chat.
Then you have a young hothead who had previous trouble with the law for violent crimes. I don't know if it was his girlfriend or the guy who entered the store later who informed him that something was going on in the parking lot, but it sure looked like Mr. Hothead came out of the store on a mission. But before we get to the shove...
The woman in the vehicle didn't get out of the vehicle until she saw her Baby Daddy come storming down the sidewalk. Perhaps she wanted to get a better view of the ass-whooping that was about to commence, or the presence of muscle backup emboldened her to give the white guy a piece of her mind. In any event, her stepping out of the car no doubt riled up Mr. Hothead even more, so...
He walked up and violently shoved Mr. Busybody without warning or provocation. The shove was uncalled for. Anybody who says they would do the same is looking to get arrested, sued, put in the hospital or - as in this case - shot dead.
We have three people doing stupid, uncalled for things. Despite the fact that none of this should have resulted in someone getting killed, I don't feel all that bad for Mr. Hothead getting a one-way ticket to a dirt nap. And I don't feel all that bad if Mr. Busybody has to defend himself in a criminal trial or civil lawsuit. I don't feel bad for Ms. Park Wherever I Damn Well Please, who will probably find another patsy to help raise her kids. The kids in the car? I do feel bad for them.0 -

Back in the day the cops used to prowl around looking for class c misdemeanors violations here in the Big City but now you can practically commit them without fear now while driving.
Calling a cop now days for a misdemeanor violation will take 30 minutes if your lucky and over 3 hours if your not. So people just do what they know that they can get away with,in this case The Guy got caught and a citizen got in their face about it.
The guy should of never touch the guy complaining and left after shopping and he would be alive now. End of Story but obey the laws willingly and avoid giving someone the reason to combat with you is the lesson here.

This is a lesser infraction, but an infraction none the less. The man has a duty to educate the lowlifes, and that lowlife got educated.

You and wpage are pretty dense. Did the gun come out over a parking space or was there a physical assault taking place in the interim? The thug life was lost because he was stupid and attacked an armed man.0
