florida shooting/ handicap parking/ stand your gro
Early this week in Florida a man was fatally shot about handicap parking dispute. Sheriff says "stand your ground" applies.

I have observed with some elderly folks handicap spaces become a sense of entitlement. I've ridden with older relatives and friends that will park in "their" spot even if there is a regular spot that happens to be closer. So I can see how a situation could arise that is not much different then road rage. It's that misguided reaction of anger that someone is taking some thing from you, whether it's cutting you off in "your lane" or parking in "your" parking space.
In the latest Sheriff's presser if came out that approximately a week prior Drekja may have confronted a black truck driver at the same convenience store and used a racial slur. If that is true, that is likely not to help his position in the investigation.0 -

amazing how many sheep are bleating here ???? you either defend yourself or suffer the blows....especially from a declared "special" type people....i have seen numerous types on the small town walfarts near here zip up and parallel park in the handicap slots and RUN inside ????????????....and if i was slammed down like that i might have been cross eyed and hurting, trying to stop more attack....not have a philosophical discussion about life ...........baaaaaahhhhhhh 0 -

Agree 100%, although I keep the odds of something like this happening to me as low as possible.
Call me racist if you will, but I avoid at ALL costs, frequenting stores/events/neighborhoods that 'these' types of beings frequent. Yes, I mean low-life, thug type blacks.
I have also learned to keep my big mouth in check, and only use it when there is truly a reason. I don't go through life looking for trouble in general. That also hugely reduces your odds of being attacked like this.
With that being said, if one day I suddenly find myself being blindsided by anyone in an unprovoked attack,.....I most assuredly would shoot them if at all possible.
It's not like the old days anymore, where I can pick myself up and go on with life as if nothing happened. With my severe back/neck issues, being shoved hard onto concrete may very well paralyze me, or worse. I don't like this reality, but I know that's the way it is for me going forward, and I'm not really ready to leave this earth that way.
If nothing else, I know that should I ever have to take another life, it will be for a legitimate reason, with no questions as to whether I did right, or wrong in my heart.
Of course my real desire is to never have any such thing happen in the first place.0 -

bpost is right. Once you have laid your hands on somebody that changes everything. Once you put your hands on anybody you have a pretty fair chance of making it home alive and in one piece, but you shouldn?t expect that to happen. The older, weaker or crippled the person you put your hands on appears to be the less likely you are that will happen. Some old or crippled people just don?t care what will happen to them. In fact having other people do their cooking and cleaning, pay their bills and medical care doesn?t sound like such a bad deal. Bear in mind if you value your life you shouldn?t risk it for something that isn?t worth your life. You might be surprised how many people don?t value theirs. 0 -

Here is what is at stake or what will result.
SYG will become weakened and you will have to prove unreasonably that you had no other choice meaning many people will be emboldened to attack older, weaker people and or women.
You will hesitate and allow yourself to be put in far greater danger.
Or:
SYG is made to insure bullies check their behavior knowing full well it is open season on those who assault the weaker, the older, women and children because the law says when they get violent you lose "all" rights under the law

Too many'what ifs'not being in that situation. None of us were there so one can't be definitive on what they would or wouldn't do. I personally would like
to believe that the aggressor wouldn't have been able to get that close to blind side me. Situational awareness is very important.

I can't answer either, because first,........ I wouldn't have been at that kind of a store in the first place, nor would I have been talking smack with what is most likely a welfare queen over parking in a handicapped spot while her thug life 'baby daddy' is shopping with a SNAP card.0 -

If an attorney tried to ask that question in court the opposing attorney would object and the judge would sustain as it is conjecture
I can not answer that for many reasons.
1: I would never park in a handicap spot
2: I would never hassle someone who did park in a handicap spot.
3: I would not assault someone who was arguing with a friend who did something I disagree with.
So how can I answer to something I would never have to answer to?
Now, if you ask me would I use deadly force if I thought my life was in danger then yes as I am sure most here would answer.
This man felt his life was in danger and I can see why so while unfortunate this is IMO a legitimate case where SYG applies.
For those who disagree well I suggest you don't assault someone to see what and how SYG applies and you will live a long life0 -
I watched the video one more time, and something I didn?t notice the first few times is it appears to be a two on one situation. At 1:11 on the video another man arrives, gets out of his car and glances to his right as he walks to the door. He stops at the door and watches Mister Drejka for several seconds and goes into the store. At 1:38 Mister McGlockton comes out of the store with the new guy on his heels and goes directly to Mister Drejka breaking into a trot for the last couple of steps and shoves Mister Drejka into the concrete. Meanwhile the new guy is walking toward Mister Drejka. When the gun came out the new guy changed the direction of his travel. 0 -
