We call it Pop....most of my Missouri buddies call them a coke or a Sodie

Here in SEMO when I was growing up, they were called sodies by my folks. Went off to university and into the world. First stop was Arkansas. Someone asked for a Coke so I got them one. Someone actually wanted a Dr. Pepper. Thus began my journey of enlightenment.
Arkansas folks also wore toboggans on their heads. I tried to picture a sled on the head but couldn't understand why one would do this.
Skip on down the road a few years, many states and foreign countries, I now call them sodas and ask what flavor one might enjoy

as a kid pop was 99% of what knew any soft drink as ( all southerner family and neighbors ) ..rare occasions when I was a kid a real treat was a RC cola and moon pie 😁
for a long time seems most just ask what do you want to drink by brand name . mt dew , pepsi , coke or so on .

Only 2 varieties here in my house--Diet Mt Dew or diet Coke so that's what one asks for. For general use, carbonated beverages are most often called "POP".

As a very young kid, "you want a coke? what flavor? then as I got older soda pop or just a soda, somethings we said what kind of soda water do you want? primarily now it is more by brand name and for me my current soda water is Keystone light!
