Prayers For Mom -
Woke up to a text and phone msg this AM. My Brother and his Wife were at my Mom's house visiting this past week. (from NM) Last night my Mom (94) reached for something and fell, breaking her hip (again.) Surgery this AM.
The last time this happened, a couple years ago, it was a major ordeal and took a 6mo stay in a Re-Hab facility, (after the Surgery) that we could not visit, due to Covid. My Mom was in much better physical condition, but that one started a major decline for her.
This will not be good.

Back @ the Hospital for another all day shift. My Sister coming in this evening. My apologies for all the excessive posting to threads over the last couple days and probably today. Just me sitting here with my Tablet all day on GB. (Bored out of my mind.) Keeping the TV off, so she can sleep/rest, as much as possible.
Mom seems way more alert and aware today. She was out of it yesterday.
Again, Thank You All for the good thoughts and Prayers. Much appreciated.๐
Do not ever apologize for doing what you have to do to be with and comfort your momma.. Sitting with someone all day at the hospital is soooo draining.

Our prayers continue for your Mom and your son's upcoming surgery.
Hang in there.

Thank You All. ๐
My Mom is trying to convince me to go home. "No need for you to sit here all day while I sleep."
My Sister, coming in this evening, would have my Hide. Nope, not going home.
They just got her out of the bed for the 1st time, to a bedside chair, to try and eat. ๐

You tell your mom that it's not just you sittin' there, she's got all of us too!
Sounds like she's doing pretty good, Ken. Prayers will continue.

I was afraid of this. (Didn't want to say it.) My Sister just communicated to me that "I should come either tomorrow or the next day, if you want to see Her again."
"Mom had a rough overnight. It looks like the end." (I thought so too, but did not want to say anything.) Mom looked like she had aged 20 years, since before this happened. She just does not have the strength for this, any longer.
Like I just told my Sister (both of us crying) "This is for the best. She can be with Dad."
Prayers appreciated.

Sorry, tough to respond. (Been crying, still am.)
I've been making some tough calls, to her younger (but still elderly) Sisters, to get there, if they can. (All somewhat close by.) They deserve the same "Heads Up," chance to talk to her, that my Sister is giving me and I have had, over the last few days.
Thank you all. Your comments and support, have been a literal Godsend.
So VERY much appreciated.
*This outcome, is not a surprise. I saw/have seen, how weak she looked, from when I 1st saw her. (Personally, I would not want to go through that.) [And] Have told my Son, make sure, NOT to let me go through that.
In fact I just told him, I want to go out Skydiving, (or similar) "Oh crap, my chute is not opening." (Or) Hat's off to Ray and Willie, "Please God, take me - when my dog "Buddy," goes." (I can not imagine being without him.)
He has been extra loving, (if that is even possible) over the last several days. He knows something is up. He has been a Godsend. (As I say thankfully, in my Prayers.)
*I tend to share more, talk about myself more here, than anywhere. I tend to be very closed mouthed, in general.

Sorry to hear about your mom's hip Ken. It's tough for sure.
My 93 year old mom passed away last month on August the 4th. It was extra hard on me because I couldn't attend her funeral service due to my health problems. I was able to see the service and listen to the proceedings by the way of my sister's phone.
The only good thing is she died in her sleep. My Mom was healthy all of her life except for the last 2 months.

Ken, your mom has a place waiting for her where there is no pain or worry. There is no hurry to get there, it's reserved just for her.

What Jim said. Prayers for you and your sister, and your mom. I have been in that spot and it hurts.

Thank You All.
My Sister, myself and one of Mom's friends/neighbor's are all in the room with her now. She was transferred from CCU to Intensive Care overnight. We finally got a room at a re-hab facility near my Sister in Raleigh. (once we figured out the Insurance issue/debacle) We were just now told by a Nurse that the transfer to that facility will take place at 2 this afternoon.
She had a better night overnight and got more sleep than the night before. So a little better today, but still very weak.
We appreciate you all, your good wishes and Prayers have meant the World to us.

*The transfer to the re-hab facility has now been changed to Monday, in order for Her to stabilize a little and gain some syrength. (4 hour Ambulance transfer.)

I know what you are going through Ken. I went through the same thing with all 4 of my parents (2 normal and 2 steps) It's rough in the beginning but gets easier as you realize that it's something all of us have to endure. You will always have the memories of her to give you solace.
Best wishes, Joe

Mericles still happen Ken.

I agree Ed, but realistically it is time for her to go and be with Dad. Her quality of life got much more difficult/worse last time, about 3 years ago. Now She is older, weaker and more fragile. Personally, I would want to go and not have my quality of Life degraded to such a point it is no longer enjoyable. My Sister and I are both in agreement. We unfortunately forsee a slow steady decline for her, from this point forward. She now has Parkinson's to deal with as well. Tremors, Hallucinations, Paranoia, difficulty with mobility/balance. It's time.

Ken........so sorry for your mom and family.
Some years ago.......my wife and I had to endure a similar situation with my grandmother.
Although physically uninjured........time, strokes, and dementia took their toll in her later years.
She past at 100 years young........on Easter morning......with her great-granddaughter sitting with her.......as she would have wanted. It was her time.
Our prayers for you and your family. ๐

Ken, hang in there and love your Mom for as long as you can. Went thru that with my Mom/Dad like you. It was very difficult because of distance between Monroe, NY and Kents Store, Va. I had a Angel for a sister like you for the really hard times.
My daughter Heather and I vowed never to let my sweetheart Diane go in a nursing home and she never did. It was six years and the last two were hell on earth, almost 24/7. I am not complaining. Smitty has been there and done that. My son flew in from Charlotte at 5PM and Diane knew it was him. At midnight that night my Diane went to Heaven holding her children's hands in each of her hands. She was in her bed in her house. What more could anyone ask for?
Willie joined Diane in Heaven a couple months ago and I never expected it. Willie always gave Diane lots of kisses but only gave me one at a time. When Diane passed he gave me lots of kisses. Dogs just know what to do. Willie was special and there will never be another like him. No matter what happens cling to your Buddy because I know he is special to you.
No man knows the time Ken but we here on the Forum and God have your back. -----------------------Ray
