Sellers
As a seller, you are responsible for complying with all applicable tax laws. These laws include any local laws for your home state as well as “internet sales tax” laws.
If you sell to buyers in the US, some states may require the collection of Internet Sales Tax on your transactions. Many jurisdictions require the collection of some type of Internet Sales Tax.
All states that collect sales tax now require GunBroker to remit tax based on Marketplace Facilitator regulations. These regulations shift the remittance of tax from the seller to GunBroker. While the seller still needs to collect the tax from the buyer, these regulations require GunBroker to remit that tax to each state. For more details, please see Marketplace Facilitator Sales Tax Collection.
For states not requiring marketplace facilitator collection, you - the seller - may still be required to collect sales tax.
Requirements for collecting sales tax vary greatly and change rapidly. For more information, please check the following links:
Please make sure you are aware of the regulations and restrictions for your specific location. All states have specific requirements for applying sales tax which must be followed. Sales tax is only applied if the buyer is shipping to a state that requires sales tax remittance.
