Web Browser Cache and Cookies

Clearing internet files, cache, and cookies:

We recommend you clear your temporary Internet files and cookies if pages on our website are not updating properly, or you are experiencing one of the following issues:

  • The Login page is not accepting your Username and/or Password
  • A web page indicates that it is "Expired"
  • You click Back on your browser, and the information on the form has been erased

Once you clear your cookies and cache following the browser-specific instructions listed below, do the following:

  1. Close all windows
  2. Exit/Quit the browsers
  3. Reopen the browser

Note: If the instructions below do not exactly match what you see, you may need to update your web browser to the latest version.

Mobile browsers

Android

The steps to clear your cache, cookies, and history may differ depending on the model of your Android device and your preferred browser, but you should be able to clear your cache and data from your application management settings menu:

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Choose Apps or Application Manager
  3. Swipe to the All tab
  4. In the list of installed apps, find and tap your web browser
  5. Choose Storage
  6. Tap "Clear Cache"
  7. Exit/quit all browser windows and re-open the browser

Chrome for Android

  1. Tap Chrome menu > Settings
  2. Tap (Advanced) Privacy
  3. Tap Clear browsing data
  4. From the "Time Range" drop-down menu, select All Time
  5. Check "Cookies and site data" and "Cached images and files"
  6. Tap "Clear data"
  7. Exit/quit all browser windows and re-open the browser

Safari for iOS

  1. Open your Settings app
  2. Tap Safari
  3. Tap "Clear History" and "Website Data" and "Confirm"
  4. Exit/quit all browser windows and re-open the browser

Chrome for iOS

  1. Tap Chrome menu > Settings
  2. Tap Privacy
  3. Tap Clear Browsing Data
  4. Choose the data type you want to clear
  5. Tap Clear Browsing Data
  6. Exit/quit all browser windows and re-open the browser

Desktop browsers

Internet Explorer 11

Note:
On January 12, 2016, Microsoft ended support for Internet Explorer versions prior to version 11 . UITS strongly recommends you upgrade to a new operating system if your current system does not support Internet Explorer 11. If you experience difficulty with Internet Explorer, please make sure the compatibility mode is turned off.

  1. Select Tools > Safety > Delete browsing history....

    If the menu bar is hidden, press Alt to make it visible

  2. Deselect Preserve Favorites website data, and select:
    • Temporary Internet files or Temporary Internet files and website files
    • Cookies or Cookies and website data
    • History
  3. Click Delete. You will see a confirmation at the bottom of the window when the process is complete
  4. Exit/quit all browser windows and re-open the browser

If you are using Chrome:

  1. In the browser bar, enter:

     chrome://settings/clearBrowserData
  2. At the top of the "Clear browsing data" window, click Advanced

  3. Select the following:

    • Browsing history
    • Download history
    • Cookies and other site data
    • Cached images and files

    From the "Time range" drop-down menu, you can choose the period of time for which you want to clear cached information. To clear your entire cache, select All time

  4. Click CLEAR DATA.
  5. Exit/quit all browser windows and re-open the browser

If you are using Firefox:

  1. From the History menu, select Clear Recent History

    If the menu bar is hidden, press Alt to make it visible

  2. From the Time range to clear: drop-down menu, select the desired range; to clear your entire cache, select Everything
  3. Next to "Details", click the down arrow to choose which elements of the history to clear; to clear your entire cache, select all items
  4. Click Clear Now
  5. Exit/quit all browser windows and re-open the browser

If you are using Safari 8 and later

  1. From the Safari menu, select Clear History... or Clear History and Website Data....
  2. Select the desired time range, and then click Clear History
  3. Go to Safari > Quit Safari or press Command-Q to exit the browser completely

If you are using Opera

  1. From the Opera menu, select Settings, then Privacy & Security, and then Clear browsing data....
  2. In the dialog box that opens, from the "Obliterate the following items from:" drop-down menu, select the beginning of time
  3. Select the following:
    1. Browsing history
    2. Download history
    3. Cookies and other site data
    4. Cached images and files
  4. Click Clear browsing data.
  5. Exit/quit all browser windows and re-open the browser

If you are using Microsoft Edge

  1. In the top right, click the Hub icon (looks like star with three horizontal lines)
  2. Click the History icon (looks like a clock), and then select Clear all history
  3. Select Browsing history, then Cookies and saved website data, and then Cached data and files. Click Clear
  4. After the "All Clear!" message appears, exit/quit all browser windows and re-open the browser

Cookies

If you have disabled cookies, or you are a running a program to block our cookie, the Login page will display each time you perform a function, such as Listing an Item, Bidding on an Item, and other functions which require you to log in

Most users want to allow this cookie to avoid having to provide login information over and over again on our site

Note: This is a secure method for keeping you logged in to our site. This cookie does not store your username or password, address, phone number, or any other personal information. It is a technical cookie which allows us to verify you have successfully logged in.

To make sure you are allowing our cookie in Internet Explorer (IE):

  1. Click the Tools menu at the top of the web browser
  2. Choose Internet Options
  3. Click the Privacy tab
  4. Click Sites. The Per Site Privacy Actions screen displays
  5. Type GunBroker.com in the box labeled Address of web site
  6. Click Allow
  7. Now verify that GunBroker.com is shown in the list of Managed Web Sites on this Per Site Privacy screen, and next to GunBroker.com, it says "Always Allow"
  8. Click OK to exit this screen, and click OK to exit the Internet Options screen. Your web browser is now configured to allow our cookie

To enable our cookie in other types of web browsers, or to enable our cookie in cookie-blocking software, please refer to your software's instructions related to enabling cookies for a website.

Some Internet Service Providers or Internet access provided at work may have a proxy server which may be blocking our cookie. If you have taken the steps above to enable cookies for GunBroker.com, and you are still having problems, you may want to verify whether there were any recent changes to your Internet service that would affect cookies.

If the above instructions do not work: 
Be aware some virus-scanning software and ad-blocking software can block web browser cookies. We recommend you check your system for this type of software, and become familiar with how to configure the software to allow our cookies.
