Finding the Most Appropriate Category for Your Item
Selecting the correct category helps buyers find your item more easily and improves the overall marketplace experience.
How to Find the Best Category
When creating a listing, you can use one of the following options in the Listing Tool to find the most appropriate category:
Full Directory
Browse the complete category tree and select the category that best fits your item. You can expand or collapse the category tree for easier navigation. This is the default view when starting a new listing.
Item Search
Enter keywords related to your item, and the system will suggest categories that contain similar items.
You can also refer to the Category Description page, which provides a complete list of categories along with descriptions of the types of items that belong in each one.
If Your Item Is Listed in the Wrong Category
If you accidentally list an item in the wrong category, it can be corrected. Upon request, or if we identify a miscategorized listing during routine review (for example, ammunition listed in a Firearms category), we may move the item to the appropriate category.
Posting the Same Item in Multiple Categories
Please do not list the same item in multiple categories.
For example, if you are selling holsters, they should be listed in the Accessories category rather than being duplicated in Pistols, Revolvers, or other firearm categories.
Listing an item only once in the most appropriate category helps reduce duplicate listings and makes it easier for buyers to find what they are looking for.
