Criminals should be killed on sight regardless of the severity of the crime. That's the way I feel. Small crime leads to big crime and big crime often involves or leads to violence.

Believe it or not, but for the citizens of Saudi Arabia, it is one of the safest countries on the planet.
One thing I can say about a stable Muslim government is that they have an intolerance for any crime whatsoever, and their punishments are swift and brutal.0 -

I'm going to take a middle ground here - some things are worth killing over some aren't.
I wouldn't kill over a TV, I mean we are talking less than 1 months salary for that. If I saw someone hauling off my TV, I wouldn't shoot them, I'd be trying to get a plate number or something.
But lets say a significant portion of your life savings are in something like gold that the theif is carrying off - then I would take highball's point that you traded a significant portion of your life for that stuff.
Then there are material things needed for life - lets say you had a dialysis machine, or some other medical equipment or medicine you absolutely needed to survive - you would kill over that, wouldn't you?
I need my car to get to work, I need my work to buy food, I need food to survive, therefore, I need my car to survive, I would definitely consider killing over my car.
Our "stuff" isn't merely stuff, some of them are tools we depend on, they are extensions of ourselves, we couldn't survive without "stuff"
See how long you last in the african savahna without anything, even clothes.
I wouldn't think it right to kill over luxury items, but items you need to make a living, those I can see killing over0 -
Let me throw a "curve ball" into this discussion, that eliminates the worry of family safety!
You are coming home from a family vacation,.......all members are in the vehicle, even the pets.
You pull up to your house, notice a truck in the backyard, hear voices, and see doors open. Also you notice lots of your nice "stuff" in the back of the truck.

Intolerance for criminals is one of the things I can get on board with Muslims. You can leave your wallet on a park bench in a Muslim country and odds are it will be there hours later when you return. When the punishment is swift and harsh criminals take note. 0 -
