NTC = naval training center.
NATTC = naval air technical training center.
RTC = recruit training command.
RTC was part of NTC.
NTC taught the 'A' & 'B' & 'C' schools. also was home to BEEP (basic electronics and advanced course.)
look at my pic on page 1. RTC was to the right across the bridge on worm island. week 6 you crossed over and moved into barracks bottom center of photo. gas chambers were along river below parade grounds. look for the smoke stack. the grinder can be seen in the middle of the pic.
NTC is top left and center top.
last time i was on this base was in 1995. it was a ghost town. all the buildings were boarded up. only some of the NTC was active. my rifle pistol team boarded here during the 1995 all navy matches at NAS mirimar.
talk about a funny feeling to walk the entire grounds 20 years later alone with no one around but sounds fromthe past echoing inthe breeze, in khakis. what a journey it was. i felt old.0 -

(Square peg,round hole) - dunno if you consider it "Boot Camp", but:
United States Merchant Marine Academy, North Shore, Long Island, New York.
...For nearly a whole Durn Year!, from July 5 1971, through till June 15 or so, 1972 - Double-time runs to and from every class, In Formation for every meal, Sweat Boxes at least every week for the first three months, Daily inspections for the first two months, then weekly thereafter...OOdles and Scads of Chickenship, for the first year. Helluva way to pay for College!! Hated it when I was there, Love to BS about it now.
OK, I'll sit down and shut up now...
And Thanks to all who served!!0 -
