I just got through watching Inside the NFL on HBO. Bob Costas and Peter King just got through telling all NFL fans that no one needs to own a gun, and that the NFL should ban all players from owning any gun's. In fact they both said they are afraid of guns, and feel better/safer knowing that they don't own one and don't have one in their house. Costas also said that even though it's your constitutional right to own a gun, no one really needs to. Peter King (writer for Sports Illustrated) also said he was sure that the NFL commissioner would do something about "his players" owning firearms. This from a so called "sports" reporter. Last time I checked, shooting was still an Olympic sport, but not if Bob Costas and Peter King have anything to say about it. HOW PATHETIC! And now, millions of NFL fans get a wonderful anti gun speech on the eve of the superbowl.
I sure hope the NRA, GOA, CCRKBA and everybody else take notice...

    False, we just all need to start acting like TO. Then everyone would get along, sitting in our cribs and sucking our thumbs all day.

    Put Misters King and Costas on my list with the Dixie Chicks, Franken, Baldwin, Robins etc. etc. etc.

    Everyone has a right to their opinion but, just because you've had a microphone placed in your hand to talk football doesn't mean you know jack about anything else.

    Sent my comments, too. Thanks for the link. While I persoanlly do not hang on their every word, there are way too many uninformed skulls full of mush out there who do. They have the platform and therefore have the responsibility and obligation know what they're talking about. If they're afraid of guns, move on to a subject they know....bikini's.

    If anybody should be FOR carrying a gun it should be that smack Costas. He is about five foot tall and vicious as an earthworm, the only way he could protect himself is with a gun. He's a "homey", lives in my town. Wouldn't surprise me if he did carry, a lot of the hypocrites do, not OK for others though. Absolutely send a protest.

    Football is full of thugs, dopers, and felons anyway. It may be true that those people don't need guns but as for the rest of us (the law abiding citizens) these commentators need to shut the he** up. I don't think the need caviar, champagne, and limo rides but do I go around telling everybody. Heck no. To each his own.
    BTW I sent e-mails to both companies.

    I really, really LIKED Peter King. He has written some really great articles, and his Monday Morning Quarterback is a great read. I just sent him an e-mail at his SI address. Maybe he will get it, both literally and figuratively.

    Every lawful gun owner has a legitimate right to be angry at such baised comments as those by Costas and King. After all, they are paid huge amounts to do a job that only basically involves football commentary. How arrogrant of them to give themselves the right to use their highly paid soapbox to lecture America on whether or not we should be allowed to own guns?

    So yes that was a slap in the face to peaceful, lawful gun owners. However, many here are focusing on the slap in the fact and missing the kick in our gonads. What you have witnessed by the political anti-gun speech of Costas and King is just a very tiny example of how powerful and wide-spread is the anti-gun movement and its ability to get its anti-gun message out to the public on a natiowide and regular basis. Here a strong anti-gun "speech" was casually tossed out on a very popular, national entertainment television show. A show financed by advertisers who are financied by you and your purchases. The anti-gun damage was done and now over with; until next time. All our protests and letters, complaints, emails, etc. cannot undo the anti-gun damage that was accompolished.

    Along with our protests should be a request to our fellow gun owners to finally join and help with our own pro-gun messages and programs. Only about 5-10% of American gun owners do even one damn thing to help with the gun rights fight. That is the main reason we are losing the gun rights war.

    So I am urging you to urge all gun owners to pay that lousely $20-35 per year and offically become a member of at least (hopefully more) one national and local gun rights groups. Helping such groups is the only way I know of for gun owners to be able to get their pro-gun rights message out to the public and legislators in an attempt to counter the well financed and powerful anti-gunners and their anti-gun message.

    PLEASE pick at least one of the very, very few gun rights groups that are hanging on by their fingernails and trying to function on a shoestring and join up and help.

    And therein lies the problem. We'll snap off a quick protest to the network, letting them know that we're unhappy, but how many of us would it take to let the NFL and the network know that their 2.6 million-dollar ads are going unwatched?
    Sadly, not enough. Too many of us are content to fire off an email (Because, you see, it's easy) and think we've done our part, when, in fact, those protests mean absolutely nothing to the network. They're an advertising outlet, and they rely on the fact that Americans will not give up our conveniences, vices and pasttimes, even when our Constitutional Rights are at stake.

    It all just makes me sad.

    Typical elites. Of course, they do not need to own a gun, they are paid a million bucks a year to run around and chase a ball, or sit in a booth and say things that are obvious to someone watching the game. They live in upscale neighborhoods with paid security patrols - naturally crime is not a problem for them; it is something the lower classes have to worry about.
