HBO & Inside the NFL - Costas and King "No one needs to own a gun"
I just got through watching Inside the NFL on HBO. Bob Costas and Peter King just got through telling all NFL fans that no one needs to own a gun, and that the NFL should ban all players from owning any gun's. In fact they both said they are afraid of guns, and feel better/safer knowing that they don't own one and don't have one in their house. Costas also said that even though it's your constitutional right to own a gun, no one really needs to. Peter King (writer for Sports Illustrated) also said he was sure that the NFL commissioner would do something about "his players" owning firearms. This from a so called "sports" reporter. Last time I checked, shooting was still an Olympic sport, but not if Bob Costas and Peter King have anything to say about it. HOW PATHETIC! And now, millions of NFL fans get a wonderful anti gun speech on the eve of the superbowl.
I sure hope the NRA, GOA, CCRKBA and everybody else take notice...

    I JUST SENT A WELL-THOUGHT-OUT RESPONSE TO THE EDITOR. PERHAPS SPORTS ILLUSTRATED SHOULD EXPERIENCE THE WRATH OF THE GUN OWNERS OF THIS GREAT NATION. IT WOULD CRAMP THEIR STYLE AND SHUT UP THESE IGNORAMUSES WHO THOUGHTLESSLY MAKE SUCH STUPID, MORONIC STATEMENTS!!!

    it may not be right but i don't care, when i hear this b.s. in person or someone asks why i have guns, or even why i have the ones i own, i respond with

    "in case i snap someday"

    i figure they already came to that conclusion anyway in most cases, but it usually ends the discussion

    And therein lies the problem. We'll snap off a quick protest to the network, letting them know that we're unhappy, but how many of us would it take to let the NFL and the network know that their 2.6 million-dollar ads are going unwatched?
    Sadly, not enough. Too many of us are content to fire off an email (Because, you see, it's easy) and think we've done our part, when, in fact, those protests mean absolutely nothing to the network. They're an advertising outlet, and they rely on the fact that Americans will not give up our conveniences, vices and pasttimes, even when our Constitutional Rights are at stake.

    It all just makes me sad.


    Long, long ago I decided to not waste my time watching millionaires chase, kick or throw a ball around. Or do anything else for that matter. Especially since the public cares so much about their sports stars while those sports stars don't, for the most part, give one damn about the fans.

    My attitude is the same for Hollywood "stars". I try to avoid movies which features or is packed with "stars". Instead I try to find movies that have foreign actors who are not paid millions just to make a damn movie or I try to find American movies featuring no-name actors.

    But that's just me.

    Ah, yes. One of the best and most funny movies of all time. And it was not made in Hollywood and there is not even one big name star in that movie.

    BTW, after my rant about how the gun rights movement is desperate for members and funds, notice how almost no one chimed in to help or to fess up to finally decideing to jump in and spend a little time and money to help with the gun rights battles? Man, I believe that only about 5% of America's gun owners are actually doing anything to try and save their guns.

    News Flash! 5% is NOT ENOUGH!.

    Me too. And if the usual malcontents want to jump in and complain about every little thing the NRA does wrong, I will ask them to kindly shut up and spend their time, money and effort helping one of the progun organizations they ARE willing to support.

    Man, that's just sad.

    The worst part is, those who aren't active in the fight aren't the only ones who stand to lose. You. Me. My father-in-law. All of us who have been active (at least in our membership) will lose, too. The only hope I hold out is that this is the same war that's been waged since the 60's. We've lost some battles, but the war has not been lost. It won't ever be won, but we haven't lost, either.

    Costas is actually a well trained martial artist.

    I wonder what he would say if Martial Arts were banned as being to violent and anyone so trained would require a license and not be allowed in banks or bars?

    I stopped watching the NFL years ago along with all major sports.

    Interferes with my shooting time which is pretty much all the time.

    More football players die from concussion related ailments later in life than those who die from gunshots. Also, we hear every year about some football player at any level dying from heat stroke. So, shouldn't we ban concussions and heat?
