Yup! I used to live near Claxton, Ga., "Fruitcake Capitol of the World". They are especially good fresh from the ovens. 0 -
I like 'em too, never understood the bad rep they got. 0 -
I can't stand them. I didn't like them when I was a kid and I still don't like them. [xx(][xx(][xx(] 0 -
We have a neighbor who bakes us one every Christmas and I pretend to love it, but truth is I usually take it to the Satelite Office for the guys to eat. I cant stand them.[B)] 0 -
Isn't it strange. I mean...Fruit/Good. Cake/GREAT
Fruitcake = Nasty crap.0 -
yep I like them. 0 -
The store bought ones would be good for tug boat bumpers or footings. I remember getting one of those round, brick-like things every Christmas when I worked for Union Oil and then tossing it into the trash dumpster on my way out of the refinery. So many of these things got thrown into the dumpster that I often wondered if the trash truck would be able to lift the can due to the weight! There is a Polish Christmas fruit cake called cwibak which is wonderful and my mother used to bake two or three of them at Christmas time. I can still smell them baking away in the kitchen and see mom standing there in her apron. I really miss her. 0 -

I absolutely love fruitcake, but it's got to be a really good one. The best I ever had was sent to me by my future-ex-mother-in-law for the Christmas of 1972. I was on a carrier in the Gulf of Tonkin. Should have shared, but I ate the whole darn thing myself. 0 -
There is actually only ONE fruitcake. It has been passed around for decades.
Clouder..0 -
Haven't been brave enough to try one for YEARS. 0 -

Makes a good breakfast, or late night snack. Warmed up or room temp is OK! It has gotten a bad rap. 0 -

My wife fed some to the dog one time.
She came in the room and said, "Look at that nasty dog licking himself"?
I replied, "I think he's just tryin to get the taste out of his mouth".[:D]0 -

Like fruitcake? Gosh, yes! Start making it in July and every couple of weeks saturate it with rum or some oak aged whiskey. By December, the aroma wafes throughout the house and it is delicious. 0 -

Fruitcake is to Christmas as candy corn is to Halloween. Nobody likes either one, but people still eat them for some reason. 0 -
