Does anybobdy still use older rds. like 250 savage,303 british etc.
when I go to hunting camps seems like everbody has all the new short magsor 338 win mag are deer getting tougher that the .300 svage can't handle them anymore

I used a .250 Savage two years ago for the first time after I bought a Savage 99 in a takedown model for the sum of $250. Took a nice fat doe at 40 yards using peep sights and reloads. She dropped in the tracks.
I have a .338 win Mag, sorta overkill for deer.

What is an older caliber? 7.62X54 has been around since 1891 in the Mosin Nagant. It is still a Russian sniper round.
I load and shoot 8 and 11mm Mauser, 11mm Murata, and a number of old pistol rounds. They still work just fine. Even a round lead ball propelled out of a black powder 1851 Colt Navy will do anything a .38 Special will.
New calibers are like new fishing lures. The fish don't know the difference, only the fishermen do.
The deer aren't getting tougher, the hunters just want to mask poor skills with new wonder bullets. When these bullets lose their magic, something newer will come out.0 -
