Hanging Winchesters on the wall
I would like to hang some of my lever action guns on the wall in my gun room. Anybody done it? How did you hang them. It's drywall.

Drive railroad spike in wall, take barb wire ( best if rusty) and twist around barrel and stock, (double if its a fancy 94) you don't want them to fall, and hang on wall.
Or do as I do and get your air nailer, find a stud, and nail it up. One thru the barrel and a couple thru the stock should do. [;)][8][}:)][:o)]0 -
That's abusive treatment so if you really cherish your weapons, don't do it. The crud that floats in the air of a home is incredible. It will coat you firearms in six months and start rusting them almost immediately. Put oil on them and you'll only give the particulants something to stick to.
Put them where they belong.

I bought a couple of Y hooks at home depot and screw them into the wall. The gun sits on that. Looks real good next to my cowboy hats. 0 -
All the wall hangers in my old man's house are common caliber guns that have something wrong with them - he has pushed a slug down the barrel just far enough to be able to chamber a fresh round... 0 -
clouder- I thought that when a gun gets all dirty from hanging on the wall you just took it out to the driveway and hosed them off with the high pressure washer and oiled them back up with old motor oil and hung them back up for another 6 months. 0 -

That will work. Make sure you take them down before you move the trailer, however.

Contact cement it right to the wall. In an Earth quake it won't fall off, the wall will come down first. To get it off just douse it with lots Formbee's or acetone and then use a big pry bar to remove it 0 -

bathtub full of hot water with cascade detergent (has SHINESHIELD) then air dry on clothesline...next wipe down with lemon pledge....sixty penny nails into wall with big drop of superglue on head...hold on for a few minutes till set....if needed wipe down with swiffer...OR-- if this is to complicated use a couple deer sheds with glued in screw mounted into studs...seriously now, dont believe all you hear on GB, some posters never have actually for really cross your heart done these things 0 -
guns-n-painthorses if you want something different and looks nice try this.
Cut some old railroad spikes to about 3" and weld about 2" of 16 penny nail to cut end. Find studs and hold gun to wall to determine place to drive spikes and mark. After spike in wall wrap with buckskin or ? whatever you like looks of and hang your guns.
Better yet go to range with them.0 -

There are several options for dry wall. Go to your local hardware store or home center and ask some questions.
The coolest wall hung guns I've seen, were on a wall behind glass. I can't remember who make them though.0 -
I have some Ive used the front feet off of deer Ive killed. I will cut the proper lenght of the front feet off. Then Curl them up in an L type cradle position. I then tie the knee joint back and leave them for about 2 months. Then their ready to attach to a board and they remain stiff and there you go. It actually looks very nice after you polyerathayne(SP)your board, and they will last forever. 0 -

If your Winchesters are an investment only with no emotional connection, then they need to stay safely tucked away under proper and consistent environmental conditions. However, if you like them as much as I do, they need to be looked at from time to time. When I want to look, I just put my little 3 Gun Rifle Rack that my Mom gave me back in the early 60's up on the mantel and I put 3 of my favorite Winchesters out for display. However, they come down before I go to bed and get a nice wipe down before safely being tucked into the safe. 0 -
You can mount a M2 50 on the wall if you use enough CONSTRUCTION ADHESIVE 0 -
One option might be something like this wall mounted gun cabinet that I built several years ago. A guy called and custom ordered it. Come to find out, he could neither afford it, and his trailer walls likely wouldn't have held it anyway, so it's been sitting in the shop every since.
Shipping might be a costly and tricky proposition though..[;)]
